  1. Congrats on March 12, cloud 9. I was sleeved on Thursday, February 26th, in the morning. I knew not much of what happened that day. Used a bedpan in recovery and faded back to lala-land. Found out that I had a hernia that was repaired. Had no energy to even talk. Nice quiet room in the back of the ward until 2a when I was woken up because they needed to put someone with horrible infection away from people. I walked for about 30 minutes total and got comfy in my new room. Pain with meds was not bad, but as someone else here stated, the headache and the neck pain were a total drag. I was released around 3pm on Friday. I was actually glad to go home, my new room was across from the nurses station, too dang loud. Once home, I sacked out on the couch tried to sip sip sip and didn't get much in. Day 3 was better and I am a bit sore today but can definitely drink a couple ounces at a time. I do look like I was beat up, lovenox of shots. I did not have any drains or catheters left in after surgery. Day 4 and I'm definitely happy that I did this. Down 7 pounds already!
  2. I'm too excited. The few friends I told are as excited for me as I am. Met for the post-op diet question and answer period this afternoon. Learned a few new new things, cemented a lot of what I researched and found answers here. I gave the dietician this app/website so that she can tell the support groups. I'm really happy to have found such a fabulous community. Onward, upward...excelsior! Going to bed shortly, hope I can sleep ????????????
  3. This ought to be interesting...????
  4. 50 years old, 2/26 I get sleeved. Looked into it a few years ago and all the negatively from people turned me away. This time it's for ME!
  5. Your smile tells it all, you look Marvelous!!!!!!
  6. I'm excited for everyone going this week. Getting my sleeve Thursday, Feb 26th. I have to be at the hospital for 6am and the surgery is at 7:30a. Looking to hear thumbs up from you folks going tomorrow (today-Monday). I'll be saying calming and healing prayers for everyone.
  7. @@CowgirlJane I'm in MA, how has meetup been for you? I'll have to look into it for the spring. I went zip-lining for my 50th birthday. It was so flipping FUN! You should definitely do it!!!! There was a couple with us that where in their late 60's. They were a hoot!
  8. I love my jawbone up24. Can add me: ladyfyrfighter@gmail.com I just sent it out to @@Aribay1 and @@Wallflower7522 I'm getting sleeved next Thursday, February 26th and I'm very excited! It's time for me to get more involved with working out and letting others come along for the ride.????????
  9. @@Inner Surfer Girl, THATS where I bought my swim bra from -Woman Within! Love it, holds the girls up, and can wear it under any suit I have.
  10. I bought a great two piece and one piece swimsuit at Forever 21(plus), then picked up a swimsuit bra to go under the top. The nice is that they are cheap, cute and actually fit very well.I received so many compliments wearing the "bikini", I'm going to need new ones this year as I am getting sleeved next week. Looking forward to smaller cute summer clothes. Btw-I'm 50 and rocked that size 2x bikini!
  11. Me too @@WendieBryant! Mine is next next Thursday. The pre-op diet sucks! The good thing is that I had decided to give up sugar and junk for lent anyhow. No more people bugging me to eat stuff We'll do great! We put in the time, effort and did our homework. I'm more excited now than anything else...countdown.
  12. Received my date-February 26th! Going tomorrow for my pre-op appt, then next Wednesday for the post-op diet appointment. I went to Costco today and picked up Premier Protein shakes and gummy vitamins. Tomorrow after the pre-op, I'll get SF jello and SF puddings. I'm so excitd. It's been a long time coming.
  13. In the last six months, I have done, so far: 7 meetings with NUT, 4 meetings with surgeon, 5 Bariatric group meetings, physical, sleep test, full blood work-up, and an endoscopy this past Friday. Through going through all this, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, high fasting blood glucose, Vitamin D deficiency, and bacteria in my gut that would leave me prone to ulcers. Friday night that I was approved for VSG and my surgery date is February 26th, with pre-op on the 18th. I was annoyed with some aspects of process and felt that it was one step forward and two back at times. However, I am now even more confident that I made the right decision to go forth with this. I had considered myself fairly healthy, and found out-not so much. It is a blessing that I found out these things now, when I can reverse them, then to have waited longer.
  14. I'm being sleeved February 26th. I'm looking forward to: Going to China with my sister and mother at the end of April-being able to walk up and down the Great Wall, the Forbidden City and everywhere else for 15 glorious days. To fit into a pair of jeans that I saved from the last time I was 148 pounds-they are this white wash denim, and back in style-by the end of the year. Lmao! To wear a fabulous white Cache dress that I already bought for my Seven Sisters college graduations laurel parade in May. To get back out and date after 5 years of self-imposed exile. To FINALLY not be the "fat" one in my family. There are sooooo many more things I'm looking forward to. I have "let go" of so much baggage since beginning this journey. I look forward to continuing on this path as me, just a thinner version.
