Hard to eat - 6 month out! Whats the problem?

I have had throat issues since 3 wks after banding. At first I thought I had a fish bone stuck in my throat - the er doctor thought it was reflux (which I have never had prior to banding) I took the medicine for reflux - and it never seemed to work. I went off the meds and over time the situation has got much better - I rarely am bothered with this throat irritation - but SOMETIMES I AM - and it sucks. Tell me how the medical test goes I am interested in what you find out and what it is like. Take care - Nancy

    I feel so down!

fiveholts - sorry to hear you feel so bad. I have felt that way myself and like alot of us here - we can relate. I have learned over time to love myself cause no one else is going to for sure if I don't. I try to remember to be a good friend to myself and build myself up the same way I would my friend if she was down in the dumps about her self. Find a activity that you might enjoy and fit it into your routine. Maybe that will catch you off gaurd having fun and you will find that you might be able to make a subtle change for the better. Sorry to ask but i was wondering - have you had the band? I can't tell from your signature in your post. take care - nancy

  9. I just wanted to offer my commission work to anyone interested in gifting their loved ones with a one of a kind Poetry Art piece written just for them - inspired by your feelings. I get paid to create these one-of-a-kind pieces for people all the time to be given as treasured keepsakes and gifts to mark such occassions as a wedding, an anniversary, a memorial, a retirement, a birth of a child, a poem for your sister, brother, mother, father, grandparent, etc. My business is located mainly in the Ohio area but I do have pieces in Galleries in Indiana. I have been published for many years and have done many charity exhibit events where I exhibit my work. My commission pieces are very popular as people truly love getting something so dear and personal. No one can quite do what I can do - say what your heart is thinking....in a beautiful poetic - beautiful expression of art. If you would like pics of my art check out the following pic from one of the charity events that featured my Poetry Art Exhibit. If you are interested send me a quick email at visualpoetryart@aol.com. I charge $25.00 for a commissioned piece and if you want it framed and made into Poetry Art - the price over the $25.00 commission piece depends on the final product cost. I have made pieces with real gems and these can be quite pricey - but they are extremely beautiful. I have also made beautiful pieces that are priced quite reasonably....whatever you are looking for - I can usually come up with it. I also have beautiful (Personal Poems in a Bottle) that have beautiful gems and prism crystal decorative accents. The bottle is a great design with a cork and your personalized poem gift neatly tucked inside. This is a great fun - keepsake type gift that can include the greatest gift - a personalized poem written by me but most importantly - INSPIRED BY YOU - to gift to someone special in your life. Whatever you have to say - I can help you say it. Over the past 4 years that I have been selling my commission pieces I have had only satisfied (brought to tears) cutomers. I am very proud of this ability that I have and wanted to offer it to all of you - because you are my lap band family and I think you are all great. I find great joy in helping people say things they might never have had a chance to say - and I feel blessed to be a part of these special recordings of lives and love and humans and emotions of the world around me. If you are interested - send me an email - I would love to talk with you on what you might be interested in. Sincerely, nancy jean Poetry Art by nancy jean Attached Images

Do You Ever Wish You WEREN'T Banded?

Only sorry that so much damage has been done to my body before I was able to get the band. Now that i have the band I can only be hopeful that all goes well. I must keep a healing positive attitude toward the band. Even during the problems I had, supposed reflux, etc. - I was happy that I had this chance to lose the weight. I may have had moments of being scared - but I tried to ignore the fears and plug forward. I knew that was the only way for me. If I admitted to myself I thought I had made a mistake - I might freak out and want it out of me like some crazy person.....so I just try to accept it like a fact. nancy

How many CCs was your first fill??

Doc said I received approx. 2.0 cc's but said you have to account a little for what is still left in the tubing during the fill process. Maybe that's why sometimes after a fill you will end up feeling tighter all of a sudden because the Fluid finally all goes in that was in the tubing. Does that make any type of sense??? I don't feel any different - but I am on liquids so I just feel a little hungry - but I am too afraid of complications to do anything wrong. nancy

    1st Fill -- pain question

Had my first fill today - luckily - no pain so far. Hoping all is cool with it. Can't wait - to get through this liquid phase again. Nothing sounds good. I just want to lose the rest of my weight. Nancy

Just for getting to know each other...

