  1. I can't believe you missed Obama's speech!!!

But, I must thankyou for your kind assessment of McCain's speech. I too thought it was well spoken.

I also thought Obama's speech was very gracious. With no hint of gloating or negativity towards those who hadn't voted for him. As I told my son who is still sad his "team" didn't win. As of this morning there are no longer teams, the race is over and we are now all on the same team. "Team America". Corny, I know.

Now that it is over I feel I can do much more good by backing him wholeheartedly on the issues in which we agree and waiting patiently for the pendulum of power to eventually swing back on those areas for which we disagree.

And praying fervently everyday that the lunatic whack jobs that are inevitably out there (like those from the Oklahoma City bombings) never succeed with any of their insane and down right despicable plots against Obama.

Very nicely put, I agree with you! I am also glad that Obama's victory was sound so there will not be any election issues to deal with. Enough is enough.

I missed both speeches, but caught blurbs on the morning news. Sounds like McCain was gracious and Obama was inspiring.

Time to move on and get past all the negativity. Agree to disagree and get on with normal everyday life!

  2. Just because one's parents are older doesn't mean they are smarter and wiser. If we are referring to an adult parent versus a child, then probably, yes. But, I am 42 years old and my parents are 75 and 76. We do not share the same beliefs. Does that make them right and me wrong, no. Does that make me right and them wrong, no. They were raised in a generation of racism, sexism, etc. There was no tolerance for anything that is different than what they consider "the norm". I love my parents, but there beliefs are outdated.

We have learned much in recent years and my generation has grown so much. My children, at the ages of 15 and 17 are of a much more accepting generation. They, along with their friends, don't understand racism and they don't understand why people are against same-sex relationships. I am proud of them that they are accepting of everyone for who they are and what they are. And, if their beliefs end up being different than mine, I will not chastise them, I will accept them and be proud that they are individuals who can think with their own minds and make their own decisions.

Umm, I think she made it clear she was referring to CHRISTIANITY. Did you not read her response??

  3. ... and i think bringing back the taxes to the big corporations is not a bad thing.

I most certainly agree, but guess what? Do you really think they are going to eat up the tax increase from their profit? I think not, it will most definately be passed onto the consumer, you and me. We will be paying the corporations higher taxes when we go shopping.

I am excited for him to spread the wealth, since I have none to spread, maybe I can get somebody else's!!! Woo Hoo!!!

  4. You know if this thing goes that way - the way of fighting in the streets like we had in the 60s - I will hold John McCain personally responsible for conducting such a sleezy and rage inciting campaign.

WHAT? Is that a joke?

Far from it!!! He stayed true to his word that he was not going to bring Rev Wright into his campaign and he didn't. He stayed true to his word that he would not accept public financing for his campaign, Obama did not. He reputiated attacks on Obama, sorry to say Obama would not extend him the same courtesy.

For you to say that he ran a sleezy and rage inciting, (wtf??) campaign really shows how closed your mind really is.

  5. That being said, I really do hope that if Obama is elected (and it is looking that way so far) that 2 years down the line I can say that I was wrong. Whomever wins this election has a long road ahead of him and I can just hope and pray that they can help our country fis some of the problems we have created.

I couldn't agree more!! I would love for everybody to get to tell me "I told you so" if it means this country is in a better place then, than it is today.

I'm very excited to learn tonight who our next President is going to be!

  6. Wonder what the Obama camp response will be to this.

Um, excuses, denial, conspiracy.....you name it.

Or they will treat it as a non-issue or deflect it by diverting attention to all the other millions of illegal immigrants. Either way, they will not take it seriously.

  7. Interesting article by the Associated Press. Obama's aunt from Kenya is here illegally and is in PUBLIC HOUSING!!!!

Hope your friends are still HAPPY paying her way in a country when she does not pay ANY taxes.

I don't know how to post links or whatever to link the article but it is on the MSN home page right now.

    NICE....

  8. Carrie- don't let the wing nuts get you down. They may innundate you with their propaganda and profession of right-ness, but they are wrong and most Americans know that. Thank the good Lord.

Wing nuts? Come on BJean, why do you consistently resort to childish name calling? Does it get anyone anywhere? I used to respect your posts, used to. Lately, not so much. If you can't seem to get your point across w/out that type of language, perhaps you should re-evaluate your point.

  9. But, yes, McCain has made references that, logically and without spin appear to say she is an expert.

I guess that depends on interpretation. I have not taken his or her remarks to mean she is an expert, but an advocate, two very different things.

