  1. My sister had the VSG done with Dr. Ortiz and had a great experience. She is now 2+ weeks post op and isn't having any issues! She's following the diet to a T, and just started eating mashed potatoes this week, she was so happy! She was off pain meds by the time she left for home. She did fly first class home so she was a bit more comfy. Good luck!
  2. @@Jovie62 I am starting with OWLS and Dr. Patterson. I don't know anything of Dr. Halpin, but I have heard good things about the clinic! Good luck!
  3. Personally I'd love to get down to 165, so I would have lost half my body weight. But I would be happy under 200, anything is better than 331! I'd love to be a size 10 pant and a medium-large top. As long as I feel good, I'll be thrilled!
  4. @@smile121 I heard from the dr's office and I am scheduled for all the initial evals next Friday. I am bringing all my stuff from WW to add to their chart. I am going to see if getting my psych records from when I did counseling will help too. I did call Cigna's benefits and they looked at the same sheet we've all looked at. The confusion is where it states WW in their explanation. It leaves room for interpretation. Even the woman on the phone agreed it was a grey area. She told me to have the surgeon submit it all, and see what they say. In the mean time, I am meeting with my primary doc next Friday as well to do another weigh in. Crossing my fingers something works.
  5. I am going in next Friday to do all the work up (except Pscyh)! I will have an at home sleep study that weekend. I have a tentative appointment for an online psych eval, since they gave me only non covered psychologists to talk to. So we'll see. I am so excited!!

    Hey everyone! New here!

My sister had surgery (VSG) 2 weeks ago in TJ. She had my mom with her and it was a real help. Do you have a person going with you? Also get up and walk! That's what she did and she was shopping (!!) in TJ by Friday (Surgery on Tuesday). Granted she wasn't fast, but she was out and about. She's down 10 since she got home. @@thick2thin I will keep you guys posted! I am going the insurance route so it's going to be slow going vs. going to TJ.
  7. Same height and weight (ish) and look forward to seeing the end result. Good luck to you!!!

    Hey everyone! New here!

Welcome, I just joined as well, but I am still waiting to meet with the WLS center. Just wanted to say Hi and good luck!!!
  9. @@smile121 Thanks. Maybe I'll touch base with the NUT that I saw in October... She was so nice and not judgmental at all... I am just waiting for my first appointment with the WLS center and then I can start, but I just feel like I need (must) do something to move things along "faster" than the current pace. I just am impatient and I know I am not the only one. Thanks!!!
  10. @Jovie21 Thank you. I will give them a call tomorrow and see what they say. Then should I call again the next day to confirm it? I don't want to piss people off and stuff.
  11. We'll I guess I saw her a few weeks ago, so I need to go see her again in a bit and have the "weight record" on her books done. This is stupid, especially when I was doing what she said.
  12. Do you think having her sign off on them would be enough?? I could go back and have her sign on the weight record around the dates when I was there, but I don't know. I saw a NUT in October to talk about what to do, then I saw my PCP in Jan where we talked diet pills. I just never really met with her just to talk my fatness. Besides I see my Neurologist more than I see her! Ugh, it's a mess. I just have to wait and hear what the surgeon's office says.

    Cigna Healthcare

I am waiting to hear back from my Dr office to see what the "official" statement is from Cigna. But I am hoping and praying that my 4 years (continuously) of weight watchers and seeing a dietitian in October will help speed that 3 months along. I think they will get back to me this week.

    Insurance question

My sister just went to Mexico and had the VSG done. Her insurance doesn't cover it at all-no matter what. Thankfully mine does. She had a very successful surgery last week, and has already lost 8 lb. I don't think I'd have the guts to go south to do it.

    OR - Portland

I am starting the process at OWLS with Dr. Emma Patterson. I am waiting to have scheduling contact me to start all the testing. I am in Tigard, and would like to be able to have a support group. Melissa

    Multiple sclerosis

I have MS as well, and I am working on starting all the evaluations. I haven't spoke with my Neuro yet, but I am sure he will be supportive. My family is worried that having surgery will cause a flare (RRMS as well) and I'll be in more "trouble" than just recovering from surgery. I hope both of you had successful surgeries.
