  1. My most recent breakfasts have been this... On Sunday's I cook up a batch of veggie bacon or sausage patties (I'm vegetarian), and boil a pot of eggs. Then on weekdays for work I grab an egg and either the bacon or sausage patty, and take to work and eat at my desk.

Before I was on this kick, I was eating a Greek yogurt with walnuts or almonds mixed in, or a Protein shake most mornings.

  2. Try GENEPRO Protein powder. You can buy it on Amazon. It is tasteless and mixes in with literally anything with no lumps. It doesn't change the flavor or consistency of foods. You can put it in hot or cold items. It has 30 grams of Protein per scoop. I usually start my day by adding it to a cup of coffee. I've also put it in yogurt, cottage cheese, Soups, chili, smoothies, juice, anything that is the slightest bit wet. You may like it better that pre-packaged Protein shakes. If you're on liquids still, you can add it to whatever you're sipping on.

  3. Are you 100% that you heard correctly? And if so, I'm wondering if this was meant for long term or maybe they were explaining some phase of recovery and how they want you to proceed. I agree with the others who have posted that waiting 2 hours to drink after each meal would not be sustainable long term. I worry that you'd become dehydrated. Let's just say you ate 3 meals a day and waited 2 hours after each one... that's 6 hours a day off limits to intake liquids! Something doesn't sound right. Maybe give your nut a call or clarify further at your next visit?

  4. Happy 4th Everyone! Just wondering what everyone is doing and what you're having/serving? We're having a barbecue with grilled chicken, corn on the cob, and broccoli salad. I'm also making a fruit plate with strawberries, blueberries, and bananas to get my red, white, and blue in there. The family will be bringing the other treats like cupcakes, Pasta salad, and all the goodies I won't eat but they love :) Other than that, the plan is to keep the kids entertained with sparklers, the hubby happy with his corona, the dogs tranquilized from the neighborhood war zone that occurs every year, and to enjoy the sunshine! On Sunday we're leaving for camping for a week. How bout you guys?

  5. Ugghh! What a moron! Sorry you had to go through that. Since you'll be seeing him repeatedly, if he brings it up again, use my favorite response that I have heard here on Bariatricpal... "I'm tired of talking about my body. Let's pick yours apart for awhile. Where should we start?" And then just look him up and down real seriously like your trying to find a place to begin. haha! That should shut up his foolish mouth. :)

  6. I figured out I absolutely love to hike! Who knew? When I was bigger, it was too hard and I really missed out... but now I can go explore all the beautiful hidden places around me. Yesterday my hubby, son, and I hiked up to a lake with blow up rafts and floated around. We were the only ones there and it was amazing!

  7. Today is my 7 month "Surgiversary" and I still don't feel hungry in the old sense of the word like I used to. I feel like I want to eat something because it sounds yummy, or I get shaky and headachy when I have gone too long without eating so I know I am hungry. But without the hunger hormone Grehlin anymore, I don't have that gnawing hunger that used to drive me to eat (and caused me to become so overweight). Now, I find that I can plan my meals, make healthy choices, and eat sensibly. When I was at your stage, I got really tired and bored of just drinking liquids pretty quickly and wanted something solid, so when I could have soft foods, I was super excited! My first foods were an over easy egg, cottage cheese, and greek yogurt. And they were delish :) Good luck on your journey!

  8. I was really hesitant at first too and didn't want people to know. I didn't tell anyone other than my close family. But after awhile I began to think, "You know what? I did the HARD WAY.. In fact, I did it for more than a decade and it landed me with high blood pressure, prediabetes, sleep apnea, fibromyalgia, and really low self confidence." We find easier ways in life all the time for heaven's sake! We no longer write everything down with a feather and ink, we don't walk to work or school on snowshoes, we don't perform lobotomy's on mentally ill people, we don't do many primitive surgeries without anesthesia like they used to... and on and on. So... my point is this, I'm realistic. My sleeve is easier. It's not the easiest. I have challenges different than before, but it was an option to me that improved my health greatly and I now feel blessed and proud to have made the choice. In that realm, I tell people about it. I tell them I can't eat carbs, I can't drink soda, I must work out, I am forever limited to the amount of food I can eat. And its still easier, better, and life saving. For me. It could be for them too. Maybe they should look into it. But by that time, most of them don't think it sounds so easy any more.

  9. Such a good idea to find someone going through the same thing. Good luck to you! :)

I saw a post here on Bariatric Pal from a person named "Bari" about dating that said this...

So, I just saw an ad when at the cinema last week for a dating site for those who have undergone or who are currently undergoing significant weight loss. It's called WeightlessDate.com. It encourages team work and support based on experiencing the same challenges and accomplishments. I thought it was a great idea and wanted to share with the community.

  10. I was really shocked when my post op nurse offered me coffee as one of my liquid choices after surgery... I can have coffee if I want it. I usually have a really big cup every morning with my GENEPRO Protein powder in it to get me going :) As for alcohol, I've only had a couple of drinks since surgery 6 months ago. One thing is true... A little goes a long way! haha! My doctor just said to be careful with alcohol and drink in moderation. The only beverage I was told is definitely off limits is anything carbonated because it can stretch my sleeve.

  11. I didn't have surgery in Mexico but did have the sleeve done in December, and know San Diego like the back of my hand. It's my home away from home! :) I don't think you'll feel much like walking that soon after surgery, and for me, it hurt to sit for long periods so I'm not sure how much "sight seeing" you'll be up for. You'll be on Clear liquids at that point to, so dining out or even smoothies my still not be an option. If you had a hotel by the bay though, you might enjoy lounging on the grass, being near the Water, and getting a little sunshine. You might like to also go to Coronado, or Balboa park, put out a blanket and just read and relax. I think it'd probably be best to skip the beach with new surgery incisions. Best of luck on your surgery! :)
