  1. Thank you for the input peeps :-)

GoWalking: I am now using the My Fitness Pal App! Thank you!!! it even tracks my steps via my iPhone!!! YAH!!! Just what I needed!! :D

B-52.....LOL sorry I couldn't help but giggle at the "phases of moon" ect ....LOL :P

I think I will just stay away from the scale ...Ok ....just try to weigh myself lke 1x month or 2x month vs going insane weighing myself all the time

Thanks Bandista, I am going to go by what's fitting me and how my mobility is, I have increased my activity, it now includes yard work! So I'm burning calories + inches....I think I will stick to weighing 1 or 2 x month instead of oh...every few days ...

I shall keep everyone posted ! Onward to Healthy!!!

  2. I gained 4 lbs....I am thinking it's my own fault...I mean the lapband didn't do anything different. Now I have to figure out what I did wrong and Why and admit to myself so I can get past it.

I am grieving over the unexpected loss of my dad 4 months ago. NO that is NO excuse to eat wrong/more

but it doesn't mean I listened..

My PCOS also hampers weight loss, it makes it much slower/harder than normal. Again NOT an excuse.

I admit, I have done something...too many calories? I ate too much? Do we calorie count? I know I ate too much at Easter dinner because I felt So FULL for hours and hours and I felt gross...I am trying to keep that memory alive so I don't repeat it!

I wasn't active at all because I had shoulder pain then back pain which made me sedentary...I am thinking now I should of ate less because of that.

    I wasn't keeping a food journal...uh huh...looks like I'm an idiot. ..I should have!! I DO NOW!

All I can think is I ate too much, I know I wasn't following the PFC plan 100%...

I needed to admit to myself what I have done wrong, then to this forum so I am accountable...

After all the lap band hasn't changed..if too much is put in...oh it comes RIGHT BACK UP and or I get that Not fabulous burping gurgling....ugh.

*slaps self* Ok...I must get past this.. it's not easy...but I know I have to live with life's upsets and get past this...know my mistakes and move forward...

So...am I supposed to calorie count? or do I just stick to the PFC way of eating? <<getting used to that is hard<<

I still find it hard to not drink while eating, I get so thirsty, but food & liquid do NOT mix with the band...ooooo noooo it does not...

That is my confession for today...

  3. Oh heck, I'm pretty sure I would of um slapped silly anyone who told me I needed WLS....LOL but hey that's just me..LOL

I don't know why young people are getting so heavy? It seems to me that improper foods, lack of exercise play a big part in it. Back in my day, there were No computers, no cell phones, we played outside, walked everywhere. I think today's society is too automated, too much junk food available and no one to teach the difference. Though today's food is GMO or just straight chemicals..

Fast food and junk food is pushed on our kids today, it's in schools in cafeteria's! At one place I worked, I had to campaign for low fat, low calorie foods in the cafeteria! There wasn't even any fruit!!

Oh and nooooo I so would Not go up and tell anyone they needed WLS...I'm still obese, I'd die if someone said that to me...though you won't catch me with bad foods Anywhere! It's NOT worth it!

  4. I hope I never post something stupid...

I have to agree with the Truths you posted under your names ProjectMe & Lipstick lady...they are very correct!

I never understood how the lapband worked before ( I won''t get into that it's in the past) lets just say I UNDERSTAND now.

It's all of the things you posted under you names and then some.

It was eye opening for me to understand it finally! that is is a tool to help me NOT a miracle cure. That I have to make a 110% lifestyle change for LIFE. I have to accept that I can never eat what I did before or even have as much liquids.

I understand all those things and I am willing to make the change for life.

If I should post something stupid ...do slap me one and let me know

I am only at the start of my journey so I'll liable to say something dumb..

Just go ahead and let me know if I do!! :-)

  5. The band doesnt make us lose weight. It just helps us to feel a little less hungry. Weight loss is down to us taking in fewer calories than we burn. Exercise helps but only slightly. So if you are not losing as fast as you hoped, you are eating too much! It really is that simple.

January 28th is only 6 weeks away, isn't it? Maybe that was a typo as you had a fill on Feb 3rd??

With a comparatively small amount to lose, your loss will be slower than for someone with 100 or more pounds to lose but 8lbs in 6 weeks is within the normal range of 1-2lbs a week. If you are comfortable with your current good intake, keep on as you are. Slow but steady loss. If you aren't, eat a bit less.

If it is 8lbs in 10 weeks, yes that is slow! But that's how it goes for some people.

We all differ but I lost all my excess weight on just under 1200 calories a day - many need to go lower.

    Are you counting/ measuring food?

I am only just starting..but I have to agree with you. The lapband is a Tool to help me lose weight not a cure. I understand it all now, which is something I didn't before. My doctor told me I could lose as little as 1\2 lb a week..I told him Any weight lost per week was a WIN.

