  1. Oh yea - I went on a splurge like I wasn't going to be able to eat any of those foods again in my life. The doctor wants you to lose as much weight as possible because it makes placing the band much easier, and when it comes to surgery you want everything to be as easy as possible - right? It's to your benefit that you get your mind in the right frame now and start dieting. As I've found out after surgery and recovery, you can still eat chocolate and Cookies and ice cream and nearly everything you used to eat. The band is a tool only - much like a constant diet pill - but you can still blow it. Get yourself thinking now about making food changes for life. Good luck.

  2. have you been checked for slippage? If you were throwing up everything, I would get that checked out. I haven't been back for a check

Assuming you are not slipped, when was your last fill? How much weight have you lost since then? I've lost 20 lbs since the fill but I haven't had a fill since October, and that was only .2 cc giving me a total of 1cc. The last fill made me so touchy I didn't want to get another.

You may experience a day or two where you feel wide open, and then a return to your normal restriction. How long have you felt wide open? A few weeks now.

Try chugging some ice Water before you eat to help tighten things up and hopefully slow the passage of food somewhat, if you don't need another fill. I'll give it a try.

    Thanks

  3. Why, all the sudden, can I eat like I did before the band? It seemed to happen overnight. I went through a period where everything was thrown up, then I could eat soft things, and now I can eat anything and everything! My problem has never really been hunger - it's all about snacking, and I am so afraid that I have stretched out my pouch with too much food. Do I need a fill? Would that even help? Maybe I need a therapist. :faint: :help:

  4. Okay okay okay... Now I'm scared everybody! I'm going in for my first appointment to get the ball rolling and set up an appointment to get banded. No weight loss? Are you kidding me? Can I get some responses on "average" weight loss the first month?See - everybody is different... I lost about 12 lbs

What is the average calorie intake the first few months following the proceedure?

That's where I differ from what is written. I had a very hard time getting in 600 calories a day for the first 6 weeks, and after that I was lucky to get in 800.

How long do I have to wait before I can get back on the eliptical 7 do other cardio?

Wouldn't know. I still haven't started working out.

How long did everyone wait to go back to work? Most of what I do is at a desk... some occational lifting. Not much though and nothing over say 20 pounds.

I waited 2 weeks because I could, not because I had to. I was probably ready after a week.

What's the worst part of the first few days post-op? I've had two operations on my knees, (ACL) -- OMG! It can't be worse than that can it? Can you get up and walk around?

Had no problem getting up and around within hours.

  5. My second day out I was crying to my husband, saying, "what did I do to myself?" Sorry to say it didn't go away any time soon, but it DID go away! We know it's hard and we're here for you. For us you aren't whining - you're just expressing your feelings. Hope you feel better soon.

  6. I've just finished 4 pieces of bacon and a danish. Can I start over too? I really, really want to be thin, but I'm afraid as long as I have a mental image of myself as fat I will never reach my goal. I was recently told that our goal should be not a number but a mental image of ourselves at our goal. It's really hard to do. Supposedly if you can't picture yourself thin, your subconscious will sabotage you and that is why you are constantly reverting to fat foods.

  7. I thought I would be doing better too - 9 weeks and only 28 lbs down. It's kind of depressing since the last time I lost lots of weight I was down 30 lbs in 4 weeks and didn't have nearly as much to lose. Oh well - I keep on working. You gals (and guys) are an inspiration to me so I keep reading and looking at your before/after pictures. Too bad we don't live closer... I need a walking buddy.

  8. You've got to think of the carbonation in the soda. Have you ever opened a bottle of soda and stuck a balloon on top and watched the balloon fill up from the gas? The same thing would happen with your pouch and it would stretch out. Having said that, I know several people banded in my group that still drink Diet Coke. Personally, I've gone cold turkey.

  9. I got banded on Tuesday, 9/13. I was hungry right from the beginning and ate 4 Jello cups at the hospital that night. I haven't taken any pain meds because it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm starving all the time though. I've eaten my weight in broth and jello. I'm trying hard not to cheat because I feel I can eat anything. I've lost 9.5 pounds in pre and post weight.

Anyway - we've all started on a journey together and should be proud of ourselves for having the guts to do something as drastic as this. Love to you all!
