  1. sounds like you are eating too fast and getting either a case of stacking (that stuck feeling in the esophagus) or the foamies (too much saliva/phelgm).

I think you are correct. I think I am eating to fast and possibly not chewing my food thoroughly. I am always in such a hurry. I will slow down.

Some have found success using the Eat Slower app. You can try taking one tiny bite, chewing until it dissolves, eating 2 minutes the repeat. Also remember to keep at least a 30 minute window on your eating and drinking.

Is this a phone app? I will look it up - Thanks!

Also try playing around with the time of day you take your prilosec. I tended to get acid in the evenings so taking my omeprzole around 2 -3 pm made a difference for me.

I take mine at dinner now. Before surgery I took it at bedtime. Immediately after surgery I took it in the morning but I was having terrible reflux at night so my doctor told me to take it around dinner to see how I did. So far so good.

    Thank you everyone!

  2. So now that it has been a while - how are you doing EllieMae?

At my Post-Op appointment my surgeon expressed concern that my bellybutton (incision site) was still seeping/bleeding. I was supposed to go back in two weeks later to have it checked again Tomorrow is the two week mark but my appointment was canceled due to a little snow storm called Juno. Bleh!

Now my appointment has been set for two weeks from now. I'm not happy about that because in addition to not being able to exercise until I am cleared, I am also concerned about my incision. I would not be so concerned but he seemed a little concerned which, of course, makes me concerned. There is not more bleeding but there is still a slight bit of seepage and there is an unpleasant smell.

Anyone ever have a similar situation with their incision?

    Thanks,

    Chele

  3. Hi - I posted this in another topic about reflux/lump in throat/etc.

I am almost one month out after my surgery. I am on pureed and soft food. I feel like I have a lump in my throat all of the time and it causes me to feel like I am almost always on the verge of throwing up. I also have a lot of drainage and my mouth is creating a lot more saliva than I am used to which is adding to the nausea. I was eating cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, etc. but I think the dairy is adding to my phlegm issue. I don't know if it has anything to do with it but I take 40 mg Prilosec every day for my reflux. I am also always thirsty but I feel like I am drinking too much because I get so full! Also, I thought I would not feel hunger pains anymore but I do.

    I am miserable!

    Thanks,

    Chele

  4. Hi - I saw this topic but I cannot see any of the posts so I hope I am not duplicating any questions.

  6. "OK to take Tums"

Thanks for the tip - I took some last night and after awhile it seemed to help. I'm going to follow up with my doctor and confirm "emergency treatments." ;)

"I would suggest calling your surgeon's office"

My post-op is scheduled for this Tuesday. If it happens again before then, I will call. If not, I will wait until Tuesday.

    Thank you everyone!

  7. Hi I'm Chele! I gained weight after taking a sedentary job followed by two C-Sections, a full hip replacement, and a hysterectomy all within four years. Back to back babies and surgeries took a toll on my body. Eventually, my job changed and I traveled one week out of each month. I soon found myself eating really well with clients – and I don’t mean healthy – I mean fine dining full of fatty sauces, wine, Hors d'oeuvres, and then fast food at the airports. I dieted and exercised the best I could but my weight got out of control, I got sick so easily, and I had NO ENERGY. I looked in to Gastric Surgery a few times in the past but it was never covered by insurance and I did not want to take out a loan for the surgery. Finally I reached 250lbs which is a lot on a small 5’3” frame. I got the pre-diabetic and high blood pressure warning bells and that set me on the Gastric Surgery train again. So here I am. I started this process in May of 2014. I was 238lbs the first time I weighed in at the doctor’s office. I had been on a low calorie diet for six months at that point and the side effects were not killing me. I had the Gastric Sleeve surgery on 12/29/14. As of 1/10/15 I am now down to 214lbs but most of that was lost before the surgery – I have lost about 12lbs in less than two weeks. I have a long road to travel.

  8. Just woke up with stomach acid in my throat and mouth. I'm miserable! I take 40 mg Omeprazole each morning (before and after gastric sleeve surgery). Pre surgery, I would take Alka-Seltzer and/or drink Sprite with soda crackers but less than two weeks after surgery that is no longer an option. I was not prepared for this surprise and I don't know what to do to stop it! Any suggestions?

  9. Hi I'm Chele! I'm 47, 5'3" and started out at 238. I had the Gastric Sleeve surgery on 12/29/14. I am now down to 220 but most of that was lost before the surgery (I started the procecss in May 2014). It has been less than five days so I have a long road to travel. I would love to hear any food/eating tips from successful members! Thanks!
