Has there ever been an issue to where people have chronic back pain issues after the sleeve?
I had a gastric lap band to sleeve revision about 10 years out. I've had back spasms in my back. It is in my back and in my upper leg and thigh area.
Can you get the gastric sleeve be revised to other procedures? Can you get it revised to a gastric bypass? Can you get it revised back to its old way or to a duodenal stitch?
Anyone heard of anything like this? Any ideas? Do you think a revision would stop the pain?

7 hours ago, Arabesque said:Meant to add there are long nerves that run from your lower back & your herniation maybe causing referred pain. Have you had a scan of your back recently to check for deterioration or nerves being affected.
It’s unlikely to be from your sleeve this far out from your surgery. Plus you said your doctor couldn’t find a medical cause related to your tummy.
I had mri and ct, they found herniated discs. The paim gets worse as the day goes on.

I had Gastric Sleeve surgery nearly 5 years ago. The sleeve was a conversion from a plication to a gastric sleeve. The doctor told me there wasnt anything surgically wrong with the stomach but I have crazy muscle spasms when I sit down that are really painfull. I take some pain medicine but it does nothing. Is this due to the GS or back pain? They found some herniated discs. If I get a gastric sleeve converted to a bypass would the pain be more or less? Any thoughts?

I had Gastric sleeve for about 5 years. I was wondering if the pouch can be fixed to the point that it can go back to its original stomach size (as in being reversed) or being revised to a different procedure? Like Gastric Bypass, Mini Gastric Bypass, etc.
Anyone know this info?

I had the band to sleeve 4 years ago.

I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of unexplained pain with gastric sleeve surgery. Could this be due to herniated or bulging discs or some sort of fracture? Anyone ever hear any info about this?

I had gastric sleeve surgery about 4 years ago. I was wondering if anyone had back pain with the sleeve. Would this pain be due to the gastric sleeve pouch or disc herniations? They did an MRI and found some bulging discs. The back pain is very bad. Does anyone have any knowledge of this?

Has anyone heard of gastric sleeve spasm of the lower back? I had two herniated discs and have lower back pain, could the pain be due to the gastric sleeve?

I had gastric sleeve surgery in 2016. I had an mri of my lower back, which showed 2 disc bulges. Could this be the reason for my back pain? Does the back pain have anything to do with the gastric sleeve?

I had gastric sleeve surgery about 3years ago. Since then I have been having boughts of back pain in my lower back. They did MRIS and found two disc issue in the lower lumbar disc. I had some pain (cortisone) injections but still have this pain. Could this be due to the gastric sleeve as it was a revision or a disc bulge issue?

I was wondering if the gastric sleeve surgery causes back pain. I have a lot of back pain and they found two herniated discs, can give an explanation on this? Is this pain common?

I had Gastric sleeve surgery since about 3 years ago. I also have recurrent abdominal and back pain. I've been having this pain for years now. They did some testing and MRI's and found disc herniations. But don't those go away on their own? Has anyone here had any experience with lower back pain with the sleeve? Any thoughts? Ideas?

I had gastric sleeve surgery about 2 years ago. Since then, I've had some spine disc damage and herniation. Does anyone have any information on why someone would have such bad pain this late into the gastric sleeve? Could the disc herniation be the reason for the pain? What about coffee or caffeine (....) intake? I've tried many remedies and some, if not all do not work.

I had gastric sleeve surgery about 2 years ago. I have spasms in my lower back and the sleeve. When I get stressed out, the spasms get worse and they cause really bad pain. They also found an MRI with two disc bulges in the back. I was wondering if anyone on this forum has heard of Somatic symptom disorder. Like a psychological pain that causes these spasms. I also had radio frequency ablation and wish to know if anyone could offer advice.

I know I've posted this many times before but,
I have ongoing pain in my back and my gastric sleeve. I had a lap band to gastric sleeve surgery. The pain is chronic and it causes some type of cramping. It can be very painful and is worse when I have to sit down. I also had MRI's done and found one herniated disk in my lumbar spine. Has anyone ever heard of this pain before? They said I should get Xrays done but I'm afraid of more tests. I was on muscle relaxers and ibuprofen but they don't really seem to do much.

Yeah, I have terrible stomach cramping and muscular skeletal pain to this day. I got some shots for the pain but it is still there. I had MRIS and Xray-s done and I don't even know what the pain is from.. Does anyone out there have heard of this type of back and gastrointestinal pain?

Re: The pain is painful when I sit down. It "clicks" and hurts when I sit in a seated position and can be very painful. It cramps and spasms in the back. What can I do about this pain? Has anyone in this forum ever heard of this? It feels like the pouch or the spine cramps up.. I had x-rays, mris, etc.

Here is some info I've got together..
I had lap band to gastric sleeve surgery in 2015. I feel a lot of muscular skeletal pain in my back and side. The pain is very painful and feels like a cramping. I took some OTC pain relievers and they don't seem to work effectively. I am asking anyone out there in the world as to what is causing this pain. It feels neurological and as I know, your not supposed to be in pain with this surgery. I really regret having the surgery and any help would be appreciated.
Anyone have any outside opinion in some other state or country? I had the Lap band --- Sleeve revision and found two disc bulges from an MRI.

I had a banded plication turned into a gastric sleeve. Since then I've been experiencing at times spasm and pain in my back on my left side. I had imaging, spinal fusion and some epidural injections but nothing seems to really get rid of this pain. Was wondering if anyone has ever heard or experienced this and what can be done about this.
