  1. Hey there! I also use the Unjury, I use the chicken noodle flavor and as to broth and Soups. Also I recently found Protein shots! They are called New Whey Protein liquid. 42g of whey protein, 0 sugar, low carb, 180 calories, and only 3.8oz. If it wasn't for finding these little things, I don't know what I would've done. I'm only a little over a week post op, but these things were a god send!

O and I had to go to a Vitamin shop to find them. They weren't on the floor, we talked to a worker there, and they ordered them for me.

Hope this helps! Good luck to ya!

  2. I'm feeling the same way. I'm not sure if I'm dehydrated or not?

That was my problem in the hospital with my recovery even though I was eating the ice all day and night.

I always worry also what if I have too much will my sleeve burst.

    Good luck.

I feel the same way, am I drinking too much? What if I rip a staple? Was that a pain in my arm? Could I have a leak? Lol.. Super worry wort here!

But as usual, unnecessary worries. When I'm full, my stomach DEFINITELY lets me know. When I get nauseated, I know I pushed a little too far. We just have to learn to listen to our bodies in a new way now.

We'll be pros before you know it ;-)

Especially with the help of all these nice people on this site :-D

    Warm wishes!

  3. The Protein Shots are 42g of Protein , it's whey protein. They have fruit punch, sour apple, raspberry, orange. They are sugar free, 2 carbs, 180 calories.

The Unjury protein powder is added to hot broth or Soup. You can get unflavored or chocolate, strawberry, vanilla and chicken noodle. The are other items as well. Unjury.com.

I am on day 8 post op today. So I'm not on smoothies yet, still Clear Liquids. But u can add that unjury to smoothies. I have had no real complications other than nausea from too much Fluid too fast. Lost 8# in a week:-) first time ever for me.

  4. I totally agree with the previous posts. You have to do this for YOU! If you don't do something now, you will probably looking at being sicker, bigger, and even worse,, you could die! This is your decision, you have to do this for you.

I was super lucky and my husband went to every single appointment I had, all the specialist, all the classes. HOWEVER, in the beginning he was just like your husband. He said I could do it with out this, that I have to "really dedicate" myself and " stick to it ". He has no idea how hard it is to lose weight, him being thin his whole life! But after each class, and a couple visits to counselors, he did a complete 360! Now he is my number 1 supporter!

As for your parents, I don't think not telling them is the route I would choose. You are all adults and just tell them, that you love them, and your doing this so that they can have a healthy daughter around for a few more decades! And that if they don't agree, they have the right to have their opinion, and you don't want to hear any negative remarks. That you need to surrounded by love and support, and it will be their choice not to talk to you over a petty issue. And let them know you will be there for them when they were ready!

When I made this decision, I really didn't care what anyone else thought honestly. I knew I had to do it for me, i was already 300+ pounds, they weren't in my shoes. I'm just lucky that everyone in my life supported me.

I'm happy for you, and wish you the best of luck! Keep us posted!

  5. Way to go with your recovery!

I'm 8 days post op, and still on only Clear Liquids. And will be for 2 weeks, then thicken liquids for 2 weeks, then soft for 2 weeks, then blended for 2 weeks, THEN SOLID!! I'm going to throw a party lol.. And absolutely never again, any more straws.. Doc says it can give u gas by allowing air to go down, and it can stretch your pouch making u want to eat more.

I guess every Dr is different, but maybe that ice cream and straw bringing on an unnecessary aliment?

Good luck to you in your journey!

  6. Hey there everyone, I'm new to the site as of a few weeks ago. Just getting into the forums for advice. I'm currently 8 days post op via VGS. Little about me, my highest weight was 337, went through 8 months of hoops to be approved and lost down to 296. Now as of this morning I'm even lighter having lost another 8 pounds since surgery. So I am at the smallest weight in over 20 years,,, 288 pounds!! I just can't believe it, I've been big my entire life, never really lost weight without gaining double back. So I'm so excited to be starting a new life! I've been reading all of your post and advice and it has really helped me keep chugging along! I want to thank you all!

I had a question..I'm still in the liquid diet phase. Since surgery I can only comfortably consume @2.5 oz. at a time. When I try to drink even a 4 oz Protein Shake, I get nausea, and my stomach feels like it's going to burst! And it takes me time, a long time to want to drink again. So I've started a log on everything I consume. Like in 24 hours the most I'm getting is 20oz a day! Of course leaving me so thirsty.. I finally got the Protein down. I had to buy the shots. 42g grams protein and only 3.8oz. Now is the water!

So my question is, does it get better? Will I be able to get enough Water in without feeling so thirsty?

    Any tips that may help?

    Thanks so much in advance!
