  1. Do you hate the chewables? There is a brand BariMelt that is quite good tasting (like sweet tarts sort of - not as good of course). It is sold on Amazon or even on the Bariatric Pal store (though they are out sometimes).
  2. Have you tried any other foods? Salads can be tough to digest and fill you up without giving any Protein. You need to concentrate on protein first. Some suggestions would be thinly sliced turkey deli meat, tuna salad , chicken salad, soft cheeses, baked fish, etc. At 7 weeks you should be able to tolerate these type of foods. If not, you might want to visit with your surgical team. Give us some ideas of what you have tried and what has or has not worked and maybe we can give you some more suggestions. Share Your Father-Friendly Recipes!

I LOVE and have cooked for my dad before - Peppercorn Pre-Seasoned Pork Tenderloin. He is a meat and potato guy though so I will probably make some sort of potato (that I will likely avoid) and then a salad. . (My recent favorite is tomato, cucumber, green olive and goat cheese but he won't eat that either....) I think for another side I will make cheese stuffed jalapenos (reduced fat blue cheese and 1/3 fat cream cheese makes a great filling which I also love in roasted mushrooms!)

    Liquid diet ideas?

BTW, maybe one of our nurses will weigh in, but I think you aren't supposed to have anything red (or blue I think) the day before.... I drank Isopure Coconut Protein Water (was not very good admittedly but it didn't have red or blue in it which I was instructed to avoid) and had a LOT of chicken broth and just a lot of water and tea (unsweet).

What made you get a tat?

I have always said I would get one if I had something really important I wanted to say but could never come up with anything. I have been thinking about it a lot lately and really LOVE the ones mentioned here showing starting weight. What a great idea! Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

    Not losing

First you have likely come in to the very common 3 week stall. Just stick with the program and stay off the scale for a week. Second your NUT should NOT be giving you goals like that. I never lost more than 10 to 15 pounds per month and at one year post-op, I am down 120 pounds from surgery day. It adds up. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

Doing Something for the First Time

I wore a bikini yesterday for the first time in my life - in my backyard / alone / for my eyes only (anyone else would have runaway screaming "My eyes! My Eyes!!".) I strongly resemble a shar pei right now, but it sure was nice having to wait for that huge skirted swimsuit I have worn in the past to dry before I came in the house!
  10. @@KristenLe - I understand your concerns and as I said to each his own, but my RNY only took an hour and I do not appear to have any malabsorption issues. To me, the removal of the majority of the stomach where you can never get it back is what scared me. RNY can actually be reversed (i.e. intestines rerouted). I understand why each person has their own concerns, but I just don't agree that sleeve causes "less trauma" to the body.
  11. I don't really understand why people feel sleeve is less trauma when you are actually removing 80% of your stomach? What has your surgeon advised? I wanted sleeve initially until surgeon suggested RNY was a better option for me. I did the research and settled on RNY and am very happy I did. In the end, only you and your surgeon can decide. 12. You definitely need to log your food. You will be surprised how off you can be "eye-balling" portions. If you don't like the app you are using, try My Fitness Pal or Livestrong/MyDailyPlate. As @InnerSurferGirl asked, what are you eating? How many carbs, Protein, etc? Are you taking Vitamins? Without more info, we aren't able to make a lot of suggestions. Extreme Weight Loss

I would agree that it doesn't sound like enough food. And/or it may be a stricture. Can you add a Protein shake per day? That might help with the energy. Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

    Extreme Weight Loss

You have lost 100 pounds in 2 months?! I would say that is extreme. I am surprised your doctor isn't a little concerned. Did nothing show up in the GI scan and bloodwork? If not, maybe it is all good. For the nausea, I would ask for a prescription. I took Zofran off and on for 6 months. Having said that, are you able to hold food down? I found at 3 months that I had a stricture (scar tissue grown around the exit of stoma so food couldn't go through). They did a balloon dilation through EGD and I felt better immediately (though the nausea did hang around). Do you happen to be on any blood pressure or diabetes meds that need to be adjusted? If you are not satisfied with a response from your surgeon, I would see your PCP and see if they can offer any suggestions. Also give us an idea of what you are eating. That might help us give some suggestions.

    Super hot weather advice

I live in Texas and every year I think I will not survive it and yet I live to face another summer! Water - drink it, swim in it, etc. Every place has A/C so enjoy that but if you aren't used to it, you might bring a light sweater. Some people (foreigners we like to call them ????) get cold when they move from the heat to A/C so much. Enjoy! It is a great place to be. Unless you are going to Houston. Miserable place if you ask me ???? Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

  18. Just keep doing what you are doing. The 3 week stall is completely normal. Nearly everyone goes through it. It will drop pretty rapidly after the stall is over. Many off them will come along the way. Follow your plan and stay off the scale for the week.

    Vitamins after Surgery

Try BariMelt brand which is sold on Amazon or in the Bariatric Pal store. They are chewable and relatively inexpensive. I have had excellent bloodwork all along and I am 1 year out.
  20. No idea how people get there that early without shakes. I am 1 year post-op and still drink 1 every day.

    I am approved!

    Congrats!!
  22. How much B12 do you take every day? My viewable multi has 500mcg and I take a supplemental 1000mcg sublingual 4 times a week. My B12 is high though (almost 1300). My papers and NUT all said 1000mcg per day (I came down to 4 times per week because my last test was too high). My surgeon says it is only 1000mcg per WEEK not per DAY. But she also said there is no danger in having too much as you just pee it out (expensive pee ????). Yes I know this is a question for my NUT and/or surgeon but just curious of others experience / advice Sent from my HTC One M9 using the BariatricPal App

  24. I am at goal but really as small as I want to be. Trying to figure out how to increase my calories to get it to stop. (It stopped for 6 weeks and then all of a sudden I have dropped 7 more pounds in the last 2 weeks!) @@VSGAnn2014 - Thank you so much for this list of tips. It is very helpful! Do you track your food? If so, just curious about your macronutrient breakdown. (Mostly trying to figure out how many carbs or maybe what % of total calories is carbs. Those are the things I still keep fairly low but not sure I can increase calories without increasing this as I am already getting 100-125g of Protein so I can't increase there.)