    1. What does your handle mean? (That's my dream - being with the band - I write lyrics and would love to hook up with one of my favorite artists - like Kid Rock to write songs) 2. What book are you currently reading, or did you last read? The Path of Prayer and another book - A million little pieces 3. What do you do for a living? I am a Poetry Artist - I do exhibits of my work and sell my work at shows. I write commission work for people and do a lot of donations to silent auctions, etc. My whole existence has been a Quest to "Get Famous" for my poetry and artwork. I insist and crave this before I die. I do not want to go the way of so many artists and only claim fame after death.....I want it now while I can see it and enjoy it. There is nothing I like better than being in attendance at an exhibit of my poetry art and be able to see the reaction from the crowd....it is worth everything. 4. For what in your life are you most grateful? God and the gift of Poetry that he graced my life with and ~ My husband Don with whom I share true great romantic love (another thing I really wanted in this lifetime). 5. What's one thing about you that you think would surprise other people? (I can really put on the work face - I am sooooo different in person than the persona I can create for the situation at hand for the job to get done). I am really really funny and quite a peacemaker - I can assimilate to any situation and can really get people to tell me literally anything. 6. One word to describe yourself? vivacious 7. One word others use to describe you? nice 8. Would you rather play a game with someone better or worse at it than you? better 9. Favorite movie? The Other Side of Midnight (Susan Sarandon 1977) Favorite show? Hands Down - LOST - ADDICTED TO IT!!!!!!! Can hardly wait each week for Wednesday to roll around. I love the character Sawyer (Always a sucker for a bad boy - Good Grief is he HOT!!!!!!!!) Favorite Singer? (Added my own) KID ROCK - I love his way about mixing things up. If I could meet anyone in the world it would be him - hands down!!!!! (People find this quite weird about me - one would never figure!!!!) 10. Something unusual about yourself? I have great perception. I have seen direct miracles happen in response to prayer and I feel a great connection to the spiritual part of people. I make instant connections to people and they totally lose their gaurd with me. My husband can never get over it still after 20+ years of being around me. When I was young I saw my husband with another friend (from gradeschool) and I was jealous for some reason - didn't understand it then - but now realize it was because i was jealous of someone being with my future husband. I firmly believe that we knew each other before...

    Port Replacement??

It seems as if my port which is situated on my lower left stomach seems to somehos make contact with my rib cage and I feel uncomfortable like I need to stretch out or sit up straight but my Lap Band nurse swears it is no where near my port - it seems like it is about 2 inches near it to me. I have rib issues sometimes when I lay on that side but it seems to be getting better. I am trying to send healing vibes to my body to accept my band and keep all well inside of me. Nancy

    Venting Thread - Erosion Anxiety

Ladies - Ladies - please get a hold of yourselves..... take a deep breath and those of you who really believe that you are eroded (and not in sympathy distress for our fellow LBT members) call your docs and get checked out. Erosion is not something one can ignore from what I can tell. TommorrowsDream - I wish you would not let this scare you. LBT is a large forum visited by people from all over the world. The odds are incredibly high and the fact that problems are discussed are merely a portion of the LBT experience. Problems are just highlited as members reach out in frustration, etc. I am sure that there are many happy lapbanders who will tell you that the surgery is worth it. Please don't be afraid of the cure - be afraid of the disease. Take care - nancy

    Where are the happy bandsters?

I've been banded since July and would not go back on my decision. My sister had Deudenal Switch Surgery 4 years ago and she still suffers different problems from the malabsorption caused by the surgery. I wanted to be as close to normal as possible. I had what they thought was a little reflux 3 weeks after banding till just a little while ago. I used to think - I couldn't stand it if the band had caused it and my doc told me to let my body get adjusted. Happily - I feel much better now and I don't take any meds at all. I'm glad I didn't get scared - I'm glad I have the band. I also worry about all the bad reports - but I am happy to have the info. I do take note of the success stories - look once at the before and after pics - they tell a story....one that gives me hope. I hope that you find some comfort here and know that a lot of us are very happy that we have had the band. Remember - most of us are women and we like to over-study, over-worry things and the band being new - this is a wide open arena for us. The best thing we can do is to continue a good relationship with our doctors. I am troubled quite often by the reports that people have when they have problems and it seems if the docs don't know something they (some) try to avoid the patient. These reports scare me and I am hoping that I never run into problems like that. My docs seem so nice - I can't imagine them being like some of these reports. One of the things I like is the relationship that I have with my lap band nurse - she is available to me by phone anytime and she meets with me once a month to go over anything regarding my band, my progress, my concerns, etc. This is a very helpful service that was part of the lap band surgery so it is paid in full for a year after surgery. My nurse can then report any problems to the doc and have tests, etc. ordered by the doc and if I would need to see the doc she sets this up. But nothing can compare to the knowledge that if I have any question - at any time of day - if I just want to vent fears, problems, victories, whatever - I can come to LAPBANDTALK and find a place where I belong. Thanks guys - Nancy

I am walking the floors almost in tears.

ladysplenda - The reason why we choose the band is because it is reversable. If (God forbid) something goes wrong they can reverse it and try to put you back to normal. I would not get too excited about the bad reports....it is good to know these things - but don't let them overshadow the good reports. Take care and try not to worry. Let us know how you are. Nancy
