Seems like there's more to this. I just can't imagine that just a few scars & a drain caused him to do a complete 360 in regards to his love.
My husband has been there through 14 surgeries & 3 births. I had the drain twice coming out of my neck, once when they removed 1/2 of my thyroid. And again, when they removed the other half due to cancer. I looked & felt like a Borg . My daughter who was 14 asked to remove it & clean it for me, then reattached it.
Your husband needs to man up. And if he can't, he is simply unworthy of you.,,but something tells me you know this already.

As I am reading this, I am hoping that is not at all what he meant. Is it possible you interpreted his words wrong? After past surgeries my husband has been afraid to touch me for fear of injuring me. Could that have been what he meant to say?
If that is indeed his attitude, send him back to his mommy. He isn't fully cooked yet.

For the record, my incision scars are almost unable to be seen and the drain was removed before I left the hospital.
Tell your husband to thank his lucky stars he didn't marry me. My husband witnessed me poop on the birthing table every time I pushed while I was in labor with my first. He also got to see my brain drain that was taped to my face for four days after brain surgery. I still have a headband scar from ear to ear from that fiasco. Oh! And after that surgery, he had to pluck out the ingrown hairs that occurred as my hair grew back in around that incision.

He's very squeamish. It almost killed him.

What a horrible thing for him to say.
Time to make a small penis comment to him methinks. Then start filing those divorce papers and find yourself a good man who loves you for you.

I can not even imagine loving someone so deeply that a stupid scar would change that.
I don't know you, I don't know him. But....if a friend of mine confided in me that her husband was not attracted to her now because she has a scar then I would scream at her to tell him to get the hell out of her life. Seriously! I would tell her to not sit around and hope that he might change his mind, to hope that that a$$hole might reconsider his love for her. Good grief. Is he so wonderful that you should sit patiently while he weighs the pros and cons of being with a woman with a scar? Life is short. Find someone who loves you unconditionally.

Your husband is a tool who is likely an extremely insecure man who is afraid that when you lose weight you will no longer be attracted to him. His defense mechanism is pushing you away so that when you eventually realize that he is not the catch you once thought he was, it won't be as difficult for him. Any man who can say that to you during this very difficult point in your life is not a man worth keeping around. I would let him know that you absolutely understand his position, and if he doesn't want to be the husband you deserve, then he certainly knows how to use the front door on his way out of your life.

Wow...and how attracted are you to someone who would make such an unkind remark to his life partner just two weeks after surgery? I'm pretty ornery though but I'd be saying something like "That's okay with me, cause in a very short time there will be plenty of guys out there who think I'm stunning!"

I'd seriously consider taking a long hard look at my relationship if I were in your shoes. To me, it sounds as if you two could use a long talk and some couples counseling.

What if you had been in a serious car accident that required reconstructive surgery? What if you had appendicitis or a tumor that required surgery? What if you needed a stint or a transplant? Would he find you unattractive for any of those reasons?

My husband loves me fat, thin, with scars, without, hairy legs, overgrown eyebrows, roots showing, gassy, greasy haired, in sweats, with zits.... He's in for the long haul. If something came up cosmetically that he changed his mind, I am fairly certain the change of heart would be more than skin deep.

@@uni2424 - Excellent report!!! Sounds like you're doing great!!! I agree - I should have done this sooner.
Don't let any stalls weight you down psychologically (no pun intended ), they will pass as long as you keep doing what you know you're supposed to be doing. hair loss for me started several weeks out with increased shedding, then about week 13 I started losing it in clumps when shampooing . I know it's only temporary and I have seen evidence of new growth. I didn't buy any new (or consignment) clothes until about 50# down so a lot of folks could tell I was losing weight other than in my face . Now that I've bought some things that are more fitted to my body shape, and a more appropriate size for my current weight, lots of folks I work with are noticing the weight loss. Most of my closest co-workers knew I was having WLS; several of them have been down that road themselves. When I CHOOSE to tell someone that I've had WLS, I emphasize the fact that it was done for medical/health reasons, fatty liver, diabetes, HBP. Fortunately, no one has been negative towards me for having made this choice (I realize I'm fortunate to have had so much positive support around me).
    Keep on keeping on!!!
For every pound we lose, we're that much healthier!

