  1. I hear about everybody's rapid weight loss but never thought I would stall at three weeks. I spent last night and this morning crying, wondering why I did this to not lose much
  2. Well I'm three weeks from RNY surgery and have hit a stall. Down 18 pounds and the scale sits for a week at the same exact weight no matter what I do. I walked 3 miles yesterday rode the bike 3 miles and did strengthening exercises I am drinking what I'm supposed to, getting in my protein and the scale still doesn't move. I'm so depressed I don't know what to do
  3. Dannon Fit & Light makes an amazing yogurt drink with 17 grams of protein. I am on the purée stage and still reach for them for breakfast.
  4. I'm gonna tell you something the PA told me at my pre-op appt. and it has saved my life getting through this process. I had surgery 3/16 and I have been crazy trying to get my head around 4 weeks (2 wks pre surgery and 2 wks post) of liquids. She said chew sugar free gum. JUST DONT SWALLOW IT!!!!! ( it could cause a blockage). I am very careful but it truly has saved me from going completely bananas!!! And it's a sweet treat. My favorite is Juicy Fruit. Hope this helps!
  5. I use Milk of magnesia every couple of days because I am not having regular BM's. It cleans me out and the bloating and gas goes away
  6. I did the same as Mookiemen and held my side when transferring and the pain went away. Eventually it did subside and it's now it's gone
  7. I had my RNY on 3/16 and had the same exact pain. I went to my doctor and he told me it was from having to cut through the abdominal wall and then it's perfectly normal. He told me it would go away within a week or two and prescribed me Valium to try and relax.
  8. I found an awesome recipe app for those looking for gastric bypass nutritional needs. It's called Spark Recipes. There are sugarfree dessert recipes, high protein recipes. I can't wait till I can eat soft foods so that I can try some of the recipes. They look amazing!!! Hope this helps!????
  9. I use "My Fitness Pal". I love it!!
  10. Congratulations! It's a journey you will never forget. Good luck and welcome to the party
  11. Today I pooped on my own without the need of milk of magnesia for the first time in 8 days. I was at the store and was wondering what that feeling was I was in my bowels. I know I've had that feeling before but had to reach back into my memory bank to figure out what it was. My surgery was 3/16/15, and I was wondering if I was ever going to poop on my own again! For those of you who have been pooping on your own since surgery you don't have any idea what a milestone this is. For those of you who have not pooped yet on own, your day will come!!!! I promise!
  12. I also had surgery on 3/16. And I had the same kind of day yesterday that you are having! I wasn't losing anything on the scale and my family was eating awesome food around me. I was regretting my surgery decision. I just wanted to put the food in my mouth for the taste then spit it out. I talked myself out if it. It WILL get better I promise. I keep repeating what my doctors motto is... "I'm not saying it's going to be easy, I'm saying it's going to be WORTH IT". I repeat that to myself 100x a day and it gets me through. I feel like crap less and less everyday and we are inching closer to the stage where we can get away from the clear liquids and add yogurt, thick protein shakes and creamed soups. Yay!!!! I am with you on this ( we are surgery twins). I can't tell you how to feel your feelings are yours but I can tell you that you have support to get you to your goal. I don't know what I would have done without this app. It has gotten me thru so many hurtles. Hang in there!
  13. I love the Pure Protein shakes but can't take till next week. My hubby found Ensure Clear Protein drinks at CVS ( a pharmacy around us). It's new and not that disgusting
  14. I also had surgery on the 16th. I was in the hospital for two days and have been home for three. Was allowed 1 ounce of fluid every 15 minutes in the hospital, now that I'm home I'm sipping clear liquids all day long. I'm not supposed to start the protein shakes until Sunday but I did sneak half of one in today and was thrilled. You can also try some sugar-free Jell-O. I had one today and found myself chewing it. It was very exciting. I am currently down 6 pounds from surgery day and I plan to start exercising tomorrow a little. It sounds like you're off to a great start you just have to find what you can stomach right now. Good luck and Id love to hear updates
  15. Congrats!!! I am 5 days post op and am down 6 lbs. I have no idea why I thought I would wake up from surgery 50 lbs lighter, although that would be nice. I am learning that small loses are huge gains. Keep up the good work!
  16. Hugs (light, no squeezing) and prayers coming your way
  17. I went from Lap Band (2005) to Gastric Bypass-3/16/15. I lost minimal Amy of wt with the band and HAD to do something. I am very please that I made the decision for surgery despite the fact that I am in pain now. It's a very personal, life changing choice but I'm glad I decided to do it. All the best to you and your decision
  18. I had mine on March 16th. 2 days in hospital now home for 2 days. I felt better in the hospital probably due to IV fluids but glad I'm home in my own bed. I am having a horrible time getting my protein in because I HATE the liquid protein available to me now. I can't wait for stage 2 when I can have protein shakes. If feels weird not to feel hungry for the first time in my life. I am pushing the chicken broth, tea, and diet cranberry juice like crazy. I pour my minimum oz. for the day then I know what i have to get through to get my fluids in. The only advice I can give is keep on top of the pain meds, it allows you to move around like you should. I heard some people say they started exercise the day they came home from the hospital. God bless them. I don't think I can get off the couch for more than 10 mins without pain. I feel like I've been punched in the gut 20 times. But will admit everyday is a little easier. I am taking day by day. Wishing everyone the best in their journey
  19. Omg. Congrats!!! I can't wait to be able to shout that out to the world. I am only 5 days out from surgery. Enjoy the feeling!!!!
  20. Thank you for the advice. I have the nectar powder but I'm not allowed to use it until next week. I am going to have my hubby look for protein pills tomorrow. Good luck on your journey!
  21. My doctor told me to drink Isopure and dilute it, or mix it with something else. But the ungodly taste still comes through and I vomit a little when I drink it. Is there any other way to get the protein into my body during the first stage? Any kind of help would be appreciated
  22. Okay I have a question. I just got home from the hospital a few hours ago and before I got into bed I decided to weigh myself and I have gained 7 pounds. I lost 12 prior to surgery and gained 7 of it back in 2 days. Please tell me theres no reason to panic.
  23. Sam. Just take it day by day. When I was on the 2 wk liquid diet I thought I would die. I was starving all the time. But now that that part is over and I survived I can look back on it and understand it was necessary. This is your journey and need to experienced step by step. You WILL get thru it I promise you. Good thing is I lost 14 lbs in the weeks prior to surgery when on liquid diet. So hang in there.
  24. To foodfighter. My GB was 3/16 as well. How are you doing? I hopefully go home today from hospital. I am already sick of Isopure, chic broth and tea. I am taking day by day and looking forward to next Mon when I can start protein shakes. Best of luck
  25. I would love to hear back on how everyone did. I lost 12 lbs on the 2wk liquid diet before the surgery. So know Jodi's journey begins. I writing a book about the journey and I would love to meet up with a few of your for comments in the book. Please let me know if anyone interested in having your mini story in the book. I will come to you. Thx Jodi
