  1. Hey everyone! It's been a long time since I been on here. I went back to my lap band dr. Yesterday cause I gained weight recently due to new medications I'm on for anxiety and depression. I haven't had a fill in almost 2 years cause my weight was staying the same. He gave me a fill yesterday and I don't feel hungry at all which is great but...I keep burping when I drink Water and I was waking up coughing last night. I am able to swallow my meds but my stomach feels weird and my back feels weird too like they are both hurting a little. Can my band be too tight? Any help will be appreciated thanks.

  2. Neither have I' date=' nor have I heard anyone not having some problem with the band at some point. I never had a stuck episode, no vomiting, etc, etc I have just led my life as normal, went for fills and jokingly always said if it wasn't for the fact I can feel the port, I think I didn't have a band. So I am very angry that this has happened because I love my band and really not looking forward to two more surgeries.[/quote']

My band had slipped as well and i had no symptoms at all as well! I got rebanded march 1st cause my other band had a leak in it so when my Dr. Did my surgery he said the leak was around the ballon of the band and also that my band had slipped a little. I wouldve never known!

  3. Hi everyone tomorrow is gonna be 3weeks post op for me and my 2nd day on solids. Tomorrow i have an appt with my Dr. I wanted to know if anyone has ever gotten a fill 3 wks post op? I feel i am doing ok. I feel sorta satisfied with a cup of foods. I dont think i should get 1 cause maybe it will be too soon cause it is gonna be my 2nd day on solids.. If anyone can give me any input i would apreciate it. ThAnks!

  4. Well I have had some ice cream. The first thing I did after a clear liquid diet for 10 days I went and got a milkshake which I didn't even drink half of it. Being as how I'm kind of a veteran (had a band since July 09) I can listen to my band really well...my band was not restricted bc it slipped for the past 6 mos so I have been doin what I want (I maintained my weight) then I got gastritis and dropped 15-20 lbs got really sick and had to have Surgery so this is new to me all over again! Anyway I have been eating puréed avacados' date=' mashed potatoes, apple sauce, SF pudding, and Protein shakes...I feel as though I could eat other thing but I don't want to push it! Anyway, this has been the most challenging thing for me! I have lost a total over about 70 lbs. I'm 248 and strive to be under 200, I'm also 6' tall...I have plateaued now at this weight for a while. I only lost about 7 lbs on the liquid diet!! Anyway sorry for my rant just so much to share and no one else understands! Including my fiancé![/quote']

Its ok. I feel the same way! My fiance doesnt even understand either. Only this site understands what i am going through. Its hard

  5. Hi everyone! Today i just started solids and when i ate lunch after about 10minutes of chewing my food well i kept burping...is that a bad thing? I burped like 4 times in a row. Is burping like a sign of feeling satisfied? I didnt finish my whole lunch but ate most of it. I hope its normal the burping. Tomorrow i have an appt to see my Dr. But i doubt he will fill me since tomorrow will only be my 2nd day on solids. Also did anyone ever get filled after 3weeks post op?!?? If anyone can give me your input i would really appreciate it. Thanks :)

  6. Hey guys! I'm 10 days post op! Yesterday was the first day I wasn't on a clear liquids diet. I find myself to not be very hungry. I know I'm not getting the calories I need...therefore' date=' I'm not losing weight! Plus being as how my doctor fixed my slipped lapband he said I may never feel "full again" when I do it I don't really get full it's just nothing really taste good! Such a weird thing! This is the 2nd complication I have had (3rd surgery!) I'm unbelievably frustrated![/quote']

HI! I got rebanded March 1st and i just started solids today. I am very frustrated as well! I only lost 4lbs since my surgery! And maybe it is cause of the calorie intake. We are not eating enough calories. I am going to see my Dr. Tomorrow cause it is really frustrating! I been the same weight for almost 2wks! :(. That is a weird thing that nothing taste good to you. What have you been eating?? I hope things get better for you :)

  7. I was banded on 2/28 and I lost 20 lbs in the first 2 weeks. For the past week I have not lost another lb. Did anyone else have this problem? I know that the first 6 weeks are for healing' date=' but I would have thought that I wouldn't have plateaued this soon. I haven't had a fill yet, that is coming up this Wednesday. I am just getting a little worried that I am going to be one of the ones the band doesn't work for. I log everything on MFP and am eating around 600-1000 calories a day, mostly around 700. I am making good food choices also. Anyone got any advice on how you got over the hump? Is it just that I need a fill? I am getting discouraged. Maybe I need to eat more Protein. How much protein is everyone getting daily? Any advice would be great.[/quote']

