  1. My hope for posting this, is that someone will share what works for them (diet wise). I need the guidance of how many calories should I be consuming (I am 273lb after going up the few pounds). I want suggestions on portions, suggestions on times I should be eating, etc. it sounds so crazy, just want to make sure I'm doing everything the right way, this makes me so nervous

  2. Surgery was 1/9/15, I'm not certain if I have stalled and reached a plateau with my weight, or if my diet has been poor...? I'm noticing I've been eating slightly more carbs, my provider has not specified a certain number of calories per day I should be consuming. I'm very fearful after stepping on the scale and seeing guys gone up 2.5lb... I also feel that as of lately I can eat more, this too makes me nervous. I will be looking for healthy alternatives this week to get back on the wagon

  3. Ok all! I have officially started and added Biotin to my Vitamin regimen (not sure if I'm happy just yet)! I jumped immediately to 5000mcg per RN, and we shall see! I'm probably about 1/3 loss of volume and thinking my long locks may need to be chopped short to look healthy again.

I will wait to add Nioxin, only because I would like too see if I notice any change, will keep everyone updated with my personal experience. I may not take it if it's not showing me any signs. Thank you to everyone who shared, I am grateful that I'm not in this alone!

  4. My surgery was 1/9 and I too am stalled. I have lost a total of 37 lb, could have been more but I had a post op GI bleed and they put 20lb Fluid on me. I have started the gym this past week and do not have the release but have been doing 5lb weights ( ok to lift up to 5 lb, why not?!) also started TRYING to jog. I hit a 17 minute mile. I would have never tried before! I'm finding my body reacting the most to the jogging and my body changes and strengthening to these activities. I also found a gym offering TRX and wi go forward with that in the near future, I'm gonna push back and win this fight!

  5. I'm thinning and noticing many strays as I comb my hair after shower or when I go to gym and adjust my pony tail. It's becoming visible in certain pictures as well...

My cousin had thyroid issues and thinning with her hair, Biotin has not worked for either of us. She is finding some relief with this Shampoo called hair food, I however have not. Just curious if anyone else had suggestions..?

  6. I was concerned about weight gain with the depo (slightly concerned about reaction as well)... I did hear the same thing about the pill and would not like to take the chance finding out. LOL

I was advised against the iud because I do not have any kids and issues with placement when you do not have children. I am concerned about putting more hormones into my body as well as side effects. I have thought about the nexplanon implant, but no long term studies, which makes me nervous too. I had a weird dream that it grew out of my arm and I ended up with cancer, dramatic yes!! My cousin also had the implant and ended up with thyroid issues, another friend bled out and became anemic with the implant, everyone is different, but nothing I want to go through!

I'm kind of at a stand still with what form to use. The obvious of abstinence and condoms, but I want to make absolute sure and double up. So much to consider!!

  7. Thank you so much! I will start with those and see how I like them... I can have a few bites of bread, after that I feel bloated and my belly is heavy. pancakes initiated "dumping syndrome" but did not vomit, only sweaty, nausea, heart racing. I find that same feeling accompanies anything overly sweet as well. My biggest want is just healthy recipes, I'm looking online for a cook book of some sort to guide me.

  8. I am struggling with relearning how to eat. I find myself fumbling with recipes or resorting back to purée or liquid diet to avoid "making a mistake" with food. My other issue is that prior to surgery, I was a Pasta LOVER!! Well, sad news... Pasta goes down fine post op and I am afraid I will fall back into carb city.

I am wondering if I can have everyone reading this to post a healthy recipe, something you really love or something that mimics food (in a healthy way) of bad choices we were eating prior to surgery. I would love to keep these recipes on hand to start a little post op "cook book"

    Thanks!
