I had my sleeve surgery about 10 days ago. Saw the Doc at 1 week post-op check up. I was discussing this very topic with him, and while the article posted above goes into a lot of detail, a key aspect of early stall is simply related to the fact that while you were in the hospital, they pumped lots and lots of fluids into you (remember the frequent IV bag changes?). Well, that adds a lot of Water weight to the body and it takes some time to get the body into a rhythm of reducing. I think this dovetails into what the article says in greater detail. -RC-
Thank you as well. Hope all is going well. It does make sense all these articles and everything just doesn't make it any easier to accept ????
Hopefully everything will end up well. Good luck!!

Congratulations! You may have reached The Dreaded Week-3 Stall a little early. It's perfectly normal, and just about all of us have suffered through it. You're not crazy, and your doctor didn't screw up. In fact, you might not lose any weight for two weeks or even longer. But don't worry – after that, the pounds will start falling off if you stick to your program. And, the inches will continue to come off even while the scale isn't budging. Here's a good article that explains why it happens and why we all have to go through it. Hang in there. Pretty soon it'll be in the rear-view mirror and you'll be dropping weight again!
(Apologies to BP regulars who have seen this repeatedly, but it's a big deal to those who are going through it!)
Thanks for the words of encouragement!! I hope it ends soon. It depressing. Lol. I feel like I workout all the time only for nothing.

@@mandyq1985 I feel for you. I hope you lose really soon so you can see some results for your suffering. I had my surgery 6 days ago. I came home from the hospital 3 pounds lighter and it's ben up and down but no more weight loss. I know it's onl been 6 days blah blah blah but I am tired of eternal positivity. The surgery was excruciatingly painful. I' m the ONLY one - right? And I want results I couldnt get without the surgery or I woulnt have had it! I'm a realist!!
It gets better. Other than the not losing weight like I want too part. lol. Good luck!

Yeah. My surgery and recovery was relatively easy. I am 4 weeks out as of yesterday. I am down 35 lbs and have began working out vigorously. I haven't seen the scale move other than go up and down in the last two weeks. I have lost like 2 lbs. but it's really beginning to bring me down. ????. Boo.
-
It's been two weeks and I have only lost maybe 2-3 lbs. actually I go up and down. I have been working out a lot and getting my protein/water. I am getting so frustrated. ????
-
Ugh! It's driving me insane!
-
I am on whole foods. He moved me at two weeks from liquid phase to regular diet. I am pushing Proteins. But I seriously take 4-5 bites of something and I'm stuffed. So then like 2 hours later I feel like my stomach is completely empty and hungry again.
-
I am almost 4 weeks post op. I am eating Protein or drinking at every meal. I feel like I am getting so full so quickly that I can't hold very much (I know that's the point) but the problem is about 2 hours later my stomach is empty again. I don't know if it's due to me working out and my body craving more calories? I feel like I'm constantly snacking.

Market Basket, Shaws and Hannaford.
I live in a little town. Never heard of those. Boo. ????

I don't think I puréed one thing. I'm not saying you should go rogue like me, but I ate extremely soft foods for two months and chewed very well. I lived on eggs, cheese, and yogurt. Also blueberries, avocado, etc. I am positive some folks won't agree with me but I had no issues. I guess I'm just a rebel like @LipstickLady.
I am 6 days post op. First couple of days I def stuck to the liquid thing 100%. Here lately I have been making Soups with soft noodles and making sure I chew them very well. I myself am getting kind of sick of the liquid diet. I am ready to move on.

Yes. I am completely following my diet allowed by my surgeon. It may be all the liquids that is causing it?? I don't know just trying to figure out if it's normal or if Anyone else has experienced this as well ?

The past two days I have had diarrhea lots of times. Is this normal in the first couple of weeks ?

Amen! Good luck ladies, I am really nervous, too. But by this time tomorrow we will all be sitting on the "loser's bench". See you there!!Good luck ladies. I'm too excited to sleep. I go in at 7/730 AZ time. Still have some nervous doubts but I'm confident everything will be alright.
May God's hands be on all of us today & may the surgeons and staff be on too of our game. May our anesthesia and drugs be great! But our recovery and progress better.
Just checking in with you guys to see how it went ? I am barely tolerating a few bites of Jello. It tastes really sweet. Mostly ice chips and tea for me.

I had a revision to sleeve in March 16th. No problems whatsoever!! I am so happy to have that devil band out! You'll do just fine!
I have heard that band is horrible. I have seen a few people with good luck with it I guess. But for the most part horror stories. Lol. I'm feeling better about the surgery. The closer it gets the more I feel I have come to terms with it. I just hope it goes smoothly. I'm actually to the point I just want it over with. Lol. Like I can't wait for 3 more days to go by. Lol

It is a mind game, because you have limits on what you can and cant have! Be thankful you aren't on one of the harsher stricter pre-op diets. Mine was 3 Protein Drinks and liquids. I averaged 500-600 calories a day. Enjoy making the best healthy meals that you can on what you allowed, and know that these next 4 days will soon be over!
Thanks for that. I needed to hear that. Lol. I want to crawl in bed until it's over
No weight loss

Just seems hopeless. I weighed myself this morning and I am back up a lb. instead of going down I am going up. I'm about to scream. I know everything that is being said is true and make sense. But I don't eat nearly enough calories vs how many I burn to go up a lb. I'm just ready to see the scale go down. It's so discouraging. ????
