What were your reasons for getting surgery before talking to your boss? Remember those. Remember everything you learned while researching the different surgeries. You need to choose for you. I was sleeved three weeks ago and even though I sometimes eat too fast and regret it, and even though I'm tired of shakes, even though i know there are always risks, and even though I hit the three week stall a week early, I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I did this for my health. Not anyone else's. You need to choose for you. You can do this! Good luck!!

Fiber. Add fiber (like benefiber) to your protein drinks. Good luck!! -
Time off post op

I took a week and a half. The rest of the two week window was part time at work. Full time I went back after 2 weeks. -
Unsupportive Primary Care Doctor

You own your success with the sleeve: not the surgeon, not the PCP, and sure as heck not the statistics. You've got this! -
New can anyone answer my question
MoosieGirl replied to CamberAshley's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The surgeon's coordinator is the one that called me. I haven't spoken with insurance at all about this. The doctors took care of it all. And congrats on your soon-to-be surgery!! -

We also feel colder because of our new, slower metabolisms. And that's not something that will ever fully resolve.

Girl Scout cookie advice/suggestions
MoosieGirl replied to brennasmom's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I made a thin mint inspired protein shake today. Could probably figure out a Samoa one, too. Oh, and we'll be buying a box or two. One goes to work with hubs and the other gets split into small baggies for school lunches. I won't be eating any. -
I'm 13 days post-op. I do about a mile and a half at a "brisk" pace. I get in a lot more walking at a slower oace. My doc was okay with it but warned me not to overdo the brisk stuff. I could do the meandering all day long if life allowed it, he said. But I just can't meander all day long. Good luck finding a compromise!!

Yum! If they could bottle elbow grease I'd pay dearly for it! -
cheesecake factory
MoosieGirl replied to Gigicrystal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh, I haven't craved food since two weeks before surgery, but one mention of Cheesecake Factory and BAM! Head hunger. Those stuffed mushrooms are heaven on a plate. -
I love how Syntrax mixes with water. It's going to be my go to for protein drinks at work. I loved the fuzzy navel and strawberry kiwi. The Caribbean Cooler tasted like drinking sun tan lotion. I guess coconut isn't my thing, lol. The sampler pack from sytrax is the best thing ever.

No drinking with meals
MoosieGirl replied to IvyLeagueNP's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is the only rule I'm finding difficult. Pre-surgery I drank water all the time. Now it's a chore because I have to do so by the clock. But like most habits I'm hoping to be able to get in the groove and make this rule second nature too. -
Go, you! So exciting!!

What are your must haves for the hospital stay and after? How long should I expect to be out of school and gym class?
MoosieGirl replied to ParamoreloverxD's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I packed enough to keep me occupied and well dressed. And instead I spent the entire time and only used chapstick, a pair of undies, and a toothbrush. That's it. -
Congrats! I can't wait to be in your shoes soon!

I'm so glad you're feeling so good! But the doctor is right. You must let your body heal. Go for atrolls. Not walks. Walk a bit into the woods and the take a seat. Enjoy the nature around you. Maybe have picnics with your pureed yummies. And congrats!

Feb 9th & 10th sleevers...how you doing?
MoosieGirl replied to bruni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi. I'm no here. Longtime lurker, but just acrually signed up about ten minutes ago. Sleeved on the 9th 1. How do you feel? Any issues? Nonissues. No pain. Feeling really good at this point. 2. How is your water/protein intake? I routinely hit the 80 for Protein grams. And Water on days I don't work is barely at 64 oz. But on days I work it's tons more. 3. Have you had your first follow-up appt? How did it go? If not, when is your appt? I did last week. It went really well and just felt routine-ish. 4. What stage food are you on (full liquids, purees, etc.)? pureed. I move to mushies in one week. 5. Have you hit buyer's remorse yet or still glad you did it? The first week I totally did. But I was over it by day 5. 6. Lastly - how much have you lost since the surgery? Since surgery I'm down 15lbs. -
Hi. I'm new here. I was sleeved on the 9th. And although the first week I was pretty miserable, I'm doing so great now.

how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?
MoosieGirl replied to boosh10's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was rolled into the surgery suite at 7:30. The post-op nurse called hubs at 9:25 to say I was coming out of anesthesia just fine.
