    I had surgery yesterday!

Congratulations! I am always glad to hear about a smooth surgical experience, I am two weeks out still. I have noticed that many people, like yourself, return home and sleep in recliners...just wondering why? Anyone else experience this?
  2. Water is definitely going to be my problem also. I drink it like it is a race. I think it comes from being hypnotized years ago in an attempt to lose weight. The suggestion was when I felt hungry I would drink a cool refreshing glass of water, well I do but than eat also! Another failed plan, I could write a book on the crazy attempts over the years! Thank goodness for the sleeve, I can't wait!
  3. I think I may have been on this site and read too many books on the sleeve diet! I got my pre-op diet today and was disappointed. They said what I expected as far as the 3 protein shakes daily but examples included Carnation instant breakfast and Atkins! What...?! I have stocked up on Isopren, unjury, isopure and premium but no mention of these. Now they do let us choose our own but none of the above mentioned????...is this perhaps because it's only pre-op. Clear and full liquids are also included as needed but I guess it just surprised me. Anyone else use the Atkins or Carnation?

Thanks for sharing. You look happy and healthy!
  5. Congratulations on a 100 pound weight loss, that is fabulous! As far as depression your primary care physician or surgeon may be able to prescribe an anti-depressant to get you through this until you can find a support system. I would reach out to them, don't suffer in silence.

    Carbonation

    No carbonation
  7. I hope you are well with whatever you decided. Remember you have young children to think of also, young mothers have much to do and it's a lot easier to be thin and healthy when your doing it! Only you can make the final decision...good luck.

How did you determine your "goal weight"?

I'm the same as you...5'0", I didn't pay much attention as the range always seems a bit drastic. I think age, curves and height should always factor in, you know what you should look like at a healthy weight.

Cheated every day of 7 day pre op diet

I am not looking forward to 2 weeks of liquids pre-op either. I just keep thinking of what my surgeon said and that's the better we stick to the plan the easier the surgery will be! Good luck.

Family cruise @ 3 months post op

They do have healthy foods and a wide variety depending on the cruise line. We went on Norwegian a few years back and I was surprised how healthy the choices were. If your tempted to indulge put your swim suit on and go sit by the pool! Good luck.

11 Days Post Op - Update

Glad to hear you are doing so well but sorry you hurt your back..that stinks. Do they think the surgery had anything to do with the back problem or just bad timing? Wishing you a speedy recovery!

  19. Thank you for sharing this part of your journey. It's a fear we all have and you reminding us that we are all human is kind. I think we are all recovering obese people for life, you caught yourself so don't look back. Thanks and I know you will be back to goal weight again.

    Sleeved yesterday February 2

Congrats...I wish you a speedy recovery. It so sad how quickly they send you home now, soon all surgeries will be done in the parking lots at this rate. LOL. Feel better.
  21. Hi, I have a date to meet with my surgeon on January 30, 2015. I have been reading and learning as much as I can on the sleeve and feel I am prepared for what lies ahead and am committed to making it successful. However, my family is not feeling the same. They feel the lap band is a safer option for someone my age, 57 years old, and has less of a complication risk. I can understand the concerns of major surgery and leak complications but I am having trouble seeing the lap band as an option. I am not sure why I feel this way and I know I make the final decision but would appreciate any advice or encouragement on either surgery. Thanks. Angela
  22. I will not miss all the meds for weight related problems or having to get a seatbelt extension on the plane????. I think I may try kayaking⚓️
  23. I have chosen to keep it private for the most part. Of course my husband and daughters know and are supportive but I am a private person and I feel like it's really nobody's business. My parents are elderly and I know they would worry so I decided not to include them. I've read a few books and blogs and the thing that stuck with me is that once you tell someone you cannot untell...(is that a word?) I will get my support from this site and support groups. The one exception would be if someone with weight issues asks I might share if I think it might be helpful to them. I hope I have a good story to tell! My journey is just beginning.
