  1. Yeah I have gone through a ton of emotional states post surgery. I have been dealing with some slight depression, but I am attributing a lot of this to either some weird Vitamin issues that my doctors haven't quite found out, or an allergic reaction to being under anesthesia. After a EKG, MRI and neurological testing everything has been coming back negative.
  2. It very weird how one doc says don't eat this or that for this period of time, but another would say can. Good luck to you on figuring out what to do.
  3. I love that quote by the way. Totally going to use it.
  4. You will get there in time. At our around the 6 month mark, when you are allowed to eat red meat and pork again, you should be getting closer to your daily intake of Protein. I'm almost a year post op and I still do whey shakes no less that 3 times per week. But I'm also doing a ton of cardio to counter balance my calories in vs calories burned.
  5. Why would you do two scoops of whey Protein? And I am sure if you sub out the Fairlife milk with a lactose free or soy based milk you could save on the calories and carbs. And are you seriously only getting in 800 calories in a day? That seem awfully low for an adult to consume. According to this even an inactive female at your current height and weight should be doing around 1900 calories per day. http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/nutrition-and-healthy-eating/in-depth/calorie-calculator/itt-20084939

    Spanx for men?

I have been using both Under Armor and Reebok compression tops (short/no sleeves) and bottoms (compression pants to the ankles) for about a good month now. My leg muscles don't feel bad at all after doing long term cardio like I would normally feel without the compression gear on. It also tucks in some of the unwanted flab and makes clothing feel a bit looser than without it. So far I enjoy wearing them and probably will always wear them from here on out.

    SEX

About two weeks after surgery. Once I was able to pull the medicine pump out of the tummy I was okay enough to do the deed. Went a bit slow for that first month too cause I didn't want to cause any issues with the staples.

Anybody using the unflavored protein powder?

I too also use ISOPure unflavored whey protein. I tend to use that when I am going with fruit smoothies where I use juice instead of soy milk, and frozen fruits. It gives a bit of volume to the smoothie that I normally would get with the milk. I prefer it over the flavored stuff cause sometimes the flavoring in those whey protein mixes can be too much for me taste wise. I have a friend that uses and swears by the UNJURY stuff, but I can't really find that locally like I did the ISOPure. I think I paid around $60-$70 for a 3lbs container of the unflavored stuff. Well worth the money to me in my book. http://www.theisopurecompany.com/product/isopurewpi.html
  9. I too would also recommend the PB2 with chocolate whey protein as a PB cup cravings substitute as well. I know when I was about 4/5 months post op I was having some strong Reese's cravings and the PB2 helped to carb the hell out of those cravings big time. I still use PB2 in some of my protein mixes. But again as with the normal and sugar free Reese's have to watch consuming it around the allergic girlfriend.
  10. I eat both the normal Reese PB cups and the diabetic sugar free Reese PB cups. I usually eat them as a snack and limit myself to only a few (less than 4) per week. It also helps that my girlfriend has a nut allergy so that kinda helps keep my cravings in check when everytime I eat one I have to go brush my teeth before she'll let me near her. As long as you learn proper moderation and don't over do it slipping back into old unhealthy habits I don't see why you can't have one or two every now and then. But I would totally recommend looking for the healthy options first before going full blown Reese. The sugar free Reese are as good as the regular ones. here are the nutrition macros on them. https://www.thehersheycompany.com/brands/sugar-free/reeses-peanut-butter-cup-miniatures.aspx
  11. You look absolutely amazing.
  12. I would say a good 90 days post surgery for me I felt less tired and more energy. Give yourself some time to heal and follow, follow, follow your doctor's plans to avoid any and all post surgery complications. If I could go back I would have definitely did 1 or two things differently to avoid all the issues I've had post surgery. Other than that everything else has been great. I'm still losing anywhere from 3 to 8lbs per week and I'm almost 9 months post surgery.

    Whoa! Classification change

Congrats. I too was at super obese. I think I'm in the morbidly range slowly but surely getting out of that range as well.
  15. Before the surgery (These pictures were taking about 5 to 6 years ago when I was really close to my heaviest weight) After the surgery (These pictures were taking tonight. I'm about 8 and 1/2 months post surgery. I'm down about 16 inches from the waist time a year ago.) Edit: Just realized the picture where I am in the green shirt and jeans, well the after surgery pictures I am in those same jeans that I was in the before pictures. You can totally see how I don't fit them anymore.

Good luck to you on your upcoming surgery.
  19. Yeah I would totally avoid the rice for now. My doc doesn't want me ever eating it again. I'm about 8-9 months out and I think I had maybe two table spoons of rice a few weeks ago when I went out to a friends birthday dinner. I made sure to chew it up really good but also didn't want to over do it either. To substitute rice, whenever I had cravings for it, I would do quinoa instead. Its better in that it won't get all doughy like inside of your tummy like rice and bread does. Another benefit of quinoa over rice is that it has protein in it and can count towards your protein goals for the day.

Bloated and gassy after 4 weeks postop

You may want to reach out to your surgeon on dietitian for some advice. I know when I was having sever issues with gas and bloating after surgery, and stupidly trying to eat salads on 4 weeks post op, I was suffering from server gas and bloating pains. I wound up taking Gas-X along with some Papaya enzyme supplements to help get my digestive system back on track. In addition to those I also started taking a probiotic gummies too. Those things along with Fiber has pretty much kept me gas and bloating free for the past 5 months. Papaya Enzyme Supplements: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Spring-Valley-Papaya-Enzyme-Digestive-Health-Dietary-Supplement-180-Ct/10324935 Probiotic Gummies:http://www.walmart.com/ip/Digestive-Advantage-Probiotic-Gummies-Dietary-Supplement-80-count/28830944 Fiber: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Metamucil-Sugar-Free-Orange-Smooth-Daily-Fiber-Supplement-Powder-15-oz/39073425 Now I'm only taking the Papaya (daily) and the Fiber (ever other morning) and I haven't had issues with gas or bloating.

    Stairs

I believe it was about 2 weeks post surgery before I got the okay to go up and down stairs. They wanted to make sure my incisions wouldn't tear. Since then I make it a point to go up the stairs unless I am running late for a meeting and need to take the elevator to save time.

    Rash

When I was a few weeks past post op I had gotten a sever rash as well. After talking to both my primary dr and surgeon, they felt it was cause by Vitamin deficiency. I wound up getting on some super small prescription multi Vitamins, along with changing out my body wash from an anti-bacterial wash to a shea butter body wash. I've been using this brand for the past 7 months and haven't had issue with my skin at all.http://www.amazon.com/Simply-Right-Moisturizing-Body-Butter/dp/B00J7YN82C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1439846005&sr=8-1&keywords=simply+right+body+wash I also started using this twice a day and it helped with keeping the rashes and extra dry skin away.http://www.walmart.com/ip/Palmer-s-Cocoa-Butter-Formula-Lightly-Scented-Fast-Absorbing-With-Vitamin-E-Moisturizing-Body-Oil-8.5-fl-oz/10794535 Now I don't break out in rashes any more and the Palmer's helped with reducing the size of my incision scars too. I would highly recommend those two products above in dealing with itchy irritated skin post surgery. And make sure you are getting your vitamins in as well.
