    Seminar tonight ????

Having just had the surgery last week, I understand what you mean about wanting it to go smoothly. I don't want to say take your time but make sure you listen to every word and make sure what they say is something you can follow, FOR LIFE. this is the easiest decision to make but the follow through is the hard part. The other person is correct too. I asked for the surgery in late July and had the surgery 6 months later, it went by very quickly. Make sure YOU are mentally and physically ready for this. You will know if this is right for you. I'm not trying to be a buzzkill, only sharing my experience.

    My first NSV

I love when that happens! Good for you.
  4. I seriously think I'm having a brain fart moment. There are many things we can't eat or drink ever again after the surgery. Is there a list somewhere with these food items listed out for us? I could have sworn I'd seen one online but I can't seem to find it now. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I plan on posting this list on my blog for others to see as well.

    One more week!

One week from today, January 8th, I'll be having my surgery. I'm all sorts of excited and can't wait for this to happen. Do any of you post op people have any last minute advice? How did you feel coming out of anesthesia? I'm getting a little ancy, nothing that would make me change my mind about having the surgery, it's more like pre wedding jitters. Hopefully some of you can relate. I have yet to post today on my blog because I don't have any followers yet so I'm asking here instead. If anybody wants to check it out its www.findingsassy.com. I'll be posting my before pics either Tuesday or Wednesday and post surgery pics for those that have asked what we look like right after the surgery. Anyone else have the 8th as their surgery date? It would be nice to have a same day pal to talk with. Thanks every one for your continued support, everybody here has been so much better than my own family.
  6. Has anyone invested in compression garments? I hear they help keep things in place and help reduce skin stretching. I've checked out two sites and one is outrageously priced and the other is more reasonable. Any input is greatly appreciated.

    Baby food?

Anaxila, looks like we are a day apart. My surgery is on the 8th. Looking forward to the big day that I thought would never come!

    New Years

I agree with what most of what's been said. All of us having surgery right before or right after New Years have one heck of a way breaking in the new year. One day at a time is the best I can do. I don't want to set any goals until I'm physically and mentally ready.

    Actual surgical procedure question

I would much rather have incision marks than rolls of skin. Think of them as battle scars and remember that you won the fight!

New App I found that's helpful...

I already downloaded it to my iPad, thank you!
  11. Very true, the house work will still be there when you're read! My surgery is in less than 10 days. I'm getting just a little jittery. It's all worth it though!
  12. Please keep in my mind, this is major surgery. Drill that into your hubs head and don't let him forget that this was in his wedding vows, in sickness and in health. As for the control freak part... Cut yourself some slack, you need the downtime in order to heal. If you do too much too fast, you're going to kick yourself in the but for not taking it easy. It might only be a week or two and you'll be able to be the control freak again. Two weeks is nothing compared to the lifetime you will have with your kids, they deserve a happy and healthy mommy. Good luck!

How long before you returned to work?

Honestly, I was wondering the same thing. My surgery is Thursday January 8th and I planned on going back to work the following Monday January 12. Luckily we've come up with a way for me to work from home and be able to recover as long as I need to. I have an easy job where I'm sitting most of the day anyway. Is your boss aware of your weight loss surgery? I've found it very helpful that they know about. My coworkers are very supportive, thank goodness. Good luck to you!
  14. My pre op diet started last Tuesday. Before that for almost two months, I ate whatever I wanted that I knew I'd not be able to eat again. I put on 11 pounds but I didn't care. Since starting the pre op protein shake and clear liquids I've lost 9.6 pounds. As for the hubs and kids, good question. Remember those wedding vows you took, "in sickness and in health"? There ya go, If your hubs is supportive of your surgery decision then he needs to step up his game and help out. Definitely buy things he can handle preparing for him and the kids. Depending on how old your kids are, give them little chores to help out. They can easily separate the colors of laundry, help set the table, bring mommy her water, etc... Call them mommies little helpers and maybe give them a trip to a park when you're feeling up to it, give them some sort of prize or thank you for helping you and daddy out. I hope this helps!

    13 days to surgery

My surgery is Thursday January 8th. I'm so ready for this. I'm finally starting to get the nervous flutters. I keep my blog updated every few days but since I don't have any followers, yet, I don't get any comments. A pep talk would be kind of nice. Does anyone have any pearls of wisdom to share? You can check out my blog here www.findingsassy.com next week i'll be taking and posting all my before pictures. I know the pics won't be pretty but its got to be done.
  16. I live in Santa Ana and I'm having my surgery in Fountain Valley on January 8th 2015. Where are you in the process, are you Pre or Post surgery? I have a blog too that you can check out. It's another way for me to be accountable. Let me know if you'e interested. www.findingsassy.com
  17. Hi Princess, My surgery is January 5th, 2015. I've been waiting to have this surgery for a very long time. I too would like to have a special buddy going thru this. I'm old enough to be your mother but I'm very young at heart. Once I get past the surgery, watch out world! I'm on Facebook, My Fitness Pal, Fitbit and have no problem texting. I'm sorry I didn't see your post sooner or I would have gladly replied. I'm extremely motivated and committed to getting back to a healthier lifestyle. Let me know if you are interested! Check out my blog, too.
  18. It's such a help to read peoples experiences with the surgery. I know there are pros and cons but I think we all knew going into this that it wasn't going to be a bed of roses. If this procedure was so easy, everyone would be doing it. I can't imagine thinking of this as a regret, this is going to be a major game changer for me and I;m ready for it! I'am writing a blog, my online diary, and I hope to be able to share with others the things we go through, www.findingsassy.com. We can do this!

    Ideal size?

I think back to the happiest time in my life and I weighed in at 129. That's the weight I'm aiming for. It's not set in stone or anything. I just want to be happy and confident in myself again. I will be so excited to shop in the normal sizes again and not in the fluffy ladies section. Size is beside the point, get to where you are happy, that's all that matters!
