    loose skin after 50

I am scared of the reported costs of plastic surgery. Any estimates you have been given? I read about someone spending up to 35K.

    Wrinkles

Yep, it is the "old lady" neck that bothers me the most. I am 80 lbs down, but haven't noticed a big increase in wrinkles, but thinking it might catch up with me soon.

    Surgery at 56?

    51. No problem.
  6. Oooh! It is great I found this thread. I have lost 80 lbs since my surgery in February. For the past few months (6?) I have been tender/achy in my left hip, and, infrequently, in my right. My husband said I was limping. I had a broken ankle about a decade ago, and this often caused a limp when I was tired. It really got uncomfortable after a week vacation with heavy walking. Finally spoke to the doctor about it. She took some x-rays of both of my hips and pelvis. THE VERY NEXT DAY, the nurse called me back to report that the doctor diagnosed SEVERE arthritis in both of my hips! I asked "Severe?" She said "Yes." I asked, aghast, "Both?" She repeated "Yes." Well holy shit! I have been walking around like a confused, scared Zombie, for the last week. I see the Orthopaedist on Thursday, so I will know more then. I am 52.

    Why the sleeve?

One of the main considerations I had, was NSAIDS (Advil, Ibupropen, Naprosen, aspirin, etc.) are not an option with Bypass. It is my understanding that bypass patients can never take these anti-inflamatory pain relief ever again. I was told that there are other meds that can be prescribed, but not over the counter. I thought about it, and remembered that I can occasionally get migraines, and worried that I might develop arthritis as I aged, especially since I have broken several bones. Well, luckily, I did choose the sleeve. I had my surgery in February of this year, and last week, after mild pain in one of my hips, I was diagnosed with SEVERE arthritis in BOTH of my hips. I am so thankful that I can take my Advil!

    TMI! Question

Somebody told me about Natural Calm, a powder magnesium supplement. It has really helped, and, believe me, I had pineapples! BTW, I started with one heaping teaspoonfull, forget the starting with 1/2. DO NOT let more than two days go by without addressing it!

    Smooth Move Tea

I just found out about Natural Calm magnesium supplement. It was recommended to me for constipation. After weeks and weeks and weeks of very uncomfortable, painful, and stressful constipation, I have found the holy grail! I use one heaping teaspoonful every other night, and I stay regular. If not, I up the dosage. Try it! I hope it works for you too!
  10. @Fiddleman: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! After weeks and weeks of really miserable constipation, I tried Natural Calm and it is gone! Normal, easy, and so less stressful/painful. I only use a heaping teaspoon every other night and it does the trick!

    CHOBANI FLIPS

I am not certain, but I believe that the flips have a reduced Protein amount. I disagree with CatLu86 regarding yogurt. There are many beneficial digestive enzymes in it. It is also high in protein. That being said, you do need to watch your dairy intake. I suspect that it contributed to my awful constipation issues. It is interesting to me that your caloric goal is 500 - 600 calories a day when you are (according to your signature column) more than 6 months out. Is this your goal for calories, or your nutritionist's? My surgery was 2/10/15, and my NUT has encouraged me to eat between 800 - 1000. You may be getting too few calories.

    193 forgot. No excuse ????
  14. @@AquariusDiva I, too, have some "saved" clothes. I am surprised that I am down 75 lbs and I still have clothes that previously fit, for I haven't been down to this weight for quite some time. It also surprises me that there was a time just three years ago that I was able to wear these. Must be the elastic! I, too, want to buy new clothes, but cannot afford to purchase. Thrift stores are my friend.

    Cream of wheat

Any suggestion on the non-flavored Protein, and doesn't this mess up when you cook it? Do you just stir it in after? I love maltomeal and cream of wheat, but am afraid of the carbs. @Mandyctr What brand of Oatmeal do you use?

    Anyone else aggravated?

Sometimes it annoys me, but most of the time, I am very sorry for them. They have gone through major surgery without a clue on how this will affect them and their future. Perhaps they don't have a good nutritionist, perhaps they didn't understand that this wasn't an "instant fix." In any case, I try not pick on them. They are clearly confused, and slapping them up side the head will simply not help.

    Ice cream ice cream!

Sounds good, but remember, bananas are binding. So, if you are suffering with any constipation issues, stay away from bananas. If you aren't, I am jealous!

    Hahaha Myfitnesspal

Shocking at first, laughable when you get it daily....
  19. Ugh! An ongoing issue for me. I never go any earlier than 3 days. Even then, I often need "encouragement." This is the third day on Miralax, and now 4 days out from last #2. Once you have one, do not wait too long. On the second or third day, reach for help from constipation meds. Impaction is TERRIBLY painful.
  20. Ugh. Awful feeling. For me, moving around helps. Weighing and measuring is a p.i.t.a, but keeps one on track. I have been good, and not so good about it. Especially hard when I am eating out. You can stick one of those small rubbermaid containers in your purse and take it out when needed. I also purchased a tiny, cheap scale at Target that I use at home, and can stash in a bag/purse when I go out.
  21. Yes. Overweight almost all of my life. I have had months here and there where I was "overweight" according to BMI, but mostly obese and morbidly obese. I have lost 72 lbs. I look in the mirror, and sometimes I don't recognize the person staring back at me. I am on a staycation now. If it wasn't for my sleeve (and MyFitnessPal!) I would be eating my way across LA. I am not hungry. I hope this lasts a long time. In any case, it works if you work it. Good Luck! We are here to cheer you on!

    Kids Say the Darnedest Things

Yeah, kids. You would think my 18 year old would have a bit of a filter. "Gee Mom, you are really looking good! Too bad about your ass." Me: "What is that supposed to mean?" Him: "Well, it is still pretty big..." I wanted to slap him upside of the head....
  23. Yes, I believe he was complimentary. But, at a work function, where the focus should be on business? I don't think so. I would be terribly uncomfortable as well.
  24. Wow! What an inspiration. I wish I could see that change in my husband. He really needs it!
