    Disney World!

Hi All, I will be having gastric bypass late August to early September per my surgeon.. I already have a Disney World vacation planned and paid for in November. So that should put me 9-10 weeks out from surgery.I would like to know if anyone else has gone that soon after their surgery? Also, were you able to ride the rides just fine? I LOVE rides/roller coasters and will be sad if I can't ride.. We did get the FREE dining plan and I know there is no way I could ever eat as much food as that plan offers, but oh well. lol If you have any tips for me that would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  3. 50 pounds down!! Yay!

    Disney World!

Hi All! So I got back from Vacation on the 14th and have been so busy that I forgot to update! Here's how my trip went... I did a ton of walking and had a super hard time getting enough Water. However, I did carry a bottle with me at all times and drank while waiting in lines. I wore my Garmin Vivosmart the entire time and in 7 days I walked a grand total of 45 miles!! I still can't believe I walked that much, my feet however did believe it. lol The food choices weren't as difficult as I thought they would be and Disney had a lot to offer that was healthy! Which made my life a lot easier!! I did cheat a little and have popcorn, but oh well. I'm not going to beat myself up over it. Since I walked so much, I had to make sure that I kept my Protein up. I could feel when I did not eat enough protein. So my advice is to bring Jerky with you in your bag. I was on the Disney Dining plan, which of course was WAY too much food, but it came with our package for free. Now, I will say if its you and your husband I would get a Dining plan for your husband because we were able to split every single meal and both had plenty of food. I think that would save money plus no one would be starving! I did not ask for the children's buffet's since I had the dining plan, but honestly I doubt they would let you. I had a super great time and slept like a rock every night! Oh and not to mention lost 10 pounds while on vacation! Not too shabby if I do say so myself! lol
  5. So, I am 12-13 days post op from RNY.... I have such a weird taste in my mouth?! It is driving me crazy.. It makes Water taste weird and just an overall bad taste in my mouth.. It appeared around day 7 after surgery and has yet to go away! I have brushed my tongue a ton to no avail. I would like to know if others are having the same problem as me or is it just me?
  6. Yes it is! It's horrible, but I'm going to quit complaining. I'll take all the bad taste for some weight loss! Lol
  7. I may only be 10 days post-op, but I'm loving my new stomach!

  8. I had the same exact problem for the first week! I thought I was going to go crazy sleeping on my back(I'm a belly sleeper). Now, I have found that I can sleep on my side *if* I barely put the edge of pillow under my stomach to kind of stop that pulling sensation.

    Going alone to hospital?

I just had my surgery on 9/24 and they asked me if I wanted my valuables locked up or handed to my husband.. so you can get your valuables locked up.

    Period?

Oh jeez that has to suck!! I haven't stopped either, but I figured it's because of the blood thinner they gave me in the hospital..

    Period?

I started my period the day before surgery... go figure! I have pcos and it comes randomly. Lol... anyway. I had some cravings before the surgery, but after the surgery I definitely did not..
  12. This is exactly my situation! I'm a belly sleeper and I'm having that same pain under the big incision on the right side. So annoying.. I'm only 5 days post op, and have just been trying to wait it out.

    Cravings - Pre versus Post

I'm only 5 days post op, but I haven't had any cravings yet. I'm sure they are to come though!
  14. It sucks! I'm so hungry and ill. I think my husband would stick me out on the lawn if he could. Lol. My doctors office has me on a max of 30 grams daily of liquid Protein and I'm just starving! I just needed to complain for a moment. Ugh... I only have 2 more days and then it's Surgery day!! Something to look forward to.
  15. On my way to the hospital to have surgery! I'm so nervous and excited!! See yall on the flip side!

    Today is Surgery Day!

Thank you all!! My surgery went well! This was first surgery ever and I was scared to death. The first day was rough but has gotten a lot better! Those gas pains are something serious.. lol

    In a time crunch

Yes.. my insurance required it. They denied my pre determination the first time and then approved it the second time.. I was approved on 9/15 and I have my surgery tomorrow (9/24).. It's pretty normal to have to get a pre determination if you have bcbs
  18. @@drmeow Yes, 30 grams of Protein a day. Crazy huh? lol. I was reading where everyone else can have multiple protein shakes a day and I'm over here like.. must be nice! haha But I'm doing okay, I have had my moments of weakness where I wanted a salad or something, but fought the temptation.

    What's after lab work

Hi! Sometimes it can take longer depending on what exactly you were being tested for and where you had your labs done. Like with my current hospital and doctor they can see my stuff immediately because the systems are integrated together. However, my previous doctors and hospital were not like that so it took a week or 2 to find out the results.
  21. I'm doing better now. I mean it's still tough, but I think my body has decided we just don't eat anymore. LOL The only times I get really hungry is at night and I think that is because I used to be a really big night time eater. TOMORROW is the big day and I'm super excited!
  22. Im having surgery Thursday and have planned to only take a week off. I'm having the RNY too, I think it will be doable but everyone is different. If you message me after a few days of surgery I could try to give you an idea as to how I'm doing so you can kind of gauge it.
  23. I can not believe it!!! After all of the problems I have had and now I finally got approved!!! Thank the Lord! My surgery is next Thursday 9/24!! I can't quit smiling!
  24. So I am a fast eater and honestly I haven't practiced eating slower prior to surgery. However, I am going to start this week and wanted to know if y'all had any helpful tricks/ideas that you do that helps? I know that putting the fork down in between bites is one, but it seems like I forget that really quick. What have y'all found that works the best for eating slower? I hate vomiting and want to avoid that at all costs, so eating slower is something I need to learn!
  25. My Surgery is the 24th and my surgeon told me if I had a fever or became sick to let him know. I believe they would reschedule you, because they don't want things to get infected, but don't quote me 100% on that. Hopefully you just don't feel well from the liquid diet or your nerves.
