Congratulations! You look wonderful! I'm nearing my one year anniversary. Did you continue to lose into the second year? My progress is slow and I still want to lose more!

My most recent favorite quote is something along the lines of "Being overweight and out of shape is hard. Losing weight and getting fit is hard. Choose your hard." I had bypass surgery in late April this year. I was very scared, but followed through given that I had been living with the fear of having very serious health issues as a result of being overweight. Since I began the journey about a year ago, I have lost 60+ lbs. (50 since the surgery.). It has not been easy. However, I no longer live in fear from uncontrolled diabetes, joint pain, extremely high triglycerides, as well as numerous other health concerns. Conquer your fears and continue taking those steps toward improving your future! The photo is more like beginning and during as I still have a long way to go. It does , however give you an idea of how much better I now feel!attachment=57215:ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1444696373.628665.jpg]

My favorite: Simple Truth Double chocolate from Kroger. Inexpensive compared to the other brands as an added bonus.

I'm 55 and had my bypass April 27 of this year. I've lost close to 50 lbs since then (+another 15 lbs before starting this process.). Losing slower than some, but so grateful for the health benefits I am enjoying. My diabetes was out of control ... That is no longer the case. I have also hired a personal trainer ... one of the best things I have ever done for myself!

I meant to add 2+ lbs each week consistently for 3 months.

Don't get discouraged! You're doing fine. I also was at 247 the day of my surgery - April 27. I am down 30 lbs from there and a total of 44 from January 2015. I also work with a personal trainer and I walk 1 hr 4x per week. I've had my stalls too. Talk to your nut. and/or Dr. When I think my weight loss is moving too slow I do the math and ask myself when was the last time I lost 2+ lbs consistently for 3 months? Never! It's a marathon not a sprint! Good luck to you.

Since January 2015 I've lost 44 lbs. my surgery Roux en Y Gastric Bypass was April 27. Since my surgery I've lost about 30 -- seems kind of slow, but that's more than 10 lbs per month! (I started with a BMI of about 40.). I've hired a personal trainer for strength and I've been walking 40-60 minutes at least 4x week. Very happy with my decision to have the surgery.

My A1C was close to 10 before surgery and I was taking four oral medications plus long acting insulin to control it. Stopped taking it all immediately after surgery and it was down to 7 at two months post surgery. My endocrinologist started me on Januvia again only because studies show long term results to control blood sugar levels are better with one medication (usually they choose metformin, but I can't tolerate it.). Dr. said if my A1C continues to drop she will stop all diabetes meds again. Good luck.

Why the regrets? You're doing great! Thirty-one pounds in two months is almost four pounds per week. Congratulations. Celebrate your victories!

Perhaps you are trying to make too many changes at one time. Focus on one behavior change at a time! Start with small changes and be sure to give yourself credit for them! You can do this!

I am 55. Had Roux en Y on April 27. So far no complications and very little pain. Stayed in the hospital two days. Took a little Tylenol the first day home. It was a long process that started in August 2014. If you're just starting out, be patient. Your day will come. Expect to have days that you question your decision to do this. Keep moving forward. I am glad I did.

My RNY is also scheduled for April 28th! Also nervous, but looking forward to better health.

Thank you. This was a great help! I'm just over a year out from surgery and have had several episodes of low blood sugar. Very scary when it happens.