I wanted to share my first month experience! The good, bad and TMI also!! All in all my recovery was very easy. No nausea or vomiting. I am able to eat most things by now (still haven't introduced beef or raw veggies). I don't crave many things. I am surprised at how much I can eat but still not eating much in a day. Sometimes I can eat more than others, don't really know why. When you eat too much you will know and be miserable! Walk it out! I am getting down over 100 grams of Protein per day, how you say? I add an extra scoop of unflavored Protein powder to my Advocare Protein Drink so I am getting 54 grams in 1 shake and I am drinking 2 of those per day most days.
I am walking a lot! Get a Fitbit, it really helps you get those steps in per day! I am off on Fridays and walked 7 miles that day-not all at once but there were 90 active minutes! I still cannot lift without feeling some strain so I don't do it yet! My weight was stalled for 2.5 weeks (very frustrating for a new sleever) but one morning I woke up and 5 pounds gone just like that and now a couple of more! I have not experienced dumping but I will say what I experience is more like a cleansing! There is a sense of urgency but plenty of time to find a bathroom! It is usually very welcome because it make the bloating go away! I wake up with a flat stomach (compared to what it was) but once I eat or drink anything my stomach does bloat. I am urinating so much less (which is nice) and urine is clear so I know I am still getting plenty of fluids! I have saved a lot of money not going out to eat anymore. Some of my incisions are still open but healing. I have not experienced in excessive Hair loss. My first period out after surgery was long and heavy, doctor said that was normal.
I have lost 20 lbs yet no one has said anything about it yet except my husband! Could be because I am still wearing the same clothes! I have a lot more energy!! The ugly is that I have been really moody, my family can attest! I don't know if this is from the changes or the building a house and current house in disarray and long work hours! Either way, my family has been very patient and I hope it goes away!!
Very pleased that I did this, wish I would have done it sooner!

Just something to throw out there at all of you losers!!
As we are all losing weight, pretty rapidly, we need clothing that doesn't cost a fortune!
Goodwill (or places like it) is a GREAT place to get CHEAP clothes...
I got 2 pairs of jeans and a pair of shorts for a grand total of $14.50 the other day.
Granted they don't fit YET.. but they will...
one pair of jeans was $3.50...
Be prepared to have to look through everything since there is basically no organization... other than sorted by color for tops and pants other than jeans...
ALL jeans are lumped together in no particular sizing order...
at least that is how it is at the ones I went to..

For me.. IF my stomach doesn't like what I ate, within 5 minutes my mouth doing that over producing saliva thing that warns me that I am gonna hurl... and for me there is NO stopping it...
as far as feeling full... I am not really how to explain it.. it is not the same feeling as before surgery for me.. I kinda start getting a lump in the base of my throat... and I just don't eat anymore...
not sure how it is for anyone else...

newrose2427 got a reaction from FinallyFit50s in it is finished... Had my surgery! What an ordeal
I had surgery 3/10.. It wasn't hard on me, they had me hooked up to a pain pump! I didn't feel nothing! I went home the next day. BUT, the week following at home was terrible! I hurt so bad! I also was regretting this decision. I wasn't feeling happy and joyous, like I read allot of on here. But today, I'm almost 3 weeks post op, I feel SOOOO much better. I'm barely hurting now, still hurts to bend at the waist, but nothing like it was. It does get better, and dropping 27 pounds in the process, makes it with it:-D

I'm surprised you're doing that much exercise this early. Most docs that I've heard about recommend only walking programs until 6 weeks out. I agree with everyone about the low carb vs. low fat. Generally, low fat foods are higher in carbs. Here is a great article that breaks down where our calories come from.
This will help understand why something low-fat is higher carb.
    http://blog.myfitnesspal.com/ask-the-dietitian-is-a-calorie-a-calorie-2/
Also, it looks like you're averaging a little over 3 pounds a week. That's no small feat and you should be proud. Compared to a lot of people on here you're starting weight isn't that high. That's why you shouldn't compare your weight loss with others. The more you have to lose, the faster you lose. In one month you've lost 14% of your excess body weight (based on your starting & goal weights). THAT'S AMAZING!!! Pat yourself on the back. If you really want to compare, at 4 weeks out, I had lost 16% of my excess body fat since surgery. For me that was about 25 pounds. See how comparing does no good? This is your journey and you're already off to a great start. If you're mom is asking you everyday how much you've lost (my mom does this), just stop telling her a number. She'll get the hint. You're body is still healing so just stick with the program and focus on that. Make sure you get your fluids and if you can, your Protein. Good luck to you! We're proud of you

First, anytime you are referring to weight from here on out, remove the word "only" from your vocabulary. ANY weight lost is a victory and success. Celebrate it! Second, you shouldn't listen or care what other people think. Even your mom. Easier said than done, I know. But this is YOUR journey and you cannot make your body lose faster than it already is as long as you are following the rules. Third, you will hit multiple stalls and you need to be mentally prepared for that. I'm 4 1/2 months post op and I just had my first week where I GAINED weight. I didn't cry. I didn't freak out. Why? I had been out of town all week and did a horrible job of getting my fluids in.
Also, at your stage I was still battling extreme fatigue, depression and figuring out how to get calories in. The few calories you're eating combined with the level of working out you're doing could cause slower weight loss. I would recommend going back to your team and asking about your diet and exercise. I personally did very low carb the first 3 months then my doctor had me add some healthy carbs in.
Keep your chin up and take it day by day. You'll make it to your goal. But it won't happen over just one month.
