    Eco Drink

My surgeon told me not to even bother because they don't have nearly the %s that the Multivitamins I should be taking do. They're good though, I was thinking of getting them just for liquid's sake but seemed kind of pricey just to drink it as a regular drink.

    Insure Nutrition

I was contacted by them on Monday saying I was approved and that they would be faxing RX documents to my surgeon and that my premier protein would also be covered. They didn't say how many and they also said my copay would be waived due to a special they were running this month. We'll see if anything shows up.

I can't wait to get back to the gym. I hate not being able to workout the way I used to. I was making such awesome progress.

    Finally got to eat....

@@laurenjane If at all possible, remove food from your house LOL. I dunno if you live alone or not, but that was the easiest way for me to get through it. I gave all my perishable food to my mom and put everything else away in the freezer and the canned stuff in the high shelf cabinet. Also, stay really busy. At times where you would normally be eating, go run an errand or go for a walk. The first few days are going to suck. Your energy will crash and you might be mildly cranky, but just keep thinking about why you're doing it. Also, if you have been buying Protein in variety, stop. Your taste buds are going to change after surgery. About 3 or 4 of the flavors I was loving pre-op i absolutely cannot STAND post op. sugar free Jello and popsicles are your very best friends. Stock up! Enjoy your last week of food (not too much) and feel free to contact me if you have other questions or if you just wanna bitch it out LOL. It is difficult but once you get used to it, it really isn't too terrible and it goes by fairly quickly.
  5. @@brightlife0305 Well a few days prior I had made it around a Target store with no problem. I think we just picked a bad day for costco, it was a lot more crowded than usual. Lesson learned.

@@flygirl022812 Your surgeon should detail a lot of that information for you. I just had my surgery a little over a week ago and one thing I quickly learned was that my taste buds have shifted. The protein drinks I was having pre-op are tasting very very different to me post op. A lot of them I don't enjoy anymore and now I kind of have to start the tasting process all over again. As far as vitamins, I have a mix of vitamins from Celebrate and from Bariatric Advantage.
  7. If your surgeon gave you an eating plan, I would say stick to that. I'm in my Week 2 post op and trying foods from a limited list. Eggs and refried beans were on there so that's what I had for my first food. Her advice says yogurt goes down best but I learned today that that's not true for me. If it went down well then it's probably ok but double check with your surgeon.

    1 week post-op Blues

GIRL. I struggled with this exact same nonsense a couple of days ago. Crying all over myself and wallowing. Apparently, It's totally normal. My doctor had a really sensible explanation for it. Your body is burning fat and releasing stored hormones. Weight loss surgery causes a major shift in emotions. I cried over a Facebook video today. And it wasn't even anything sad. It was a bunch of puppies. I have a thread somewhere in this forum where Alex and several others gave a ton of really good advice for this. I hope you start feeling better soon. This too shall pass ❤️

    April bypass buddies.

Still struggling to get all my liquids and protein in, mostly because of changing tastes. Dr says this is due to ketosis and should level out soon. I discovered Unjury chicken soup protein today. What a godsend. Had my first post op visit and my dr says everything looks fantastic and I'm healing well. All the crap I've been enduring is totally normal including my terribly mood swings LOL she said the first month or two is the hardest and pretty soon I'll be looking back on it and laughing. I hope she's right.

    First dumping syndrome UGH!

I think I had it this morning. I drank one of my premier Protein shakes without diluting it, and I finished the last 1/3 of it much faster than I intended to cuz I was nursing it for over an hour and it was starting to warm. About 3 minutes after the last swallow my heart started to increase and I felt warm, kinda like when I get nervous or anxious. Then I had diarrhea about 3 times. Realized the only way to feel better was to lay down. I slept for about half an hour and felt much better. I didn't expect it to happen from a Protein shake, especially one with only 1g of sugar. So I'm guessing it was because I drank too fast and my stomach just wasn't ready.

    Post-op Blues

It is all good hon, if you ever need to talk or get out of the house, let me know. Also I have been going to the Sharp meetings if you want to come. Actually going to the nutrition meeting tonight. Glad you are healing well, I am feeling okay physically myself, just get worn out easy. Same. I pushed the cart around costco on Saturday and immediately fell asleep in the car on the way home. I sent you a message earlier, I'd be down to visit one of the sharp meetings. My surgeon has her support group only once a month and most of the attendees are in a different demographic than me. I'm always open to meet WLS people closer to my age even if it's a different surgery. The walk is roughly the same. Thanks

