Anyone From Buffalo, Ny Out There?
Jenngf5 replied to chilihot59's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I room shared with what I think was a frequent flyer to that floor. I wasn't in the hospital long enough though to really care. I got to my room maybe 130 Monday and was being wheeled out by 11am the next morning. I was determined not to be there any longer than possible and walked as soon as I got up the courage to move. But the stay on 15 was nice. They even let me sleep at night!! They wouldn't send me home on pain meds, only liquid Tylenol. So my last dose was like at 4am. They let family stay and show up early too. Sounds like you are getting those anxious feelings which are NORMAL! Keep us posted! -
Lol. I'm still on full liquids. I had 2 mini stewed carrots that I chewed for like five minutes each and I didn't exactly strain my creme of chicken soup. But I agree u might want to stay away from the raw veggies (and sweets) U will learn quickly if your belly didn't like something and we don't want to begin grazing again or putting not so healthy stuff in our new bellies. I just want an egg already!! Good luck!

January 15th, 2015 Anyone?
Jenngf5 replied to downsizingdiva's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I switched to whey tech banana creme flavor made w 1/2 c water then put in freezer for a few to get icy cold. 24 grams per scoop. I simply can't handle the milk. For other liquids I like the progressive light tomato basil blended to liquify and only just warmed. Also creme of chicken made w water. I also do white tea and slushy iced tea. Two days in a row I've reached protein goal thankfully. Isopure unflavored is good mixed in broth but I was sick of broth. Not too thick. -

Counts as a liquid to me. Otherwise I wouldn't be getting them in. I asked that question before discharge so not a silly question. ???? I'm still in first week post op. Not allowed yogurt until next week. Good luck!

Thank you and congrats to you too! Fevers gone!! Broke at some point last night. Doing much better today (day 3). Not so tired and had better luck getting fluids and Protein in. Had creme of chicken Soup today and egg drop soup and OMG how delicious. Also found out I still like chocolate with 1 oz intense choc milk-they could've taken that likeness away -lol Heading off to bed. Still experiencing gas pains and heartburn but limited and I don't feel as much like and upside down turtle tonight!! Speedy recovery to you!! -

Congrats and welcome to the losing side!! I had my surgery Monday morning. Felt great in hospital for most part and walked in just a cple hrs from recovery. Since being home, I've had a low grade fever and diarrhea TMI I'm sorry...sporadic sleep and trouble getting in the fluids. Still feeling burby and not used to those feelings. Talked to my surgeons secretary today who has gone thru this and she reassured me all is normal and the first four days are the toughest. So I'm hopeful for tomorrow!!! I gained weight during surgery but quickly dropped it according to my home scale the last day. Keep hydrated and keep peeing!! Supposedly by 1 wk post op we will be a brand new person!!! Good luck! -
Hi. I'm 3 weeks pre-op. My surgery date is scheduled for jan 19th. I'm realizing today, after my pre-admission testing the reality of what I'm about to do and though I'm very excited I'm also getting quite nervous which is not like me at all. I realized today that I didn't ask a whole lot of questions related to post-op life, immediate and long term. What to eat? What to avoid? Is my family prepared to support me in this effort? Will they be able to fend for themselves while I'm restricted to liquids and mush? Throughout this whole process I said I'm doing this for me, and I am but I cannot help worrying and nurturing my "boys". I just needed to say all that and get it out of my head. I've been on the wls surgery journey since August and I'm not quitting now. Thank you ....

Shellyd88. I'm sure they will be getting u in there around the first week of February ...did u ask which holiday? Lol. You can always call and ask tomorrow. I'm sure they are days away from scheduling you. The weeks before I was very anxious. I am glad it is behind me and now I just need to focus on recovery. -

Thanks. Same office with dr Hoffman. Since I've been home running a low grade fever but will call in morning if continues. I also have an extra incision and hernia repair. Feeling better now that I'm home and in my own home. Even took a shower. Tomorrow will be a true test to see how much Water and Protein I can get in. Best of luck to you!!! They gave me this final three week preop schedule during my surgeon visit. Included bloodwork on 29th, visiting my PCP the first week of January and final weigh in visit on the 13th the week before surgery. It wasn't until the appt on the 13th that they gave my some sample post op meal plans and pre op basically one say diet. I said something to the nurse practitioner and she indicates they give info in stages as to not over whelm and kinda scolded me for being in this forum. Lol. I'm glad I've found this place. -
Discharged a few hours ago. Coming home to three excited dogs and a family that really wasn't sure how to handle things was rough. A few pot holes later, some liquid Tylenol and a nice long nap I'm doing much better. Trying some minestrone broth and one oz isopure non flavored protein. I take it thought he Tylenol counts as fluids!!! Didn't feel the restriction after surgery. Am a bit today. Wish the sent the pain meds home. No so lucky. But if I'm slow and careful it nothing I can't manage. Good luck. Talk soon.
