  1. I had the lap band surgery. Then they removed the lp band and did a sleeve. I've been having pain in my left quadrant for about a year now. This whole process has been very irritating for me. They did a bunch of tests and they say that the pain might be not very bad and I would have to just deal with it. It seems screwed up to me because I don't think I should be feeling any pain.. all they did was make my stomach smaller. They said it may be in my colon or in my gallbladder. This is a frustrating subject for me.

Unfortunately many male doctors discount pain reported by their female patients. I hope that's not the case with you but if so you may want to consult another physician.

no im not a female. that's screwed up that you say that.. this sounds confusing. this doesn't feel like it has anything to do with depression because it is physical pain. any other advice? screwed up.

  3. i went to a doctor yesterday about my pain in the abdomen on the left side. he said basically its mostly psychological and it is caused by anxiety. when i get up in the morning that pain is there and runs into my back and pelvis area. he said that is the main reason why im getting this pain. im not exactly sure if what he is saying is correct.

  4. I have lower left quadrant pain. It radiates into my back it feels like a pinched nerve. I spoke to two different doctors and one of them told me it is gallstones. I dunno how the gallstones could have a factor in this. I'm not sure what to do. The pain is like a cramping pain. Anyone have any thoughts or comments? This is really stressful for me.

  5. hi everyone. i just have a question about the gallbladder and gall stones. when the doctors looked around my stomach area , they found some gall stones. there were a lot of them apparently. i'm still in pain.. and the pain goes into my back and into my pelvic muscles/bone. im not sure if removing the gallbladder is the right idea. if i get it removed and i still have pain i would be very disappointment. any thoughts or words of encouragement out there?

  6. I got the lap band converted to the gastric sleeve about 3 months ago. I've said this on the forum before. I get a pain or cramping that leads to the spine. I've went to the hospital or ER and they told me it may be an abscess.. It really is there and I don't think im supposed to feel this sort of thing. Its like a cramping connected to my back. Anyone ever heard of this? I'm seeing the doctor early next week. I really hope they can give me some answers. It may be because of my depression, but this is an actual cramping and pain. I hope I can get some help here.

  7. It probably is on the side. It feels like someone stitched something in correctly. The pain feels somewhat like tension or muscle tension in the abdominal. I'm going to have this checked out. I am not a doctor and I dunno what it might be. They said something about it being tension on the abdominal wall where the port of the lap band used to be. However, this has been going on for a long time.

  8. Yeah you see on this board many people just don't read what I post and that is screwed up. You said it "if you are in pain then there is something wrong". I am probably going to the ER near me to get it checked out. I have insurance so it shouldn't be a bad idea. I got the revision about 8 weeks ago. It could be from caffeine and coffee but I don't think that can do that to me. It feels like I pulled a muscle in my abdominal.

  9. I had the lap band to sleeve revision surgery. Ever since I had the first surgery I've been experiencing a compression and cramping pain in the middle of my abdominal. If I sit on a chair it will get worse within the hour. The thing is I contacted my lap band doctor and he told me that there was nothing wrong. They did an upper GI and apparently there was nothing wrong with it. I have a feeling it has something to do with my abdominal muscle because I can feel it in my back sometimes also. I dunno what to do now because he didn't find anything and I may go get this checked out. I really don't think it is just my imagination because this doesn't feel normal.

  10. I have a few questions about the sleeve surgery. I got the surgery about a month ago and I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

A: When can I start eating normal things again? How much Protein should I take in? Is there any range of weeks or months that it will take to fully heal?

B: I keep getting pain in the stomach area that is intermittent. It's terrible and it feels like cramping. It is around the stomach then extends into the spine. I have no idea what this may be. What should I do about this? Is this common and what might this be?

  11. I just had my post op appointment. The reason why I had to get the sleeve was a decision made by the surgeon. Before when I had the surgery it was a plication with a lap band. Then he revised it to the sleeve surgery. When the surgeon before the surgery did it he messed it up. It wasn't done correctly. So basically this surgeon revised it and the best bet was to make it a sleeve. I am losing a lot of weight now but it is getting too much. I am losing too much weight on this.

  12. I just had the lap band to sleeve surgery about 2 weeks ago this Wednesday. I have a few questions if anyone could answer them:

    1. What are some of the differences between the lap band and the sleeve? Any different eating habits or do you feel full easier?

    2. How long do you think that I can start eating regular food again? I've been using full liquids for about 2 weeks now.

    3. I actually had some things that I thought were full liquids but weren't. I had a bad feeling after eating them. What will happen if I had a small amount of mashed potatoes or a mushed up meal like that? Will I get sick?

Anyone who can answer any of my questions thank you in advance.

  13. I am getting the lap band with the plication undone in about a week. They had me go for testing and everything came back okay. The doctor said he is going to undo everything because there was something called a prolapse or a dilation of the pouch. Anyone know what I would expect when this is undone? I had really bad stomach pain but I did lose a ton of weight. Just some questions: Will my hunger come back? Will I have any type of restriction still? The doctor said he is going to fix everything because I don't believe I needed the surgery completely anyway.

  14. I had the banded plication surgery approximately 3 years ago. Apparently there was a bulge in the upper part of the stomach where they sewed up the stomach. The stiches weren't stitched and half of the plication was there. Would this explain why I have bad food choices and a difference in my diet? I am going to get it undone. Would anyone know what my options are as far as re-banding in the future or fixing this surgery?

  15. I go to a doctor on long island. The problem with me is that it wasn't not successful it is just the lap band intolerance or my bodies reaction to have the lap band in place. Ive been taking some Tylenol but it doesn't seem to be working. The doctor said he wanted an upper GI small bowel series done, but I would have to wait a week to get that done. I was going to go the local hospital to get it out because it really stinks. If I get it removed or whatever I know I'm going to gain weight but Idc its not worth it for me. I know I stated this before but anyone have any advice or similar experiences? How long was the hospital stay to get this done?
