  1. Up until this point I have been very happy with my progress. However, at times I feel like i'm losing too much too fast. I have currently hit my goal weight of 165 lbs.(i'm actually 164 lbs.) and before hitting it, I thought of changing it to 145 lbs. I looked at myself in the mirror this morning and didn't recognize the reflection that was looking back at me, because I hadn't taken the time to really really look at myself before today. Anyone else going through this?

  2. Update: I went for a consultation this week and learned that Sibley holds monthly support group meetings for sleeve and bypass patients. They are encouraging me to attend the next one before my surgery at the end of February.
Check it out. Im in southern Maryland. I have to find our what is near me. My surgery is Monday, the 21st. I should check on support now.

  3. I met with my surgeon today and discussed the Vitamin Patch. He does have concerns overall about their absorption. However, since I had the sleeve he explained that absorption issues are not really an issue as with a patient who has had gastric bypass. Plus he said that the patch should be better than nothing (which is where I am right now). He will run blood work in three months to check. He also said at that point if my labs come back good that he will put me on a good prenatal Vitamin and that should be all I'll need moving forward.
So I'm going to try the patch and ordering it today.
I am trying Patch MD. However, last night I noticed the zinc and selenium were low. One of my doctor suggestions is NutraMetrix. It is a liquid you take one a day and I add an Iron and Biotin patch.

  4. Has anyone tried vitamin patches? What has your experience been?
I'm having a hard time taking my supplements as they make me sick to my stomach...I just heard about the Patches and am considering trying those. I would love to hear anyone with experience with the Patches.< br> Thanks!

  5. I went to the Nut. today and she said that the surgeon doesn't have people with a BMI below 43 on a preop diet. She said they are not concerned re. an enlarged liver for lower BMIs.
    I was surprised by that.
I am thinking I may not cut down calories but I will try to be low sugar at least a few days before surgery to shrink the liver a bit.

SimoneMonet- How did work go today?

I had my pre-op appt with my surgeon this morning! I am so excited!!! 20 days!
I will only have the liquid diet for 24 hours before...THANK GOD.

He had sent me to the other side of the office building to get my pre-op EKG taken care of and low and behold, it was also all my hospital admissions stuff. I did all my paperwork, insurance stuff, etc which was a nice surprise.
So now all I have to do is wait for the phone call the day before of what time I am to arrive and then when I get there, I go straight up to the surgical ward.

I had my pre-op yesterday (1/8/19). I actually had 5 appointments. 1) pre-op (surgery is 1/21/19), 2) heart sonogram with cardiologist, 3) blood work, 4) dietitian, and 5) stress test wit the cardiologist. I was surprised to learn I do not have to do clears for 2 week pre-op. My sheet says either 4 Protein Shakes a day or low calorie, low carbohydrate dies of no more than 50-60 carbs per day. No snack type foods, sweets, or starches (bread, rice, Pasta, potatoes, corn, peas, Cereal, crackers, etc.)

I am having a revision from sleeve to bypass.
