  1. I have BCBS and the requirements were the same as yours. But what no one told me is, at your last appointment, that's when they file for your surgery to insurance. And they can take up to 2 weeks for them to approve it. My Dr only did surgeries on certain days, so by the time it was approved, I had to wait another whole month!! Frustrating!! Not to say that's what is going to happen with you, just be prepared for "surprises".

  2. I'm 8wks out, and started back drinking regular coffee about 2wks ago. I was a HUGE coffee drinker, probably at least 5-6 cups a day. Now I drink one in the morning and one in the afternoon. It has never bothered my sleeve. And it definitely helps keep me regular. I think it works better than my stool softener lol..

  3. Don't feel bad.. I too lost my best friend of 15 years right before my surgery. Before my surgery me and my husband and her and her husband, we would go out, dinner, drinks.. Her husband would say things like " you're going to have to lock this woman in a closet " and "aren't you scared she's going to leave you? She's going to be a knock out!" I'm sure my friend really didn't appreciate her man saying those things. I was flattered, but also appalled her husband was saying those things! Closer to my surgery, I had to stop going out to eat, stop drinking, and I joined a gym. All these things I HAD to do for a healthy life, well she didn't HAVE to do a life style change. So it was less and less we hung out. And the closer to surgery, I lost weight,, her husband would make more comments. I hate to say it, but I'm sure she was jealous of me! Of ME! I can't even wrap my brain around anybody being jealous of me, much less my best friend! It was a sad day for me when I realized I lost my friend because I had to change. But now, I look at it like it was meant to be. People are forever growing and changing. People come into our lives for a reason. To teach us whatever we need to be taught at that time. Then we grow, and some times, we out grow each other. That's just life. Am I sorry? Once I was.. Now? HECK NO! May be if I was still friends with her, she would have sabotaged my weight loss efforts so I wouldn't be prettier than her. I don't know. But i trust that everything happens for a reason. Now I have twice as many friends, who are into the same things that I am now. That choose to have the same life style. Just hang in there, if it's meant to be friends with her still, it'll work out. If it doesn't.. Just know that you are on a greater path to better people and things! ;-)

  4. Welcome! Congratulations on your new journey! I know how hard life has been being at such a high weight myself. My highest was 339! I was sleeved on 3/10/15 and have lost 36 pounds so far. Pre op I weighed 296. I still want to lose 180 more to hit the BMI and weight for my height. It's not the 200 you were looking for, but it's sure close in my eyes lol! I didn't post my weight at first either when I first started visiting this site, but as days went by, and reading all the other posts, my confidence got a little higher and higher. So finally I said what the heck! It's a weigh loss forum and why are we all here? So now, I'm up front with everything.

Right now I'm experiencing the dreaded 3 week stall.. Been on it for a week now :-/ . Trying to stay motivated, I know it won't last, but dang it! It can get discouraging.

So far my little tips that work for me: Never go past 3hrs without eating! I find if I do, I'm desperate for something and eat WAY too fast, and that hurts!

Water water water.. Or G2 Gatorade.. Fluid fluid fluid. I find if I don't get enough fluids, NO ENERGY!

And I try to get all my Protein in the first couple times I eat for the day. I'll do a Premier Protein shake for bfast (30g protein), and then if I'm on the run I have a premier Protein Bar for snack(20g protein). Then when I do eat the rest of the day, I already know I got my protein in for the day.

The gym is a must for me. I go 5-6 days a week. This is new to me. I started a month before my surgery. I find that on days I don't go, I beat myself up. Plus I feel much better after wards, plus I LOVE THE EXTRA ENERGY!

I hope these encourage you. I know it's easier said than done. But I promise I am one to tell you, if I can do it, so can any one! Good luck to you!

  5. I had surgery 3/10.. It wasn't hard on me, they had me hooked up to a pain pump! I didn't feel nothing! I went home the next day. BUT, the week following at home was terrible! I hurt so bad! I also was regretting this decision. I wasn't feeling happy and joyous, like I read allot of on here. But today, I'm almost 3 weeks post op, I feel SOOOO much better. I'm barely hurting now, still hurts to bend at the waist, but nothing like it was. It does get better, and dropping 27 pounds in the process, makes it with it:-D

  6. Yes sleepiness is normal. You just had a major surgery! Plus the pain meds.. It'll take a few days for the anesthesia to wear off. It's ok to feel sleepy for even a couple of weeks as your body heals itself. I'm having to take a nap in afternoons if I have allot that I have to take care of. But every day does get easier..

  7. Walking, shopping, sightseeing and taking naps day 1 and 2. Flew from San Diego to SLC and drove myself home 5 hours on day 3/4 (had to stay in a hotel 1/2 way home because the roads were so icy.) Plowed my driveway, went shopping and fed horses and dogs when I got home day 4. Sat around and did nothing day 5 (Christmas day). Got a haircut and nails done and worked a couple hours from home day 6. Back to work day 7.

But your schedule seems a lot nicer to me. I was hoping to relax for 2 weeks but that obviously didn't happen.... Enjoy your down time!

Jeeze I wish I could feel up to doing all that! I'm 11 days post op and thought it was great I just took my first car ride lol..

  8. Ok so today I am 10 days post op, VGS, and doc says time to start my Vitamins. I took all of them when I woke up this morning with a Protein Shake. I don't know if taking all of them at once kinda over loaded my stomach, but I got a little nauseas. I thought that since they are all chewable it would be ok. Do I need to maybe drink a shake first THEN take them? Or take on a empty stomach? How do you guys regimen your vitamins?

I was just so excited to finally get something that would give me a little more energy, I didn't even stop to think HOW I should be doing it. I've been on only liquids for 3 weeks now and I know my body needs vitamins. But if I get sick every time.. Well that's just gonna suck! Lol Any advice?

  9. I am suppose to do 4 shakes and some days I can barely get 2 down :(

I was having a hard time getting enough Protein too. So my husband went to a Vitamin store and ordered Protein Shots. The are called New Whey Liquid Protein. They are 3.8 oz, and 42g of protein, 0 sugar, 2 carbs. They are my god send! Also, Unjury. com has protein powders, I get the chicken noodle, it is SOOOO good! Even my kids like it. It has 21g of protein. So, with a shot a day, and a couple cups of Soup, , I'm done! :-)

    Hope this helps! Good luck!

  10. It gets easier! I'm 9 days post op, I had to do full liquid for 10 days before surgery and STILL on liquid for 2 weeks, only a week to go!

Bit it does get easier. I did 3 Protein Shakes a day. In between, if I got hungry, broth, sugar free popcicles, sugar free Jello. But mostly broth. I got tired of beef or chicken, so I started buying different flavor Soups and drain the liquid from them. I also had to hide in my room when it was dinner time at first. But now I'm good with my family eating in front of me.

What kind of Protein shakes are you drinking? If there are not high in protein, you will stay hungry. I used Bariatric Advantage, you can order online under that name. Low carb, low sugar. Very very filling.

I hope this helps! Good luck and hang in there! Your almost there!
