    What are you eating?

I am about three months out now and have gone thru different phases of likes and dislikes with foods. Right now I have coffee and a protein shake with a half of bananna in it for breakfast, usually chicken salad, egg salad, ham salad or seafood salad for lunch w/ a tomato and dinner is usually a Greek yogurt with granola and almonds. I find my cut off time for dinner is about 5pm or else I'm no longer hungry, not sure why but whatever. Snacks are usually cheese, nuts or protein bars. Good topic, I like reading about what others are eatting so not to get bored with my choices.

Why did I have to be the 1%...?

Wow...that's a tough one! God bless you and I pray the rest is all good. Stay strong.
  3. Hi all! I recently started drinking 'chick-fil-A' DIET lemonade. It has 30 calories and 3 g of sugar for a large(which usually last me two days). It is made with fresh squeezed lemons which is the reason for the calories but it is a nice alternative to crystal lite if you get bored with that. It helps me get in some much needed fluids in addition to my water and shakes and it's a nice treat to have the lemon pulp in it! Just wondering if might help others having difficulty getting in the fluids. I count it as a snack and log in the calories everyday.

    Turn the page

Good Luck, it sounds like you will be fine. I am 8 weeks out and 40 lbs down! I just made reservations for my husband and I to go kayaking next month at the beach! I've been wanting to do this for years. Past years I watched my family paddle around while I sat on the dock. I promised myself I would join them this year and thanks to the sleeve, I AM! No regrets.

    Trying to stay positive

Don't buy too much of anything in quantity as your likes and dislikes will likely change after your surgery. Ice chips, SF popsickles, SF jello and lots of water will be helpful to have on hand for your first week along with some Tylenol and a heating pad... Good luck.
  6. I was sleeved on 3/26 and have lost 34 lbs. it seems like we are all in the same average which is reassuring that I'm getting it right. Good to know. Let's checkin again next month:).

Please Don't Tell me your Horror Story

I had a fairly quick and event free recovery:). I was in the hospital for 3 days due to difficulty with getting in fluids initially but once I made that transition it was fairly easy. I had only one small incision besides the belly button so I had no discomfort with these. I did sleep a lot but once I left the hospital I needed only Tylenol for discomfort. I am glad I made the decision to live the sleeved life, it has worked for me so far....no regrets. It's a learning journey and I think it's different for everyone. My advise would be go in optimistic and knowledgeable and have a good surgeon! Good luck.
  8. Has anyone else noticed their new stomach to be sensitive to non-food stuff? This morning I found my dog with a dead bird in his mouth that he must of retrieved from the ground since pug dogs are not hunters. Well I immediately ordered him to drop it and than ran into the house to throw up! Every time I think about it my sleeve gets queezy. Anyone else find they get nauseous easier now? Just wondering...
  9. I am not looking forward to this dilemma! I did recently read that gelatin helps with hair regrowth in general, may have to look into that.

I go to Earth Fare Grocery on Fridays and get a organic roasted chicken for $6.00. It lasts all week!

    POST OP HELL-HELP

I agree with Veronica, if in doubt go to the ER to get hydrated and ask for a stronger med for nausea. Work on the fluids first and when you are feeling better try SF Carnation Instant Breakfast, it is a milder way to get protein when mixed with 1% or skim milk. Once your new stomach is settled you can try adding the heavier protein drinks back in. Hope you feel better soon!
  13. Hi All, I Will be six weeks out tomorrow and have been doing well. I did have a UTI last week (I am prone to them) and was treated by my PCP with a five day course of antibiotics. I was feeling better until today...I felt nauseous all day. I did have a small piece of filet mignon last night (2 ounces) and chewed it well and than had two Apple slices afterwards. I'm wondering if I feel this way due to the food or the UTI or maybe even a stomach virus that seems to be going around. I was just wondering if Anyone else have trouble with these foods at this stage? Thanks.

    6 weeks post-op

Thanks all... Feeling better today. I think I am tired of the lack of variety in my diet but every time I try to add something new it doesn't always agree with me. I do believe it was the steak also, any suggestions for non-complicated interesting food at this stage would be appreciated. I'm not much of a cook and get discouraged with all these receipes with 12 ingredients. I shouldn't complain as I am doing well, no complications, speedy recovery and 30 lbs. lost! I'm just bored with my food. I am afraid that if I don't spice it up I will be tempted to look to junk foods. Someone suggested these new home delivery programs that ship nutritious ingredients and receipes to your door for you to prepare. Anyone tried them? I am not overly concerned with calories as my stomach only holds very small amounts before I am full, So a 1/4 cup of food is usually pretty low cal! Okay I'm done. Thanks for listening.

    New to the Forum!

I would check with the doctor about the rash. You may be allergic to something you are using.

    My broken system

It seems like this story is pretty much the norm for weight loss post-surgery. Maybe some veterans can give us some hope as to when this changes. I am losing so slowly now that it's painful....following plan but feeling discouraged.

    This is me

Sounds like you are doing great! Listen to your body and of course your bariatric team and remember that weight lost with the sleeve is gone for good! As long as you follow plan you will be fine, it's a new beginning don't worry about the past gains when you didn't have the sleeve as a tool. I've been told that after three months the weight loss speeds up and than slows down a bit at 6 months but you will lose with the sleeve for up to two or more years! Good luck!
  18. Talk to your surgeon about the reflux...he may be able to up the dose for you. Is it possible for family to take a few days time to come and help you out? It never hurts to ask.

    what protein shake

The problem is you may like them now but not after surgery so don't buy too many, like I did! I am 4 weeks out today and still can't tolerate them. It's carnation instant breakfast SF WITH 1% organic milk and/or Isopure clear alpine punch diluted with water for me to date. I hope to be able to use the shakes again but they just don't agree with my new tummy...

    Isopure drinks

I really like the small bottles in the Four pack from Amazon. I mix a bottle with water 50/50 everyday and I get my fluids and 15g of protein just by sipping all day. I like the alpine punch.

    Sleeved on Tuesday the 14th

Sip sip sip...also ice chips, popsickles and jello! I had dreams for awhile, I think it's the anesthesia still in your system....they lasted about a week.
  22. Is she concerned about complications and your daughter or is she just anti-surgery? I'd try to find out what her objections are and maybe have her go to the surgeons office with you to reassure her. The more she knows may help ease her fears if that's the case. If she is just anti WLS then don't worry it's your journey. Good luck!

    March Sleevers

Must be something about the atmosphere lately with all the stalls! Add me to the list, I DONT LIKE IT! I'm sticking to plan so fingers crossed for all of us!
  24. I have been using Celebrate vitamins as they offer combinations to cut down on having to take so many individual ones. Some are chewable, some are gummy type and others are sublingual, your choice. So far they have worked out for my schedule. I get mine thru Amazon prime but you can order through their website also.