I don't expect that I will lose 25 lbs every 6 wks, I expect at some point I will have to change up my diet (or maybe many times before I'm healthy) by eating less calories &/or different foods. It's work, it's something you have to commit to..it's a total lifestyle overhaul. Which is something I am 110% committed to for the rest of my life :-)

  6. Aww thank you everyone! I'm just so amazed!! I thought I was dreaming when I saw my weight!! :o Thanks Pink Dahlia.. :)

GoWalking ...you have ..or I guess you do have an idea how happy I am to be part of the "Loser's Club" YAHOOOO!!!!

B-52...I was at a Vietnamese restaurant for my Sister-en-laws birthday, I didn't know what else to eat? I'm not experienced with that type of food. I eat Thai, but that is totally different. All I could think was...it's Small...I'm pretty sure I can chew it.

Thank you Bandista & Just Watch Me

I truly appreciate all the encouragement and advice :) I am on my way to a healthy body!! YAH!!!

    Onward to Healthy!!

  7. :D :D Happy Dance Happy Dance!!!!! I can finally weigh on a normal household scale!!! WOW!!! My BMI is under 50 I'm like

so amazed and so excited...I can't believe it!! It all seems so amazing to me!! I had no idea that the band could help me like this!!

Sure I only lost 25 lbs so far but I can't believe the difference it has made! wow! I can't even begin to imagine what it will be like in another 25 lbs from now!

I was just so excited I had to tell someone....Plus I eat so little! & I'm not hungry it's like wow...who knew? I never would of thought I could eat so little and NOT be hungry!! I ate a spring roll...took me over 20 mins to eat it and when done...I was Full!!! There I was at a restaurant and all I could eat was the spring roll! LOL

Anyway sorry to babble on but I'm just so awe struck by it all!! I'm working my way to healthy!! to being able to to the outdoor activities I want to do!! to be the healthy person I know I can be :-)

  8. I'm new here & pre surgery but I have PCOS too and I'm grateful to hear so many success stories because I have my own fears about losing the weight. It has always been so hard & slow to lose weight for me and I worry if I will lose weight with surgery the way so many others have or if it will be difficult because of my PCOS. I have about 200lbs to lose but I am hopeful!

I think (in my case anyway) IMO that its harder for me with PCOS to lose weight...even with the band...I lost 12 lbs in the past month but I'm not counting on that to be the norm every month & my doc says it can even be 1/2 lbs or less a week losing...but I'm Ok with ANY weight loss as you can see I have to lose 200+ also but I am just going to take it one day at a time... and face each day as it comes...that's all I can do.. I am keeping a positive outlook no matter what! I believe in the power of positive thinking :-) It's Hard work & it's Not easy but I know we can do it!!

  9. Easy?? Grrrrrr I have a intense desire to SMACK that person!!! I am glad that you can let it roll off you, that is the best thing to do :)

I find people that judge generally have a LOT of "issues" with themselves and deflect that onto others!

I am PROUD of my lap band!! I will shout it from roof tops! IF someone doesn't like it or thinks it's an Easy way out they have ZERO knowledge of it and I don't care for their opinion...they can KISS MY Butt!!

I walk away from people who speak like your co worker...I don't listen to idiots...just saying... ;)

  10. Good post :)

My doctor just told me today, Not to get hung up on the losing weight part, basically stating a lot of the same things you just said. Everyone is different. Plus it's more about Learning how to eat healthy, Portion Control, it's a Lifestyle change he said it's like learning how to eat all over again. I agree I am way more aware of my food now of what I choose to eat, I never take less than 20 mins to eat It's a total lifestyle change FOR MY LIFE and For my Lifetime. I understand that now.

I understand the lap band is a Tool to help me achieve that :)

  11. **** UPDATE**** Whooooeeeeeee!!! :D I went to see my lap band doctor today 30 days since I first saw him!

He weighed me and ......I have Lost 12 pounds!!!!

***Happy dances around room**** Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! :D :D This is fabulous!! It means I am really getting the hang of the lap band & how to use it!!! He is the most amazing doctor!! :)

I told him everything I was doing, how I was experimenting as to what food I could eat, how I stayed away from slider foods. How its ALL about the Chewing! How I eat Protein first then veggies then left over stuff. I am doing vegetarian (NOT a diet, it's a life style change) I like vegetarian food the most so that is what I am changing my lifestyle eating to :)

There ya have it! 2nd time IS the charm! I have learned how to use the band!!! Yah!!! There are foods I've had to give up :( I looooove Chinese food...but it doesn't love the band...so I gave up on that..rice doesn't like the band either which means any sushi I want to eat can take like oh an hour to chew enough to get a piece down so for now I've given up that too ... :( let alone trying to chew the seaweed!

That's my update for now! I only weigh myself 1x per month so it will be another 30 days before I know weight loss again. Meanwhile I shall continue with what I've been doing!

    :D
