  5. What a horrible let down! I think I would have been too upset to even get out of bed today! We're here for you if you need to talk/vent/scream. Let us know about a rescheduled time. Steph
  6. Is this Joy? I've been told to call you. So far so good. I'll be happy when I can do everything I used to be able to. It's been hard not holding my baby....but I'm going down a pants size so there are trade offs I guess. Steph
  7. It DOES get better. I remember thinking "What in the world have I done?" but that passes and everything starts looking brighter. There are still days that I move wrong and get a twinge but for the most part there are very few side effects still holding me back on day 14. I still dont stretch up a lot or turn really quick....but I can sleep the whole night through without ouching everytime I move. During the day my students are not noticing anything odd anymore. My co-workers say I look much more rested and healed lately. Just give it a few more days. It will be a blessing soon instead of a curse. Steph
  8. You are all so kind. Now I feel like a big old %$#$% myself. You are right though, I should give my sister the benefit of the doubt. She's much older than me and was for a lot of my life the one who picked on my the most. I guess there is still that hostility. I will take what she says in a different light. Thank you all for putting it in perspective for me. I really did need that. I'm looking forward to going home again. I will have a chat with them all and it will be good for them to learn about it. I think sometimes my family still sees me as the "baby" of the past and not the adult that I am. I wonder if they think this was a spur of the moment decision and not one that haunted me for years. Again, thanks for all the words of wisdom. I'll go home happier and more relaxed now. I don't think I'll blender the prime rib dinner though....that's just a nasty thought. The pumpkin dessert though....I wrote that down! It just sounds AWESOME! Steph
  9. I'm just wondering if he's around. The last post I saw he wasn't doing very well. I may have missed one but I was worrying about him. If anyone has heard from him, or if he stops by, I want to see how he's doing with the shoulder pain. It must be bad when you look at the sleeves the guy has. If he can endure that and says the bad may have to come out..... Steph
  10. We'll be thinking of you UltraGeek! Let us know when you are feeling up to it. we'll see you in a few hours on the other side of the band. Good Luck!!! Steph
  11. I'm out here. Not sure anyone else is because it's been a long time since the last post. Banded on 12/6 in North Dakota. I live in Plentywood so ND is closer than anything else. Everything is new and still in the newbie stages. I just wanted to say I'm out her. Steph
  12. All Heart, Every time I got hungry and wanted something during the clear liquid time I made myself drink a bottle of Water. After that, I told myself that after banding you can't eat for a half hour after drinking so I had to wait. After I set my mind there time just seemed to fly. My nerves kept me from thinking too much about it too. I was too excited/nervous/jumpy/terrified to think much about eating. Try to stay busy and away from the smell of food. Smell is so hard. Good luck and we'll be waiting for you on the other side of the band. Steph
  13. When my little girl had the flu and was getting dehydrated the doc prescribed some suppositories (I know, no one wants to go there) that stopped it RIGHT NOW! When I asked my coordinator about vomiting she said to have the doc prescribe the same for me. Your PCP can do that. No need to go into office she said. I'd call so you don't have to be sick AND worry. One is bad enough without the other. Feel better soon. Steph
  14. From QVC I LOVE their citiknits brand. I wore them when I started pregnant at size 18 all the way through pregnancy and now when I'm a size 22. Same 2x. I think their large would probably work for me from 1x down to just about med. I do have a problem since I'm short that I have to get their petites, but if you have to get dress clothes for work and want them to transition with you, I think it could be a good deal. And they are AWESOME about returns. Steph
  15. I know that I can have a little of all those things. But there are other HEALTHY options I can have that would make more sense to eat. I'm not saying I won't have some pumpkin pie, but all she talked about was the fattening stuff. I can't have soda so hot chocolate was her replacement? Tea works well. I can't have prime rib so how about some pie? Au jus mixed with some mashed potatoes would be a better choice I think. Since you can't have the healthy yummy stuff, we'll make more pie options so you can have variety. It just seems like the healthy idea I'm going for flies right past her. I explained Soup and mashed and pureed and yogurt, and such and she says "oh great, sugary bad for you stuff." When her daughter was told by the Air Force that she couldn't gain any weight in the next 6 mos or she would have too high of a BMI for basic training, she went and bought all kinds of veggies and looked for low-fat, high-taste, low-carb, high excitement options. She told me about all kinds of great recipies she picked out for HER. She gets it for HER! She talked about replacing high cal Desserts with delish fruit options for HER. For me, candied yams, pie, and hot chocolate. I'll get over it. I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening. I'll not kill her. My skinny me will be all the justification I need. And despite her, I'll have a Merry Christmas!!! Steph