    Post-op Blues

Yes! I absolutely remember you! I hope everything's going well. My physical recovery has been pretty good but mentally I've been pretty miserable. I'm hoping to shake it off soon. My mom is super worried about me, my boyfriend is probably tired of me LOL I'm just ready to feel "back to normal" and I'm hoping it doesn't take too much longer. Thanks Alex. I'm definitely wallowing. I guess it just bugs me most because I'm soooo not the wallowing type. I'm such a happy and bubbly person and over the last few weeks I feel like I've lost that and I'm eager to get it back. I don't like feeling like I traded my happiness for weight loss. I know that's a temporary feeling, in the long run I'll have both my health in check and hopefully my emotions back. Thanks everyone for your kind words and input. I just have to keep trucking along and find my happy place and find it without relying on food. My doctor's program is really strict for the first three months or so. Her patients tend to be very successful and I know that's why. I wanna be a success story too.

    Things they don't tell you

2-5 were told to me. #1 I have learned on my own at home. Fortunately I have my own bathroom and lots and lots of candles.
  14. You just had major surgery on your stomach. Where all food, medicines, and liquids pass through. Keep telling yourself this. Your insides are inflamed. I'm having the same issues. Yesterday and today I had no appetite, couldn't muster up the will to take down my liquids. I just had to keep telling myself that I signed on for this change and this yucky recovery period is necessary for me to reap the benefits of it. If your dr gave you anti-nausea or pain meds, take them. If they didn't and your nausea doesn't improve, call them.

    Surgery mon.????

Well you'll be laying down mostly lol I have an incision right at my bra line. So until today I wasn't able to wear a bra. If I had to go out I wore a sports bra and tucked it so it wouldn't rub against the incision.
  16. I'm 5 days post op. I'm not in much pain but I am exhausted and having a hard time getting my liquids in. Apparently it gets easier. Your new stomach is inflamed from the surgery and just needs to heal. Today was especially difficult for me. I went to Costco with my mom (mistake) and pushed the cart around. It was crowded and there were samples everywhere, which made me so angry that I couldn't have any lol. It was crowded which irritated me further. By the time we got to the car, I was ready to check out. I went home and took a nap. Felt like slipping into a black hole.

    Surgery mon.????

During surgery you take everything off and wear a gown and maybe socks. No bra, no underwear. I haven't worn a bra since I took mine off to have surgery on Monday. There's an incision right at my bra line that I don't want to irritate.
  18. I'm in a wedding in two weeks. I ordered my bridesmaid dress about a month ago and couldn't close it when it arrived. I tried it on tonight (4 days post op) and it fits but I actually have a little room in it.

    Disney World

Most of the Disney parks allow you to bring food and drink also. I'm going to Disneyland about 5 weeks post op as well. We're staying at a residence inn (comforts of home hotel) and I'll be able to bring my own foods just in case I can't manage to find something in the park that's ok to eat. You can research online what all the different eateries in the parks offer. Good luck and have fun! Went to Disney World about 3 years ago and it was incredible.

    Last Supper

Stay busy. Clear food from your home if possible. I live with my boyfriend and he committed to the liquid only stage with me. We sent all our perishable food to my moms house and kept only approved food for our diet in the house everything else went into the freezer. If there's nothing available that you're not supposed to eat, then you can't it eat it. On my lunch breaks at work I ran errands. At easter while everyone was eating i hid the eggs for the kids to hunt after dinner.

    3 days post-op

Same. I'm annoyed that I can't be more active but I have to remind myself I just had major surgery 4 days ago LOL. I have slight discomfort but nothing terrible. Mostly gas. Have only had to take my anti nausea meds once.

    Bypass process

I can't speak for everyone but from the date of my consultation to the date of my surgery was less than 90 days. I met my doctor on 1/16/15, did my labs and psych eval within a week of that. Did my nutritionist consultation a few weeks later. Had a follow up visit a month later. Another follow up visit a month after than. They submitted my insurance approval after my February visit and it was approved within a day. I had two pre op appointments, one at the hospital where my surgery would be held, and then one with my surgeon. I had surgery on 4/6/15 and came home on 4/8/15

    April bypass buddies.

My doctor had me fill all my scrips before surgery so they would be ready for me to come home. I have antacid to prevent ulcers, anti nausea meds and pain meds to be taken as needed.

    Starting liquid diet

My pre op liquid diet was water, protein, zero calorie drinks, herbal teas, broths, sugar free Popsicles and jello only. Boiled eggs aren't liquid. I wouldn't eat them. Ask your surgeon for clarification. Your friend probably isn't a doctor.
  25. I was prescribed what's basically Pepcid AC to take twice a day for a month to prevent ulcers.
