  1. You may not have to be out of school that long. I had mine done on Wed & was back to work the following Tues. I'm a school nurse. Dr said since not lifting & not hard job, it should be okay. First day back I did great. 2nd day was rougher, but 3rd day back to feeling great. Maybe try 1/2 days so not missing so much? Good luck!!

  2. I'm 3 weeks out and can't handle cheese, mushed fish (salmon) or cottage cheese. I can only do maybe 2 oz of anything at a time and I'm so full it hurts. I have no appetite so really have to force myself to eat. Am tired of flavored drinks like Crystal light. Found room tempature milk is the best for me. However, today I had an iced tea and it was wonderful! I know, no caffiene, but had to do it in order to get something down! :)

  3. I have always been a milk lover and cottage cheese lover. However, I've read that after this surgery, dairy intolerance is really bad. Milk goes down okay if room temp, but will come back up if I drink too fast. The Dr said I could actually have small curd cottage cheese on the liquid diet...I tried it several times but just can't do it. It hurts to eat, so gave up on it. However, like others have said.....try all kinds of Soups and blend them well. I just purchased a Faberware hand blender at Walmart for $17. Best purchase ever! you can mix your smoothies, shakes and Soups. I did chili last night, blended all the hamburger and Beans down to nothing and I didn't have to strain anything. I did chicken enchalada Soup the night before that with corn chips and cheese and it too blended down completely. Such a nice change in flavor!

Keep with it. You can do it! Tell yourself this is the big show now. What you've been working on! :) Good luck!!

  4. You guys will think I'm nuts saying this...but I'm 3 weeks post op. I'm not hungry at all, but all the food on the commercials looks so good! I had to go into town last week to buy a pizza for my son and his girlfriend. So I went thru McDonald's and got a $1 cheeseburger, chewed it up and would spit it back out in the sack. It's not the food I want but the texture and the taste that I miss so much! I had to laugh and told my husband after I got home, that was the best $1.08 i've ever spent! HA! And I felt great knowing all I did was chew it and not actually ingest it!

  5. Hi. I've been an RN for the last 23 years, currently been in school nursing/community health nursing the last 9.5 yrs. I just had my sleeve done 1/28/15. I'm also in a stall, which I know is lack of Protein and Water but am really pushing to work on this. I get full so fast, that nothing really sounds good and I end up forcing myself to eat/drink. I started at 273 in Nov at consult, to 242.8 this morning. The stalls are certainly frustrating, but I know i'm losing inches during them as well. It's a slower process than I thought it would be, but still glad I had it done.

  6. I'm 4weeks out post op. I was plagued by this as well first cpl weeks. I still have my moments, but don't seem to want to eat drink, like you. Saw the Dr last week who said everything looked good & it's all just a trial & error process. Wasn't concerned yet with my lack if eating/drinking. I've really pushed myself this week to eat more/drink more. However, like you, my wt is at a standstill. I'm sure from lack if Water & Protein. Hang in there. If broth works try going back to that & restarting.

  7. I'm a newbie as well. Just had mine done Jan 28, so am 4 weeks post op tomorrow. I am still on the liquid diet and moving up to pureed foods. Trial by error that's for sure! I started out at 273 in Nov when I consulted the Dr about surgery. I'm down to 243 right now. Have no appetite and am really pushing to get the amount of Water in and Protein in. It's hard, since not hungry at all, to force myself to eat and drink. The Dr at my first post op visit said do what you can.

I've been a dieter for the last 14 yrs so am really excited to have this behind me and be on the right healthy track!

  8. hello all. I am a newbie, 4 weeks (tomorrow) post op with the sleeve. I was very weary at first. I had no health issues other than severe IBS and history of a mild disc buldge in my back that I was hoping this would help. However, I have tried diets in the past, several times loosing up to 50lbs, only to gain back 60-70lbs. I figured I needed more help than just the diets were doing. I'm glad I've had it done, insurance was not covered so I paid all out of pocket. So far since presurgical, I'm donw 30lbs, 25 of which were in the first 2 weeks. It's hard, but I'm glad I did it. I'm now at a stand still with weight, but can tell I'm losing inches.

Don't let worry be your deciding factor. It's the best thing you can do for you. I've told myself that from day one of deciding. You can do this! :)

  9. Sorry you had to deal with that, but sounds to me like you are doing great. I am only 4 weeks (tomorrow) post op. I lost 25lbs in the first 2 weeks and am now at a complete standstill. There are lots of things i'm trying to eat that are not agreeing with me so I end up going back to Protein Shakes. I have no appetite and struggled up til now to get any liquids in or any Protein in. The Dr said this was okay, and it's a trial by error. I'd been loosing about 2.5 lbs a week but am now not loosing anything. I'm assuming lack of protein? I have not started an exercise routine yet as still have some abdominal discomfort.
