I wish I had your composure Gracy! I have peace about my decision and am committed to working this hard. Best wishes with your surgery tomorrow!I guess I'm an odd bird. Everyone keeps asking if I'm nervous about surgery tomorrow and honestly I'm not. I've been at peace about it since I decided to go forth with the surgery. Take a deep breath and relax...It's all going to work out as it should.

Thanks, that made me feel a lot better hearing it from someone who's been there in a similar situation!Don't sweat it, it's a breeze! It's natural to be nervous though, we all were.
I had a lower BMI also going in (39) and didn't have any complications at all.

I've got one more day left of my pre-op Diet and then Wednesday I'm on all Clear Liquids. Thursday is my surgery. I'm starting to really get nervous at the fact that this is non-reversible. It's a huge commitment and I've been planning this for over 7 months, but the whole anesthesia thing has been a huge psycho factor for me so I'm trying to get my nerves under control. So many what if's to consider. I'm relatively healthy with no real issues other than my obesity and mildly high cholesterol, I've got a lower BMI (was 39 at time of first visit, now down to 37) so I've been afraid that the operation may actually create issues based on some of the complication stories I've read. I'm praying that is NOT the case for me. Is it normal to have complications or are they usually associated with those who've got a much more complex array of co-morbidities and higher BMI? Any help would be appreciated!

My pre-op diet has been a choice of lean Protein and unlimited non-starchy vegetables or a Protein Shake 3x's a day. No fruit, dairy, Pasta, breads or rice of any kind. I've got one more day left and then Wednesday I'm on all Clear Liquids. I'm starting to really get nervous at the fact that this is non-reversable. I'm 43, from NJ and am mother of 3 and am scheduled for 5/21 in five days, *gulp! I'm excited to be this close but am still a nervous nellie. Trying to remain calm and look forward to all the good things to come! Best of luck on this journey!

That is so great to hear! Glad you're doing well. I'm 5 days from now, I so needed to hear a positive post-op experience!

I've had the same thoughts tangle my mind. We're both on this journey together and are having surgery on the same day. I suggest we check in with each other to talk about not the what if's but the what's going on now to help us keep ourselves focused on staying on track and overcoming the addiction. Accountability partners often help a lot! I'm happy to vent, experiment and journal this process with you if you'd like a cyber-twin going through the same process at the same time. Today I say we've got this. Five days to go before our new lives start for the better and I am so excited to get through the healing and on to the new world waiting.

I think she lost 50-60 total before getting pregnant

My surgery is scheduled for Monday the 18th. I'm super nervous but know it will all be worth it. I only fear I won't lose like I expect to. Only time will tell. The two week prep has been tough for me. I haven't had one soda since I started the prep. And only eating one meal a day when my stomach is still normal sized is hard. I do the Protein shakes. Those help a lot and I'm very blessed with a supportive husband but ahhhhh! I'm ready to get the surgery over with and start my family when the time is right. I have pcos and it's miserable to deal with. It has caused me a lot of grief and has me infertile. Prayers needed and I'll be praying for you all as well. Keep in touch!
Tricia, my friend has pcos and had the sleeve done over a year and a half ago and was pregnant in less than a year after she had surgery! She's due in late July/ early August!

Very excited! We've got 1 week to go! I did my pre-op testing today and had boot camp yesterday. This sh*t is real now!

Thanks! I ordered my sample pack! It's a better deal if you call the company directly. You get 15 samples, one of each flavor, for 15 plus like 1.99 for shipping and it comes in just a few days. But Vitamin Shoppe also sells it.

Wishing you much success as you lose!

Good luck to everyone about to start their pre-op diet. I've lost 10 lbs within the last month just by cutting out carbs, alcohol and almost all caffeine. I am most surprised that I don't miss coffee! I'm starting 2 shakes a day and a light meal until two days prior to surgery when I go to all clear liquid. Jumping in with both feet now!

Thanks for posting this. I'm another Jersey Girl, about to get sleeved 5/21, 11 days to go. Ugh was stressing about anesthesia too! Not sure why. You think I'd be more concerned about my new stomach healing properly lol

This is something that I've wondered about too. Thanks for asking. Does anyone know what would cause a leak to occur?

Hi Mindy,
How did your surgery go?

Hi,
I'm scheduled for May 18th! Very close to your date. Like your husband, I have the band, but luckily mine is problematic enough that it's a medical necessity to have it removed. I start my pre-op diet on the 4th, the same day as my pre-op appt. I must say that I'm nervous yet excited about the journey. I'm nervous because I've been through this WLS journey before with the expectation of full success, but I only achieved half the results I was hoping for. I'm trying to have a more positive outlook this time, hoping to finally achieve my dream!
Hi there Dream125,
My husband just told me today thar he had a customer come in to his store who just had the band to sleeve done 6 weeks ago who said it was such a big difference. He already lost 50lbs! Best wishes to you on achieving your dream! Sounds like you're headed in the right direction! To support me as well as get healthy himself, my husband is going to refill his band and give it another shot since he has no other options. Maybe since we'll be doing it together it will work better for him this time. He lost about 50lbs total 7 years ago but then never went to get it adjusted and just gained it all back.
I'm May 19th! So excited, nervous, then excited, scared, anxious, all wrapped up into one!
Haha! My feelings exactly!

Mine is of a butterfly I photographed on vacation a couple years ago. It reminds me of how as I progress through this path after surgery that I will be a beautiful person who once hid inside the cocoon before shedding it and revealing the person I truly am.