  16. Jalee, If you HADN'T licked your fingers there would have been something wrong with you! Be proud you didn't eat the cake! Just sitting there staring at the danged thing would have sent me over the edge. I remember when I was on pre-op and made my son a pbj. I couldn't stand it and licked the knife. When my DH said something in jest I said, "Well I didn't put a tablespoon's worth on it first. That's GOT to count for something." hehehe You restrained yourself and only had a lick. Would that have been you a month ago?? Be proud of the accomplishment. I would be. Steph
  17. Sometimes I get SOOO frustrated with my family. First they didn't agree with what I am doing. My mom was super supportive of my decision even though she did agree. My sister said she thought it was stupid and other choice phrases and my brother said, "Why don't you just run?" (to which I had some choice phrases) So....I am going home for Christmas and as a show of good will I bought a beautiful prime rib for Christmas dinner. I will be on mushies but will eat around what everyone else is. If it is just some Jello and au jus so be it. My sister calls last night and asks me, "Can you have jello." I tell her I love it and plan on making some SF lime with cottage cheese in it. Next comes "Can you have pumpkin pie?" "I CAN but probably won't," I tell her. "What about lemon meringue?" "Again, probably not." "Hot chocolate with whip cream?" "do you understand what a diet is?" I ask. "Oh, that's right, so stuff more like candied yams?" ....it continued but you get the picture. How do you stay nice about that???? I honestly am thinking maybe I shouldn't go. I finished the conversation telling her that I would blend whatever I could, that I would be drinking Water and protien drinks mostly, and that they shouldn't worry about what I can and can't have. I wanted to jump through the phone and strangle her though. She's overweight. She knows what a diet is. She's not a "normal". I may have to go to prison for murder if this continues! I'm already grumpy from lack of something to chew on. I guess I just had to vent. Does anyone have any suggestions that don't include murder or mayhem? I guess maiming is probably out of the question too. Would it be wrong of me to take her present back and buy her a heart instead? Steph
  18. I hope you are doing well one day post op! Welcome to the other side. It will only get better as time goes by. I can't wait for January! I have a few complaints but this morning I had to roll over my waist band on my favorite pant in order to wear them....so how much better can I be? My complaints have little to do with success! I'm waiting to be weighed at doc office but I'm pretty sure I hit onederland!!! I'm with the BAND!! Steph
  19. Centrum makes a liquid, but it makes me gag. You could try it. I'm working on the nasty chewables now. I don't know which is worse. I would love to hear someone say XYZ is the best Vitamin out there but so far no luck. If you find something that is wonderful, please let me know. Steph
  20. It seems like I have a new issue every day but really this one has been going on since I was banded and I'm just bringing it up. Is my stomach going to gurgle for life? It is more than growling because it is hungry. It sits and rolls, churns, and makes the most obnoxious noises. I teach jr. high and high school kids and I can tell you, standing in front of them and my stomach decides it needs to talk over me, is SOOOO embarrassing. I was sitting next to one of my kids helping him with some problems and my stomach rolled for about 5 minutes. I got up after the first and got my bottle of Water thinking it just needed something to work on, but no....it only got worse.:faint: I'm still on liquids and maybe that is it. Maybe once I start eating more, it will stop. I certainly hope so. My geometry kids had a really hard time concentrating on quadrilaterals while my stomach was being so intruding. Does anyone have any insight? Steph
  21. Jes, Wondering how you are doing today and if you have found any relief. Have you called your center to see what they say? Steph
  22. Cerrin, I do feel for you. This morning they were baking gingerbread men in the kitchen here. Christmas is definitely a tough time to be on liquids! When I picked it, I thought "oh how tough can it be?" Big words coming from a fatty! But I try to keep in mind that the reason I wanted to do it now rather than AFTER the season is that these ARE my bad foods and if I waited, I would have an EXTRA 10 pounds to take off. Who wants that? I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and trying to send you positive thoughts. Steph
  23. That is how I feel when my blood sugar is low. If I don't get something sugary during one of those episodes I then get a headache, dizzy, and blurry vision. In the past that has always been a soda. Now I guess it will have to be some sort of fruit juice. It doesn't have to be a lot for me, but it does have to be something. If you feel that way again, you might try some juice. Good luck, Steph
  24. Welcome to the other side MissSac!! Get your rest and keep up with the fluids! Let us know if we can be supportive! Steph
  25. Jes, When I talked to my coordinator about the shoulder pain she suggested liquid ibuprofen. She said she didn't think it was swelling but that it could help IF that was the cause. Since the tylenol and codine didn't help, I assumed it was inflammation. Thankfully mine relieved itself before I took the meds. She did caution that it could be a little tough on your stomach. The only liquid I could find was childrens but it did have adult dosing on it. It might be worth a shot. Steph
