    Taking off my fat suit

So, I am 1 week from surgery today and I actually can't believe how amazing I feel! Surgery went well, I was in Hosp two nights which is standard for my surgeon. I had a bit of gas on my chest but nothing major, and two small bouts of nausea, but otherwise I have felt fantastic! I'm actually nervous about how good I feel, like it's too good to be true! The day of surgery I was sleepy all day, so just sat in the chair and drifted in and out. The second day I was up walking etc, and emotions were a bit up and down, but by day three when I went home it's been getting better and better every day. I've had no regrets and amazingly no head hunger! A little real hunger but easily satisfied. I'm drinking ok, I feel it going down and am working on taking in less air when I drink, but I can do 250ml Water or Protein shake in 10 mins. My mood is great, I thought I would struggle emotionally, and I know there will be tough times ahead, but for 1 week out I'm so pleased :-) And, I am 9lbs down since surgery, 21lb since started pre op diet. Very very happy right now :-)
  2. I leave at 6am for the hospital tomorrow morning. I don't yet know the time of my surgery but really hope it's early! I am a complete mix of nerves and excitement. I just want to get it over and done with so I can start living the rest of my life! This really is a big week for me as I left my job of 10 years today too, so life really is changing, but certainly for the better!!
  3. I'm done! All went well, my pain is well controlled currently. Feels very surreal!

    Getting sleeved tomorrow!

I'm done! All went well, my pain is well controlled currently. Feels very surreal!
  5. I'm up tomorrow too! Crazy mix of nervous excitement! Can't wait to be on the sleeved side and start dealing with the reality rather than worrying about the unknown! Good luck everyone...we've got this!

    Fobi ring

Does anyone have any experience of these with a sleeve? I've been offered one today (surgery in two weeks) and wasn't expecting it so undecided! Gut feeling is I don't want it, but id be interested in any experiences people can share?

    Fobi ring

Thanks avafern :-) I have decided to go ahead WITHOUT the fobi ring. I figure the surgery on its own has been successful for so many, and if I use it correctly it will be for me too :-)

17 days post-op and feeling FANTASTIC!

So encouraging to read this! I am 10 days away from having my op and getting nervous!

    Taking off my fat suit

Thanks @mrssugarbabe. I'm starting to get a lot of pre op nerves!! My pre op diet is quite flexible, basically low carb and calorie, which I'm finding easy to stick to and is also flexible enough that I have been away for the weekend and eaten out at restaurants etc ok. It's starting me thinking why can't I just do this by myself, and also if I'm honest seeing the menu in various restaurants gets me thinking about all the food I'm going to miss!! Which is EXACTLY why I need this op and why I can't do it by myself. I'm just getting anxious of what life post sleeve will be like! I'm going to keep trying to be positive and accept that some nerves are normal, but believe I can do this and it will be ok!!
  13. I am booked in for sleeve surgery on 28 may so on day two of pre op diet today. I currently drink a lot of Water, I always have, atleast 90-100oz a day. One of my big fears post op is wanting to drink water but not being able to as I read so much about people struggling to get water in. Id be grateful if anyone can share their experience and explain if the problem with getting enough water is not physically being able to drink it or not liking to drink so much!? Thanks in advance ????

    Taking off my fat suit

Thanks @@EJS, it's good to hear about someone who's had the fobi ring as I hadn't even heard of it before. I'm Going to stick with just the sleeve! The point of the ring is to prevent regain in the future I believe but if I learn to work with the sleeve correctly then I don't plan on regaining anyway! How is your recovery going, are u ok physically? Is the difficulty getting food in because u literally don't have space, or it makes u sick? I hope it improves for you soon. I'm really apprehensive of how tough it will be post op to drink and eat, but know I need to do this and the health benefits will make it worthwhile! How is your weight loss going?

    Taking off my fat suit

So, I am all booked in for two weeks today, Thursday 28 may! Arhhhh! Scary and exciting and a real mix of emotions! Start my pre op tomo, so it's my last meal tonight! Just want to get on with it now so I can just deal with it rather than worry about dealing with it! I've been given the option of a fobi ring, does anyone have any experience with these they can share?
  16. Hi pmed, Welcome :-) I am new here too and completely relate to your mix of emotions! Im in the uk and as self pay the process can be as quick as two weeks. In fact I am going to meet the surgeon, anaesthetist, nurse and nutritionist today for the first time and for pre op tests. I am hoping to get a surgery date for 2 weeks time, may 28! Although I am scared of the op itself as I've never been put to sleep before and I'm worrying about the pain after and adjusting to my new life I just want to get on with it all as then I can just deal with what it's really like rather than worry about what it might be like! Great news about your insurance :-)

    Taking off my fat suit

Thankyou :-) I have to admit, I do have a tendency to worry a lot and can be quite anxious/negative so I'm working really hard to be positive about this from the start!

    Taking off my fat suit

Yes def be great to keep in touch, as you say it's much less common in the uk. I'm in Southampton, doctor is Michael van den Bossche. I'm seeing him next thurs, and hoping for 28th may for surgery. How are you getting on now, have you started purrees yet? Do you have a goal weight? I'm aiming to lose 130lbs! In the past I've always set my goals much higher to be 'realistic' and as a result I've always messed it up when I hit the goal. This time I'm going for broke and aiming for a bmi below 25! Surreal to even imagine it!
  20. Hi all, I am hoping to get confirmation to have my sleeve surgery on 28 may. My daughter has a hospital appointment on 1 June, so 4 days after my surgery. Will I be up to attending this with her? I know we are all different and also it depends if all goes smoothly but to get an idea from others would be helpful. Thanks in advance ????

    My Story...

Ah that's great to hear, both with the Water and wine ???? I go for my consultation and pre op tests on 14 may. Hoping for surgery 28 may. I'm nervous but excited to just get on with it!

    My Story...

Really great to read this and hear you're doing so well! Congratulations on such a fab loss so far, brilliant! I'm pre op so it's really encouraging to read you have come through the tough times and are feeling better emotionally. That's a big concern for me. Can I ask how u get on with drinking? Can u just take small sips? So drinking a glass of Water takes an hour? Well done again and I look forward to your next update!

    My Story...

Hi there livingstone, I'm in the uk too, near Winchester. I read your posts with real interest, they are honest and sincere and reflect my own feelings too. I'm pre op, planning on having surgery late may/early June as I leave my job then. I have all the fears you spoke of, as well as the hopes. I have an almost 4 year old daughter, she is my world and a huge reason for wanting the surgery is to ensure I am fit and healthy to care for her, have fun with her, and see her grow up. But it's also my biggest fear that should there be a complication I would be deserting her. So hard but like you I try to focus on the rational thinking and be positive. I hope each day is a better one for you. I am sure in a month you will be writing of how far you've come and how good you feel. It's a process and I'm suspecting the 'head stuff' is the bigger challenge. Stay strong and focussed, and if it helps then you should know you're already an inspiration :-)

    Weight Loss

I'm near Southampton, plan on using michael van den bossche at the spire hospital. I'm hoping for surgery in May, need to book my consultation etc. I'm still a bit scared of committing to it..,I know it's right and I need to get it done, but it's scary! At the same time a bit exciting too! How are you getting on with drinking water? That's one of my biggest concerns as I drink a lot!!

    Weight Loss

Hi, I'm yet to even have my initial consultation, but wanted to say hi as I'm in uk too! Hope your surgery went ok and you're recovering? I'm sure the weight will start to drop off soon. What surgeon/Hosp did you use?? And would you mind sharing what the pre/post op diet is you're following? X