Hey! I just posted somethin like this yesterday. I am going through the same thing! I got rebanded march 1st and i only lost 4lbs since my surgery! I am only taking in too about 600-700 calories a day so I just don't get it! Its fustrating and upsetting! I guess our body just needs to heal. I am going to my dr. This friday. I dont think he will fill me cause that will only be my 2nd day on liquids. But i am definitly going to ask him if its normal to only lose so little after surgery

  8. It is clearly normal for you. You are still healing my friend' date=' so don't expect a lot at first. The goal is slow and steady. It is not a race. Follow your diet and the pounds will come off.[/quote']

Thanks. I just keep reading on here that everyone lost so much weight on their post op diet and i feel like what am i doing wrong? I didn't get my 1st fill yet so i am trying to stick with just a cup.

  9. Hey everyone I got rebanded march 1st and since my surgery...i only lost 4 lbs! Is this normal? I been on mushy foods since last monday and I am taking in only about 600 calories a day! I don't understand! Why am I not losing weight!? I am really upset about all of this! I thought from being on liquids and mushy foods would make me lose weight how i did on my preop diet! I lost 10lbs on my preop diet. Its just confusing to me. Did everyone go through what i am going through? Is this normal?

  10. I was banded on January 14th so I'm pretty new to the process. Gosh, I was so nervous to do this. I worried about being sick, not being able to eat, not being able to socialize...blah blah blah. So far, things are going better than I could have hoped and I'm eating out same as before....I just eat considerably less. I went out with some friends last night as a matter of fact. I had a wonderful evening and have at least one or maybe two more meals sitting in my fridge thanks to the doggie bag. Are you here in the city or the 'burbs? I'm in the city and have a separate thread with some other city gals. I agree that we should have our own support group....I think we already do on this site...we just need to do it face to face.

I live in Queens, NY. Where in the city do you live? That would be great if we would be able to do it face to face. We would have to plan it and where would we have it? Are you able to eat more than 1 cup?

  11. Hi Karen:

I used Dr. Ren. A friend of mine used her and was happy with her so I figured I'd see her as well. She's not real warm and fuzzy but she is good with any questions I have and I actually like her directness and no nonsense demeanor. I've never met Schwack or Kurrian. I met Fielding at the seminar. Sorry to hear about the friends...so far I've not had those issues, but firstly, I'm in my 50's and that makes a difference. Most of my friends are very understanding as we all are a bit beat up by life at this point...plus I have arthritis and had the surgery to help me to lose weight so my knees would be better. It has nothing to do with looking better...though that will be a nice side effect.

Thanks about the friends thing. I hope your arthritis gets better. I am mainly doing it for my health. I wanna be healthy not just for me but for my son. :) Dr. Schwack is amazing! Dr. Kurian is some piece of work! She did my 1st surgery in 2007 and I just got rebanded march 1st with Dr. Schwack. I would never let Dr. Kurian touch me ever again! I never met Dr. ren or Dr. fielding. When did you have your surgery?

  12. Hi Dani:

FYI' date=' I was in the office today for a regular follow up visit and saw a notice than said no 0-12 month post op support group this month. So...no group next Wednesday I'm presuming. I'm not sure why..and didn't think to ask, I'm guessing there will be a meeting in April, but not sure. I go for another office visit on the 12th so if I remember, I'll check to see if the support group is on for April.[/quote']

Hey yeah I saw it last friday when i went for my post op appointment. I was upset because i have been going through a lot with friends and all not understanding. I hope they don't cancel the april one! Which dr. Do u see?

  13. I lost a friend during my surgery journey. Haven't spoken to her in 9 months. Never once did she call to see how my surgery went or anything. I've tried numerous times to contact her and nothing. She is on the heavy side and the three of us friends one who had had gastric bypass is skinny now and then I decided to have lap band so maybe she felt left out idk but she doesn't speak to me anymore. We had been friends for 20 yrs.

Sorry to hear that! and especially since you were friends for over 20 yrs! it is hard. I have other friends and they are very supportive but these 2 friends of mine, i've know since 9th grade for over 14yrs so It is just very hurtful on how they are treating me. I haven't spoken to them since saturday and everytime when there is an argument, they say that I always try and make it seem like its all about me which isn't true. I guess they are just not true friends after all :(

  14. sometimes people just dont have manners and sometimes people just have a clue (to what they do) in regards to how it makes us feel......i deal with that each and every day..i cant say it will get easier, but your head seems to be in the game and that is all you need to worry/focus on, you...do what works for you...if they dont wanna hang out, come hang out with us on this forum...we cant control other people, we can only control how it affect us.

Thanks :D I am glad they have a site like this
