If your doctor will accept it, i did mine through www.bariatricpsychconsult.com. They didn't take my insurance but at 100 dollars it was the cheapest i could find.

There are meetings at St Joe's too. I was planning to have mine there but moved to Nj midway through preop.

Southern South Jersey here - Vineland. Expecting my date tomorrow, hopefully within a month. I'd love to make in person contacts with more locals. Learning so much and would love to share and find out more. Be happy to step up but need to get mine underway first.

I have a friend in RI that did it on her own, lived on the third floor of a house with a steep winding stairway. It's mostly being as prepared as possible up front! We'll probably go about the same time. We are strong and can do this!

Good thread. I had a hip replacement and only had someone with me for a couple days. I fought hard to come back and figured out ways to scoop kitty litter and such. Now i live near family but they range from "if it's what you have decided" to "you're an idiot" so it's good I'm still a fighter.

Any advice on which vitamix to go with? I started moving away from processed food a few years ago. Now with the surgery almost here I've given up fast food and soda. My grocery cart today was all veggies, fish, chicken and stuff to make soup and chili. Yes i think i need this. I'm not a lean cuisine eater, i want real food.

It was just my birthday and i was thinking of buying a vitamix. I am learning to cook more from scratch, hate to chop, love to do food prep ahead of time and freeze. Trying to talk myself into justifying the Vitamix. Surgery is within a month, it's just me - though i could get carried away and start making natural cat food. Do i take the leap?

@@BLERDgirl you look awesome. I look easy ten years younger than 51 but was just looking in the mirror thinking that this morning. Surgery in the next month, upping my skin care routine. Not opposed to some cosmetic updates of I'm that uncomfortable.

You totally need the seminar and stuff. It is a life changing decision and you really need to be educated on how you will manage your new life. Not an easy instant solution at all.

Congrats! You are on the road to the life you deserve. Some people are happier when they are losers (not our good kind) and they can feel superior. Now that you have taken control of your life, the relationship changes. Let go and move to the next chapter. I experienced this when i started doing animal rescue. Friends didn't want to hear the stories or the work i was doing. They can't handle it. I was told I'd lose friends and i did. My daughter told me people come into your life when they are meant to - a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Time to start over girl. So so happy for you.

Glad i found this post! Had UHC in Baltimore but after three months of doing nutrition, consults and some tests i had to move back to NJ after 20 years. Started again with Dr Attia, nutrition and tests. Will be on NJ Horizon starting 1/1/15 and we will submit as soon as i get my info. Glad to hear they approve quickly. Sounds like i will need letters from my PCP, ortho surgeon and maybe previous bariatric in Baltimore. What a complicated mess. Just want this to be part of my total safe fresh start. Thanks for all the info! Nice to hear from others!

I'm watching progress here and getting encouragement. I'm finishing requirements and should be getting done mid to end of January. So ready.
