Good for You!!! I was banded by Dr. Marley in April. He is the best!! I have lost close to 50 lbs. Please remember this is NOT a miracle weight loss plan. You must adhere to Portion Control and be willing to be patient. Best of luck to you!

I have a feeling that the reason Nurses who are trained to access ports have not been encouraged to do so is that it may be a threat to a very lucrative business , that being the fills after the proceedure. I would be anxious to know if the Nurses working in the surgeons office are trained to do fills or if not why not?

Magic bullet. It is compact, and who wants to have a large appliance to keep on the counter, and who wants to wash a large blender container..............!!!

carnation instant Breakfast mixed with a "magic bullet" realitively inexpensive, and very tasty.

I am having my first fill this Wednesday. I had an unremarkable recovery post band....however although I have not been on a scale in 3 weeks, I feel that I have not lost any more weight. I may have even gained a few pounds back that I lost pre and immediately post op. I feel like I never had anything done!!! Has anyone else had the same experience?
I sure do hope the fill stops my hunger. Oh and I should add, I have stayed away from breads, goodies etc. However I know my portions were off of the recommended amount. Please let me know if anyone has a similar experience.

Hi,
I could have written your post!! I had my band placed on April 8th, now that the swelling is down, I could eat anything!!!! I am trying real hard to stay on track, but that 6 week post op before a fill is brutal. Has anyone had a fill before the 6 weeks? My DR. will not consider it.

Please do not allow your self to dehydrate. You may need to see your surgeon and he may order iv fluids if you are unable to tolerate drinking due to nausae. I was banded on 4/8, had very little pain but because nausaeted day 5 and yesterday had to have 1 liter of iv fluids. Today I am feeling very good.

My particular wish is too buy a lovely cotton summer dress, and NOT wear my berkinstocks with it!! Nope a sexy heeled shoe would just be divine!!

I was banded on April 8th, went back to work yesterday, unfortunately it was interrupted by this awful nausae, so I only made it for 7 hours. I am confident this is only temporary and I did get an anti nausae script from my Dr. Did anyhone else get nausaeted 5-6 days out? What worked for you?

I am now 6 days post op...yesterday the nausae began. I have to go to work this morning any suggestions for this awful nausae?

I bet the reason is that the anesthesia is still remaining a bit in your organs. The bladder just may be a bit paralized yet. I too had to bend over to pee!! My biggerst problem 5 days post op is being nausaeted with a pressure like feeling in my upper abdomen. Just trying to make it thru the day. About 10 min ago I had this feeling I was going to vomit, but took deep breaths and walked up and down the stairs a few times. A clue that I alwaqys have prior to vomitting is that my nose runs!! Gee this is a bit tough for sure.!

I was banded on the 8th of april. Very little pain, but today I feel nausaeted, and my left side of my neck hurts like heck. I just took my old reliable indigestion cure. Baking soda in a small amt of milk.....now to wait for the burps!! As far as the bloat I feel it too and a tightness in my upper stomach....But I suppose that too shall pass.

Dear Maryland,
Please just do it. I am 56 years old and wish to god I had done this years ago. I am 2 days post op and believe me it was worth the 6 month wait to get everything in order. I truly believe that the next 20 years are going to be better than the last 20. And know what I decided that I will not die fat, or from one of the many things that can happen simply because of excessive weight. You have family support and plenty of good reasons to get your ass moving in the right direction...so what are you waiting for???!!! Best wishes!!

It is done!!
Just returned home. Had my band yesterday. No pain, no gas, just that awful anesthesia taste for about 4 hours post op. Now the real journey begins. Thanks to this forumn I felt completely prepared and confident this is the way to go.
Many thanks, J.

I will have my lap band today. I am scheduled for 11am. Not the least bit nervous but more of a sense of relief that the day has finally arrrived. I really appreciate all the information that was available on this forum and will continue to be a part of this unique community. Good luck and prayers to all those who have received the band and those who are in the "process"

I will be banded on April 8th. I am a bit cranky today........probably due to the very limited calories over the last 2 weeks. Better days are sure to be on the horizon.

try sugar free carnation instant breakfast, mix with skim milk. I use a magic bullet. The Carnation Instant is a bit cheaper and an excellent Protein source.

I am scheduled to have my band on April 8th. I am allowed 2 carnatiion Instant Breakfasts and I "Lean Cuisine" type meals a day. So far it has been a little hard, but this afternoon I had to go into Wall Mart (needed skim milk) and I had the most awful craving/hunger episode. It lasted for about 20 minutes after I got out of there.
Has anyone else had this problem already a week into the diet? If so what helped you. I had to actually put my Mom's prepared chicken into my trunk because I did not trust myself with it in my car!

Hi I just love my magic bullet, like its compact size and if we are going to be eating smaller portions why in the world would we need a 10 cup blender!!
On my second day of the pre op diet, scheduled for april 8th. I am soooooo excited!!!

Hi "scrappy" Anxious to hear how your experience was immediately post op. I will be having my lap band on april 8th by Dr. Marley. Hope you are feeling ok!

I am considering the Lap Band. Any information would be great. I have read a great deal about it, but have not heard from actual patients. I am curious about the requirements, costs and after effects. I currently have a BMI of 36. I know this is low compared to some, but I have current health issues that will likely get worse and some family history issues that are not good. I am only 41, but have spent most of thoses years struggling with my weight. I know in a few years, things will not get better, so I am thinking of taking a preemptive position before I am put in the position to attempt to reverse medical issues, such as diabeties. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks
I currently am just about there as far as my pre op requirements. My insurance required a six month process. I should be ready to go by April. My BMI is 41. Please do not wait till you are older. If I had to do it all over again I would have accepted that this problem required help that no diet alone could conquer. I will have my proceedure done in Windber Pa. I simply cannot wait for a chance of a new start! Good luck with your journey!
