    Sad and shocked

In the UK I don't think you can get gastric surgery without seeing a psychologist at least once, they do it so they can try figure out why you are overweight in the first place and how to stop negative behaviour. Speaking to one doesn't mean your crazy it is literally just a person to air out concerns with and to try and determine why you do the things you don't like, it doesn't mean you are crazy at all.

    February 17th anyone?

Your diet is just a tad bit longer than mines! My diet is 10 days. I received my pre-surgery diet today which is low carb, low fat. I think I will try and make it as liquid as possible to prepare myself for after the surgery. Investing in a blender is a great idea, I have a cheap mini flask type blender for smoothies but it gives off a suspicious burning smell whenever I use it! What kind of weights are you doing? I have body pump weights and a DVD to follow, which is hard work, but I find I am easily distracted when I try and do weights free style. All that support sounds great! It will be a great motivation. I luckily have a lot of support in terms of my family, and my sister is looking for a weight loss buddy to help shift her baby weight.

    Sad and shocked

I have to agree with you, when I used to look in the mirror I used to convince myself I didn't look that bad. But then again I would suck in my gut and stand at a flattering angle, so I think I was just conning myself. Sadly a photo doesn't lie and even though it's upsetting to see yourself in a way that's completely unflattering you should keep it as motivation! I have a series of unflattering photos to remind me why I'm doing all this in the first place .

    Tomorrow--January 5

Plenty of people out there who think far too highly of their own opinion. You have to trust that you made the right decision for yourself. I bet in a years time, when you have lost plenty of your weight he will be singing a different tune

    February 17th anyone?

My surgeon hasn't given me any pre-op information yet but I still have to meet with the psychiatrist in the next few weeks so they will probably let me know more then, they also said they would send me out a letter with all the info so hopefully I get that soon. Can I ask where you are from? Im asking because I'm from Scotland and I am curios to hear everyone's different experience? What is it that you have to take? I haven't heard of that before!

    How is your skin?!

I heard that going to body pump classes is a good way to tighten up the skin? Has anyone had any success with this? I have been to class before, and it was a lot of hard work, but if it does help I think that would be a good motivator. Plus age should count too right? I mean the younger you are the more likely the skin will bounce back? Is there any truth to this?

    February 17th anyone?

Yeh of course you can add me I have only recently joined the site so I'm still getting a little used to it. It will be good to speak to someone who is going through it all at the same! We can keep each other going haha
  8. I'm not going to miss all the stupid guilt about being fat, or obsessing about food... And I'm certainly not going to miss wearing ugly misshapen clothes!

    Getting rid of addictions

For me the best way to stop smoking is literally take a day at a time. It was like trying to beat a high score! I would say to myself each day that's another day without a cigarette, how many more days can I go? And eventually you get to 30 days and you think I don't want to ruin my high score haha. Plus try and spot the places you 'always' smoke at, for me I used to automatically smoke in my car or if I was outside, it's pure habit and if you can break each of these habits by mentally stopping yourself and telling yourself it's just out of habit it gets so much easier. It's worked for me so far and I'm now 2 1/2 years smoke free.
