    A New Day

You get some real food tomorrow!!! I am still in clear liquid stage but go right to purees next Tuesday. I am hungry and cant wait to have a bite of egg or cottage cheese. I really didn't expect to feel so very hungry in this first week after surgery. I am handling it well though and I feel proud of myself already

I am still on clear liquids! But I move straight to puree next Tuesday... I love the unjury chix broth, breaks u the monotony of the shakes (good as they are). I am also having sf popsicles, warm decaf tea and sf Jello. I SLEPT like a baby my first night home and also pretty good last night, got NO sleep in the hospital.

I feel great! my liquids are going down easier and easier already, I can do about 2 ounces per 10 minutes now so Im very happy! I do feel very hungry which I guess I didn't expect Hoping that eases once I get to purees next week, still on Clear Liquids.
  6. I wish someone had told me that the leak test was no big deal AT ALL, I was so afraid of it (that swallowing the relatively large amount of liquid all at once would hurt or make me sick) it was about 3/4 of an ounce and went down just fine.and was actually quite pleasant because I hadn't even had an ice chip in something like 27 hours. Huge yes to the chap stick, heating pad, extension cord and phone charger, earbuds, a notepad, a favorite pillow from home, I also brought a small personal fan because I am always hot, that is going away quickly since surgery but I did use it the first two days and it felt lovely..

    Post op thirst

No gum! but you will be able to brush your teeth & swish water, it wasn't pleasant but it is over quickly. Maybe you will be one of the lucky ones who can have ice chips after surgery!

No weight loss 5 days posts op

They say we can gain from all the iv fluids. What do you think you could be doing wrong at this stage? Just come as close to meeting your Fluid and Protein goals as you can, that's really all we can do right now huggs

    South Jersey area sleeve buddies

@@Elizabethe Glickel you are going to do great! Its not a picnic in the park but it just wasn't THAT bad either, very manageable. There are some great nurses there, Robert and Jill are RN's and the sweetest one ever is Nurse Assistant Dayse (reminds me of Salma Hyack). I had a BIG fear of being able to tolerate my liquids and so far it has been good. Just start off SLOW and build up.

Thanks, hang in there!! I had my surgery at Southern Ocean Medical Center in Manahawkin, NJ.
  11. I also did this with a nice beef stew and I made a very mild chili and froze about 28 cubes of that as well.
  12. This is by no means MY idea but I am hoping it is one that will work out for me once I get to puree and mushies. So I am freezing some chopped up chicken in gravy, green Beans, mashed potato and mashed rutabaga in little ice cube trays. Hoping they will pop out intact once frozen and I can put them into ziplock bags for grabbing one at a time as needed. If they pop out well I may do this with some other things before I start pre op diet in 1 week. I want to have no excuses and as little worry as possible in the first few weeks/months.

    Too easy ?

I had my consult the first week of Jan, was told what I had to do a far as clearance (psyche, 2 NUT classes, cardio & pulmonary testing and an endoscopy) We picked a surgery date that day & I got crackin on getting the appts & tests scheduled. I will be sleeved Tuesday morning, so the whole process was less than 8 weeks. I feel VERY lucky that it was so easy.
  16. I am looking at my NUT plan from week 8 on, and it says 1000-1200 calories per day. That seems way high to me.

Good luck to all of you tomorrow!!! Huggggs & prayers :-)

    Quest bars!

PBJ, Lemon, vanilla almond, banana nut ETA oh and the apple pie, mmmm
  19. Were you given a timeline of when you could move to full liquids, purees, soft foods and then "normal" diet? If so when were you cleared for the normal diet? I also received very thorough "sample" diets for each stage including a list of food that generally are not tolerated at each stage. If you received this paperwork I would recommend taking another look at it and if you didn't receive it I would call the NUT and get some advise!! Best of luck to you!

    Nervous! Surgery 2/23

I am the day after you, I TOTALY understand. I am trying to visualize a positive, comfortable outcome and think of all the things I have to look forward to. I am browsing clothes in smaller sizes on ebay, shopping for a new scale today, hitting the drugstore for Biotine mouth spray and a few other things. Best of luck to you, its going to be great!

Review I did not want to read

He just sounds like a humble man to me, without the inflated ego that some surgeons may have. That comment wouldn't bother me if it came from my surgeon, but YOU have to feel comfortable.

    Feb 23rd surgery date

I am the 24th. I have all my protein (Unjury, very good) broths, decaf crystal lights, sugar free jello & ice pops, my bariatric chewable vitamins, a food journal & a fit bit, to name a few things :-)
