  1. Ha!! Here's hoping you never personally experience the answer to this question! :) Basically, when you eat too much/too fast/the wrong thing, you overproduce saliva. It has nowhere to go so you end up spitting it out. But you probably won't spit it ALL out, so you'll swallow some, which will overfill your sleeve and lead to you "blorping" (sort of vomiting, but more like a burp that raged out of control) up jellyfish-blobs of thickened saliva. Fun times! And very sexy. *winking*

Oh gosh I have done that a few times before! I didn't know what to call it! I did it when I put pineapple in my smoothie and the first time I try ground beef and cauliflower. When that happens it's like my stomach telling me it's not quite ready for it.

If that's sliming, how do you know when you are dumping?

  2. I would be sad if I could not wine taste again too. I'll have to admit that was a fear from my surgery. I guess I will have to make wine more of a special occasion maybe go to seasonal wine tasting events. and you know what, I am okay with that.

I've made the choice for a healthier lifestyle and moderation is key :) thank you all for your comments on this thread it's been very helpful!

Tomorrow I start week 5 post op. Down 28lbs!!!

  3. I gained 2 pounds ????! I am having so much trouble with the protein! I have tried so many flavors and unflavored. I just want to throw up every time. I barely eat anything, and I drink all my fluids. I need to work on meal plans but I don't know where to start. Every time I call my nut she is never in. I am feeling down, and thinking maybe the sleeve is not working on me ????

If you like coffee I've found adding sugar free carnation instant Breakfast French vanilla to folgers vanilla biscotti coffee goes down really nice.

I use unflavored nectar Protein when I cook. Add it to your creamy Soups or eggs. You can't taste anything and it gives you 10grams per scoop.

    I hope that helps

  4. Well guys and gals I tested the waters last night, 4 weeks post op.

My drink was vodka and cranberry. I poured half a shot, lots of ice, and cranberry. It took me an hour to drink it and it got me nice and mellow. I was a little scared to try it but curiosity was killing me. I wasn't insanely drunk, just a nice little buzz.

I might try it again if I'm at a special occasion. However, I didn't find the drink as exciting as I used to. It was okay, nothing to brag about.

I'm actually more of a Jameson and ginger beer kind of gal. But I'm staying away from the fizzy stuff.

I'll give ya an update when I try some tasty wine (if I still find it tasty)

  5. Thanks y'all! My highest weight was 273 and now I'm 165! I had surgery on May 15, 2013.

Lylabelle- congrats on your surgery! You'll do great!

Here's a before an after pic so you see my pre op!

You are the exact same weight I was when I had my surgery last month! Your picks are inspiration! I hope I have as much success as you and can wear a bikini with confidence too. :) you look great!

  6. The first month after WLS I mourned food soooooo badly that I took to going on Pinterest for food "porn", i.e., obsessive viewing of the foods I can no longer eat. Some examples are: jelly doughnuts (omg), fried chicken, King's Hawaiian sweet rolls recipes, pound cake, hoagies, Philly Cheesesteaks, macaroni and Gravy and Coney-Island style dogs (I am from the Great NE.) ugh It was torture.

Now, not so much. If I even eat a bite of a sliver of a piece of candy my pouch curses my existence for the rest of the day. Lol

And now that I am detoxed, I don't even want that crap anymore. It doesn't satisfy and I love not being a slave to food anymore.

Thanks for sharing this. This is exactly what I needed to hear
