I've been off grid for awhile. I was sleeved March 25, 2015 and I am down 125 lbs! Went from a size 24 to size 10...this was the best decision of my life! I moved from SE KS to Brooklyn, NY last month. I commute using mass transit which involves lots of walking and stairs. Could not have done it prior to surgery. Now it's a breeze.

I had my 6 month check up yesterday dr said I'm doing great! But I haven't exercised since mid March. I have COPD & Asthma. So in March I came down with Bronchitis, haven't been breathing good since then. But I'm down to 164, dr said 150-155 is his goal. I must be doing something right because I'm still loosing. I love it, a new me... My legs are gone and my boobs are gone still have some around the middle to lose. I just love my sleeve!

I am constantly telling my husband that I am a cheap date. I either share his meal or he gets all of the side dishes from mine and whatever I order usually amounts to about three or four meals for me.

Hey ladies - I've missed you!!! I've been gone way too long but still on track for my upcoming WLS. I had to switch to the bypass as it will be my best chance of getting rid of my diabetes. I started this journey in October 2014 at the age of 53 and my surgery is this coming Tuesday, April 21st at 7:30 am at mayo Hospital here in Jacksonville, FL where I live. I am beyond excited!!! I'd dieted and long some weight, then gained it back but since starting my 2 week pre-op liquid Optifast diet, I have already lost 14 lbs. I'm on day 12 and it has been really easy. My 93 year old father-in-law passed away last Monday and the funeral was in Orlando. I just took my shakes with me and when asked why I wasn't eating, I simply told them this was the final piece to my post-stroke puzzle as I needed to lose this weight. No one knows I'm having surgery with the exception of one sister-in-law and I wanted to keep it that way. I've only told 5 people besides my husband, son and brother. Tomorrow I will tell my parents. I've waited as close to my surgery date as possible to tell them because all they'll do is worry. They live here and I'm sure they'll be there with my husband and son. I hope I can stay here with yall even though I'm not being sleeved I'm so happy to hear how well everyone is doing.

I've been following you all for a couple of weeks. I'm 59 and will be starting my 2 week pre-op diet in 2 days. My date is 5/5. I'm excited & nervous. I'm 5-11 and starting weight of 296, now at 291. Couldn't stand the thought of breaking the 300 mark and now I won't. You're a neat group of ladies & I'm so glad to have found you.

@LisaGB: I had to spend an extra day in the hospital as well. I couldn't drink anything without pain. I am glad you are feeling a little more human! My first shower was heavenly!

just thought of something else... I love constant comment tea by Bigelow and I switched to Decaf after my sleeve... Anyway sipping warm has always helped when I feel nauseous.

They immediately gave me drugs for nausia at the hospital. I would contact your surgeon and have him write you a prescription. for me the nausia passed in about 3 days. Also, try sucking on ice chips. When I first started drinking Protein Shakes I had to pour them over crushed ice and use a spoon... Took me about 3 hours to get down one shake. lol

@@Kathy812 Yes, I had surgery Wednesday but complications of pain and nausea kept me in the hospital until yesterday...feeling almost human today. My pre-op diet was more generous than others have described. According to the surgeon the size of my liver wasn't an issue during the procedure.

@@LisaGB, I won't pretend it's easy but what helped me is staying busy to keep my mind off food. If you slip up, do not go overboard. Drink plenty of Water & I was allowed various broths to help w/hunger pains.
remember, if your liver does not shrink sufficiently , the surgeon may not be able to do the surgery. You don't want to come this far only to have to start the pre-op diet over again.
Stay strong & focused on the prize. It is sooooo worth it!!!!

Woohoo! My past was drastically different from everyone else's. From my first appointment with the surgeon until my surgery was 3 weeks. No prep. In some ways, it was easy because I didn't have time to fret. But I had to do an enormous amount of research on my own. I knew more about it then the hospital dietitian. But almost 3 months out, I am doing fine. I think, other than following all of the Dietary issues, the best advice I have received is to remember that everyone is different and will lose the weight at a different pace. As tempting as it is, try not to compare yourself or your progress with other people. As long as you listen to your sleeve, you will do just fine. Good luck!

How exciting to be so close, sounds like you have done great with preop diet. It does seem like each surgeon has their own regimen for preop...thanks for sharing yours:). I will be thinking positive thoughts flowing for you as your day gets closer!

Thanks everyone for the support! My prep diet is 10 days long and I can have low carb/high Protein Shakes (using Premier vanilla), fruit, light yogurt, fat free chicken/turkey/ham, plain low carb veggies, dill pickles, fat free cottage cheese, sf Popsicles and fudgecicles, sf pudding and Jello. It hasn't been too bad and I've lost 14 #s! Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday so only 3 more days! Getting excited...
