  1. Hi, I'm a psychologist who recently had VSG surgery. It is very important to be prepared both physically and mentally for the surgery. The pre-op diet is the first test of your will power and commitment to changing you life style. I understand it can be difficult, but before you cheat, you should try to remind yourself of all the reasons that made you decide surgery is the right choice for you. Your reasons should help keep you on the right track. As a reminder, you may find that it's helpful to post your reasons on sticky notes, and place them on the refrigerator. keep in mind, the surgery will only assist you in your weight loss journey, the hard work will still need to come from you. As previously stated the diet is very important because it is designed to shrink your liver in preparation for surgery. I would also encourage you to inform your surgeon. Good luck!

  2. My surgery was on Jan 20th also! We have the same VSG birthday. I call it a birthday because it's the day the new me was born. Congratulations! Sounds like your doing great.

I haven't been able to walk as much as you have, as I have always had severe Migraines and developed vertigo after a car accident several years ago, but I'm getting around fairly well. Went to a doctors appointment today and getting in and out of the car was painful.

Are you experiencing any pain still?

Is your abdomen still swollen? If so, what are you doing for the swelling?

I'm glad I found someone who is one week postop too :-)

  3. That's my biggest fear! I'm one week postop and I discussed this with my surgeon after surgery. He stated that after a year or two it's common and normal to see weight gain. Some of the reasons are: relaxed exercise regimen after losing the weight and stretching of the pouch by overeating. His advice was if weight gain occurs, pump up your exercise regimen, make sure your getting enough Protein, Vitamins and sleep and lastly, as already suggested go back to the post op diet for a week. Good luck!

  4. Hi everyone, I am new to this site. I'm scheduled to have surgery with Dr. Lopez jan 20, 2015, but it sounds like there are a few of you scheduled on that date as well. I'm thinking perhaps I should reschedule my surgery for the 21st. If your having surgery on the 20th with dr. Lopez - specialized bariatrics would you mind letting me know what procedure your having?
