    Hi May Peeps!
Checking in on this 7 weeks post op date. Feels weird to write 7 weeks, in writing I am able to see that its not a very long time, but in my head, my pre surgery existence seems a lifetime ago. Ive still been weighing myself almost daily but I don't chart my weight until Thursdays. Ive been bummed that I'm not losing much and some days not at all, but today it says down 1.8 lbs for the week. I guess I'll take it. We wetraveled to visit my father last weekend, and did a lot of restaurant eating... That was interesting. Choosing a restaurant that had menu items I liked as well as items that I thought that I could eat. I tried to remember all the tricks and info, that I've learned here and from NUT. But eating out with family (that Loves to eat as much as I used to) was definitely tricky. I tried to use my eat slower app, and did pretty well with time between bites. But I def struggled with knowing when to stop. Esp when the rest of the table was still eating. and everything tasted soon good. I did have a few bites of things I shouldn't have... Like cornbread at this amazing soul food restaurant (3bites for sure) and another night a taste of my husband's cake (just 1 bite) And I def noticed that I didn't feel well after those meals. Got a bit nauseous and hot.. thought that I may throw up, but thankfully didn't. I can see that I feel the best after a meal with fish. Still having a Protein shake for Breakfast nearly every day. Have added a Protein Shake back in the evening when I haven't filled my 60 g minimum for the day. Doctor's 6 week checkup was last week and I was down 22 pounds, they said that was great for where I started and that they would be looking for a loss of 30lbs by the 3 month visit. They said I am tracking ahead of that goal, so I guess I'll use their faith in my progress until I can find my own. I've still been walking 4.5 to 5.5 miles most days, and actually just got a Fitbit. Its def gonna help me stay motivated. Well Ive rambled long enough, Its so good to hear of your progresses and even struggles, helps me remember I am not in this alone. <3

trishaz got a reaction from ShellMilliner in How can I be stalled at 10 days post surgery
Well today is a new day..... I truly appreciate everyone's reply yesterday, and as much as I knew the answer, it was reassuring to hear that there was nothing I was doing wrong, except getting a little anxious. I think I just had a lot of emotions build up and needed to vent some out. I am going to try not to weigh every day, which will be extremely hard - lol.... I guess after reading about other's weight loss success after surgery, once I had my own surgery, it's only natural to want to see the results as well.......and want to see them daily ????. Thanks again.......have a wonderful weekend!!!!

Your body is healing. Your caloric intake is so low your body will go into starvation mode-your metabolic rate slows as well. Hang in there. I just got over a 17 day stall at 6 weeks post op. It will go down, have patience. Good luck!

You lost 15 lbs in 8 days !! This is your body regrouping. It's trying to figure out what just happened. This is completely normal and expected. Focus on recovery and not weight loss the first month.

I am only 4 days post op and when I weighed myself today I was only down 4lbs from surgery day. I know it is baffling and I cannot imagine that the pounds are not just disappearing but with all that said I also feel like I need to say RELAX! Two days without a drop can not be considered a stall and instead of focusing on wrapping your head around the "lack" of weightloss you could use this time to focus on letting your body heal. Please don't set yourself up for unreasonable expectations and therefore disappointment.

trishaz got a reaction from Djmohr in Almost one week out.... things are definitely looking up =) except constipation
Good Morning All.... I had my bypass on May 5th, so tomorrow morning I will be exactly one week out. It has definitely been a week of ups and downs (although mainly ups). Surgery went better and quicker than expected as I also had a large hernia repaired at the same time. I also was released from the hospital a day earlier than I had expected. So things were looking great! Thursday was great but Friday was my day from hell. Everything hurt so bad, and I felt that I could barely move. By Sunday I felt like I was back on the upswing. I was able to walk my block outside without having to stop and catch my breath. I could stand up without feeling like my stomach was dropping to my feet and I was able to enjoy a wonderful mother's day with my family. This morning was the first morning I didn't struggle to roll over in bed or have pain sitting up to get out of bed. So I think I'm starting off my week great. Just one problem...... I still have not gone to the bathroom since surgery. Is this normal? I know I have only had liquids, and am peeing regularly. I am a little concerned as before surgery I took Milalax every morning with my coffee. Maybe I should start taking it again?? Any advice? (btw, down 10 pounds since surgery and 34 pounds total! )

This is completely normal. For me it was about 10 days. If you are drinking a lot of Protein currently that can actually make you constipated. You are more likely not eating much at this point which is causing this.
If it doesn't resolve, give your doctors office a call and they will recommend something. I would not take anything until they tell you it is ok.
    Good luck!

Good luck to you! I'm sure you will do fine. I just had my surgery on Tuesday morning and will tell you that Thursday was my day from hell...(my own fault as I expected I would feel a lot better than I did, and thought I would be over the bad pains by Thursday - so it made it all worse) . but after talking to some mentors and becoming a little more accepting of how I was feeling ,it has been going great. I am hoping next week will bring even better days! Keep us posted on how you do =)

trishaz got a reaction from Salonboi in May 5th Surgery time
Such a small world. I have not been on this site since my surgery which was also May 5th, same surgeon and I'm sure same hospital (Mercy). Glad to hear you did well with it all. I was released at around 11:00 on Wednesday morning. Wednesday was not too bad other than having a difficult time catching my breath after walking. Thursday was a good day - felt good and was able to walk my cul-de-sac for the first time. Still on meds. After Thursday, I figured Friday would be a breeze and I should be well on the upswing...... wrong! It was my worse day ever. I spent most of the day on meds and in bed. This morning I woke up feeling better and have actually been awake since 4:30 am. I find I am still getting winded when I walk a lot, but getting through it. How is your pain today? Mine has subsided quite a bit since yesterday - but not counting on it staying that way. From other people I know who have had this surgery - the first week was referred to as "hell week". I am doing better on getting my liquids in today - sleeping a lot the past days have limited my total intake. Looking forward to moving on to week two. Let's stay in touch.....