  15. I finally have my date-February 26th, pre-op the 18th. I started the pre-op diet this past Monday. I'm so excited! I have clothes in sizes 12-20w and look forward to "shopping" in my very vast closets (multiple places and styles-attic, cedar closet, spare room). Thanks to previous posters for letting me know about the tastebuds changing, I'm on an iPad and I can't see previous posts as I type this. Tried to remember : @@LENCHEN I forgot about PB2, I bought some and forgot about it. @@butterfly125 I've read so many times that the walking helps with the gas.
  16. @@UK Cathy, thanks for the chart. I'm 50 years old and 5'5". My surgeon hasn't given me a goal, but I have a personal goal for 30+ years of weighing 148. It's the weight I was able to get down to once in my late teens and for a very short time when I was 24 (was working out like a fiend for work). My surgery is set for February 26th and I'm excited to keep losing weight.
  17. I'm so excited, my surgery is scheduled for February 26th. Now that I have my date, the pre-op diet is not bothering me as much. I wish I could say I following it 100%, but I'm not. I am very aware of keeping up my protein, water and lowering fat and carbs.

  19. I hadn't thought of taking pictures each week. This is such an exciting journey!
  20. I'm so excited for the people who have their dates coming up soon! ???????? I went to see my surgeon yesterday, all the paperwork is in order and they sent it to the insurance company. Because I'm planning on traveling abroad in 10 weeks, I have to start the pre-op diet on Monday. My surgeon wants 8weeks between. I'm soooooo excited. I'll be more excited to get a definitive date!
  21. @leximustang YUP, I feel very much like you do. I deactivated my Facebook account today.for one thing, I'm single and just have no desire for all the Valentine crap. The other is that FB has been a mind and time suck. I want to continue this journey for the next month without it and work on having real "living" relationships. This morning I texted a friend who is like a baby sister to me about talking to another friend about surgery. She commented the "I hope you're not thinking of it, you don't need it". I wasn't upset because In her defense, she was one that had disastrous life-threatening results with the LapBand (quack surgeon who on another friend of hers nicked her spleen plus other stuff) She now over 300 pounds and is too afraid to try the sleeve. After a long conversation, I told her that I hope her bearing witness to my journey will encourage her to at least think about it. I have really liked watching the video logs on You Tube of this young women name Cluesee (sp) she is hilarious, one of them is titled "After WLS you become a Jerk!" In reference to how folks that wouldn't previously give you the time of day are all sweet and kind and bothersome-esp store clerks!
  22. There is a study on the recidivism-weight gain of participants on the show. I read it while I was doing research. One of the points made was that the contestants do 90 minutes of cardio a day with "suggested" times of up to 3 hours more. They are not fed a certain diet, and can choose what they eat. Before weigh-ins, many are dehydrated, etc. (like my WW weigh ins for sure;-( ) once off the ranch, they try to keep to these same measures to win. I don't know anyone who has an outside life of family, kids, dogs, jobs etc, who has time to work out 4 1/2 HOURS a day. Not to mention, it is near impossible to keep up. I used to watch the show and loved it, until I realized that like many of us, they lost all that weight to regain much of it. I do have my guilty pleasure of my 600 pound life...
  23. As of today, my BMI is 35.6-I will not tell my parents or siblings. Yes, 50 year old woman who does not want to hear it from her 70+ parents, I don't want to the backlash from others either. A young man (30's) I've known since he was an obese teenager lost 110 pounds over the last 6 months with the sleeve. I went to say hello to him on Facebook and he had deactivated his account. Reason-negative people saying crap like he "took the easy way out." I have been on numerous diets and exercise plans. The last prolonged one before now was 2011, I started at lent-no refined foods, no HFCS, no sugar, no take-out. I worked out and went from 219# to 187. I felt good, looked good. It's been over a decade before then that I was below 200#. This weight loss lasted LESS THAN a month. The weight came back-on...and on...and on. When I started the WLS journey in August 2014, I was 232#. Heavier than when I gave birth to twins! I am 5'5" and 214# today. My daughter asked me what I will tell my parents next month when I am not eating cake at my granddaughters 1st birthday. For me, the timing is PERFECT, if all goes well this week with my 6month visit, I will start my pre-op diet along with lent. I planned on going no sugar, no processed foods anyways. It's interesting that folks will try to ply you with food and that a NO sometimes is not enough. But, if you say it's a religious reason, noooooo problem. Why is that?
  24. Wow, mine for Health New England is 6 months. Have gastro appt on Thursday, hopinG to get clearance. My 6 month doctors follow-up was rescheduled to Friday from Monday due to the snow.
  25. @@JustWatchMe the website is ObesityCoverage.com. I liked that as it is here, there are real stories with the good, bad and ugly- truth.