But I digress...it's not a very important issue with me but I just wanted to point out that I don't believe they have mislead the people by calling her an expert when she is not.

  10. I don't think Sarah Palin is claiming she's an expert on disabilities. I always took her statements and McCain's statements to mean that she knows what it's like to live with someone with disabilities and she's going to do everything she can to bring awareness to disabilities.

Yeah, that's what how I took it as well. The words Expert on Autism, or any disability was never uttered from either of them, just BJean trying to spin their words as usual. He/She specifically said that she will be an ADVOCATE in the White House, I have no idea when the meaning of the word Advocate changed to mean Expert.

  11. To criticize Obama's jokes about housing and financial topics is laughable for sure. Where were you when McCain was downright hateful with his humor? Or did you just forget to mention your distain for that?

What? I watched the whole thing and did not see anything "hateful" from either side. Please do tell what you were watching that was "hateful"? Did you not hear some booing when Obama made the "joke" about AIG? Maybe I am the only one who heard that. Anyway, I was laughing along with Obama until that one, made me cringe a bit, not for any other reason than it pisses me off that we are bailing their asses out and they are using OUR money to go hunting and having spa treatments. That in no way shape or form can be funny to me. Sorry.

Or maybe once again, we'll have to admit that all have our own ways of looking at and interpreting things.

I do not hesitate to admit that we for sure have our own interpretations, obviously.

  12. I watched both McCain's speech and Obama's last night at the Memorial dinner. I thought McCain's was really funny. Obama had his moments but I didn't think it funny when he used the housing and economy situation as a punchline. I know it was supposed to be all light and funny but he even got some boos for one particular comment about AIG.

All in all, I was very entertained, who knew McCain was so funny! I didn't!

  13. What, they weren't harassing women, throwing stuff at them, shouting out "don't kill your baby!", dragging them away from the door, threatening them? Because that's all I ever hear that pro-lifers do, that's what I see portrayed on television, and that's what people on this thread have told me that pro-lifers do. You mean they were just holding signs and perhaps praying? Incredible. :wink2:

    Yeah, shocking I know!

  14. Thanks, Missy. You should spend some time in front of that clinic. It's very humbling. Just start out by going there on a Sunday (if they're closed; some clinics kill on Sundays, too), sit on the sidewalk (public access) and pray. If you have kids, bring some sidewalk chalk and have them write the phone number of a local CPC and things like "adoption not abortion" or "abortion stops a beating heart". Pray for the clinic workers, the mothers who are coming in that week, for the family members that are going to be impacted as well. Once you've done that for a while, try doing it on a day when the clinic is open. Continue to pray and sidewalk chalk, and if you have the opportunity, respectfully talk to the women going in. Even if you don't think you have an impact, you will. Give the babies the dignity of being there.

Fargo is a couple hours away from where I live, I was just visiting my sister that day.

While we drove by, there were people standing there holding signs, it was really a moment for me, literally brought tears to my eyes.

Maybe someday I will be able to go sit there, but I don't think I could bring myself to go near it right now. So heartbreaking.

  15. Anyway, as to things working, I'm involved in a movement called 40 Days For Life which holds 40-day vigils outside of abortion clinics in 177 counties across the country and outside of the US as well. Yesterday was 1/2 way through the campaign and so far 268 babies have been saved. Maybe a drop in the bucket, but that's 268 babies that are alive and 268 women who won't suffer post-abortion consequences. And the abortion industry is none too happy about these efforts. We'll keep fighting for life, because even one life affected is worth it!

That is such a wonderful wonderful thing you are doing Gadget! I commend your dedication and passion for the pro-life movement! You are actually getting out there and practicing what you preach, which is a lot more than most people can say.

The only abortion clinic in ND is in Fargo, I've never seen it until a couple of weeks ago. My sister and I were driving around downtown at night after we ate at a pizza place and as we drove by she said that is the clinic. Chills went down my spine, I can't even explain the feeling I got just driving by, horrible feeling. Sadness.

I have so much respect for you and what your doing to help this cause.

  16. Months ago when I heard how many more new people Democrats had registered to vote than Republicans I new if the race was even close the Republicans would be screaming voter fraud. It's the only way on November 5th they can say they really did not lose and the country is still center right.quote]

Republicans are screaming voter fraud, really?

This just in......ACORN leaders have ACKNOWLEDGED voter fraud.
