If it helps, this is what I do: I have a protein drink for breakfast, cheese and some type of meat (total for both about 3 ounces) for lunch, for my two mid-day snacks (one before lunch, one after) I have a protein bar or a handful of nuts with a small portion of fruit, then for dinner I eat what I enjoy...just not a lot of it. I am still losing, albeit slowly, but I am almost one year out. Don't forget to exercise, it will help continue your weight loss. Oh, and I allow myself 3 small shortbread cookies for my evening snack. SMALL! Good luck to you.

Same here, UNLESS it is ICE COLD. Then I think the sleeve is disgusted as well as shocked into submissiveness!!! Disgusted....yes, that is DEFINATELY the proper definition of the sensation I get.....

  6. 8 and a half hours left until surgery. Nervous, very nervous.

You'll do fine! Have faith! You've done all your research, know your surgical team and staff, have all prepared for your time at home, so relax and think about your future as a healthy, happy person! Start planning for fun things, like what you will be able to do, and what you'll wear doing those activities!

My husband has his cancer surgery in less than 2 weeks, but he is not nervous at all! I have faith that you will both do fine, and I leave you in God's capable hands to take of you both. God speed!!! And let us know how you do!

Yeah, you know how it is...so surprised , AND unhappy about it (for whatever reason), so they don't say anything, but you can tell by the look of shock on their faces!!!! Ah, satisfaction, at last!!!

Good idea, doing the measurements! Can't wait to hear of your successes!!!

  15. Found a fabulous Ralph Lauren dress on sale yesterday to wear for dressy evenings on my vacation next month. Didn't buy it. It was labeled size 6, but it was too big for me. This feels like the Twilight Zone. Size 6. Too big!

  17. Last week my four-year-old grandson told me that I have “mashed potato arms” and then proceeded to waggle my bat wing. At the time I didn’t react, but I guess it really bothered me since I’m still thinking about it. This loose skin is a scourge.

I have the same problem(?), thank Goodness for 3/4 sleeve tops! And come fall, I'm good with long sleeves!

I'm thinking it's the middle of the summer/heat nasties getting to some of us. At least it's terribly hot where I'm at, and I have found rolonged heat, people aren't as "friendly" as when things are comfortable. Who knows...I find any day without chemo side effects are wonderful!!!

  19. The thinner I get, the wilder my wardrobe. Too much color? Too bad, I'm having a blast.

    1. CanyonBaby

      CanyonBaby

At first I read...."the WIDER my wardrobe", and I thought Yeah! Go shopping! The wider the better!!!! Now when do we hear THAT and jump for joy???? Maybe I need to get new glasses?! An explosion of color is a great thing, indeed....ENJOY!

  20. Why am I so hungry this morning?? Ever have one of those days where no matter what you eat, even high protein options, you just can't get the gnawing stomach hunger to quit? It's barely 10am and I've consumed about half my calories and almost half my protein for the day. And I've been drinking my water.

    1. CanyonBaby

      CanyonBaby

Are you still (or have you started ) taking a PPI? I wonder if it is stomach acid. When I get that insatiable hunger thing, I tend to lean towards dairy. It is heavy and "feels" more filling. Especially yogurt. Maybe worth a try?

  21. Nervous today. I meet with a cardiologist to see why my heart rate is so low and I keep feeling dizzy/lightheade. I passed out a week ago. All of this following major spine surgery. Off all medications and it is still happening. I hope they don't find anything too scary but need answers. Wish me luck!

  22. Enjoying my new strength & cardio routine, but not the increased weight on the scale. I know why that happens when doing strength training so I'm trying to not let it affect my psyche. NSV - Toning muscle and losing inches!! Yeehaw!!

Awesome! The scales should reflect your hard work soon!

  23. Making progress getting in my fluids but its still a challenge. Getting in the pool has been great!

It should improve with time, did you also have a hernia repair at the same time? If you did, it may take a little more time. I still have difficulties with straight water (at 6+ months out), and I did have hernia repair at the same time. It feels like concrete hitting a brick wall! The water-enhancer drops really help me get more in. Have fun at the pool...wish I were with you!

  24. I do well with my meal plan most days, but then there are times when I eat just a bite or two too many and wish I could undo what I just did. Now is one of those times -- a few too many cashews. I know the misery will pass, but until then......Yuck!

Were they the salted type? The salt gets me every time...I am a salt-aholic....love salt, always have, and it is my nemesis. So I always over-do with salty-crunchy stuff...have to stay away from it! HAVE TO!
