    Wellcare (Staywell) Florida Medicaid

I don't know if you have this information, its the bariatric policy for Wellcare https://www.wellcare.com/WCAssets/corporate/assets/ccg/hs_ccg_bariatric_eng_10_2014.pdf Hopefully it will help answer some of your questions. Best of Luck
  3. I'm reluctant to post because I'm afraid I'll jinx myself but I met with my surgeon on Tuesday and my date is set for June 17th. He said we could do it this month but June works best for me so I'll be a little more patient and hopefully lose some more weight. The office is going to submit to the insurance now (which is why I'm so nervous, I'm afraid I'll get rejected). About me, I'm a dental hygienist and have heavy all my life but in the last ten years I weight has been increasing steadily. My PCP has wanted me to do this surgery but I wasn't ready. Last summer I reached my highest weight and i knew I had to do something. Best of Luck

    Genepro Users-check this out.

I believe the purpose of the forum is to also educate not only support. This product is making claims that are simply impossible. Criticisms of the product is not criticizing the users of product.

    New here

I have United Healthcare Community Plan(medicaid). This is the medical policy regarding bariatric surgery https://www.unitedhealthcareonline.com/ccmcontent/ProviderII/UHC/en-US/Assets/ProviderStaticFiles/ProviderStaticFilesPdf/Tools%20and%20Resources/Policies%20and%20Protocols/Medical%20Policies/C&S/bariatric_surgery_CS.pdf I started this process in Sept 2014 but because of an insurance change at the beginning of the year things were delayed a bit. I hoping to have the surgery in June because that works best for me, I have an appt in this Tuesday with my surgeon. Does your surgeon require you lose a certain amount before surgery? I'm down twenty pounds just making small changes in my diet mainly giving up soda and sweets. You'll be surprised how quickly the time passes. Try not to be discouraged, Best of luck

    Stomach Fat...?

Congratulations on your weight loss. Unfortunately we can't spot reduce. I'm still pre-op, I carry most of my weight in my stomach area and I lost twenty pounds but I don't see it but I do notice my clothes are looser. If your like me it may take a littel longer to notice a change in the area. Just keep up with your diet and exercise programs and try to stay motivated. Best of Luck.
  7. I don't trust this company. I don't understand how it can have 30g of protein in a 15g serving size.

    Bronx sleevers?

I'm from the Bronx but live in Westchester county now. I hopefully will have my surgery soon at Lawrence Hospital.

    Insurance approval question

My understanding is that in past year(12 months) you had six consecutive months supervised diet.

    United healthcare community plan NJ

I have the plan in NY here is the policy about bariatric surgery https://www.unitedhealthcareonline.com/ccmcontent/ProviderII/UHC/en-US/Assets/ProviderStaticFiles/ProviderStaticFilesPdf/Tools%20and%20Resources/Policies%20and%20Protocols/Medical%20Policies/C&S/bariatric_surgery_CS.pdf
  11. I'm a dental hygienist. While anything that effects our immune system (HIV, steroids, uncontrolled diabetes, and nutritional deficiencies) can lead to periodontal (gum) problems and tooth loss, the biggest factor is personal oral hygiene. Brushing, flossing daily and regular dental visits are key in maintaining oral health.

You"re welcome, @@harley_quinn25 Usually having a BMI > 40 is all you need, if its <35 then comorbidities are needed.

I think you maybe right about the three month wait if with a surgeon according to this http://www.emblemhealth.com/~/media/Files/PDF/_med_guidelines/MG_Bariatric_SX_c.pdf But its best to see what the surgeon tells you. Either way you will be surprised how quickly the time will pass. Best of luck.

Sorry for the late response. I started in September so next month will be six but I'm still getting my paper work in order. If/when I get an approval then the office will schedule a date

I live Westchester also. Do you have private or managed medicaid? If its managed medicaid, the requirements are six months of visits, psych consult plus clearances( GI,Cardiologist, sleep study) and a letter from the PCP. I started this process with HIP/Emblem but had to switch insurance but the requirements were the same. I haven't been given a surgey date yet.

    Which is better

My surgeon advised my to get the sleeve because of my anemia. I know of someone who had a gastric bypass and now needs regular blood transfusions because she her anemia. Good luck with whatever you decide.
