Nerves galore!
Oh wow, that's a lot of work in one surgery. But also nice to get it all taken care of at once. I'm not looking forward to the gas pain. I was fortunate enough not to deal with it, when I had laparoscopic surgery before. How long do you have to have the drain?... Staples. I thought they just stitched you up..... Are you home yet? sorry for all the questions. Probably not what you want to deal with right now. Rest, walk, rest, walk and rest some more.. lol. But really, I hope you are doing and feeling better than yesterday.

My Consultation
Thanks @@scrapbasket, I will definitely get a folder started today, I have a couple documents from my PCP. I really do hope they count the time I've put into this. That would be fantastic! I'll add to my notes to talk to the coordinator at the surgeons office. I talked to my PCP about getting my records from previous visits to her. I don't think she wants to do all that. She gave me "you don't really need to do all that. That's why I put this and this in the letter". To me the letter seemed vary vague. But I guess, that's another thing to bring up with the coordinator. I don't think I have any qualifying co-morbidities. I'm borderline diabetic. I have crazy heartburn, but not sure If it qualifies as GERD and I noticed on a few post, gerd isn't really being considered a comorbidity as much. I'll find out if I have sleep apnea. My husband says I snore really loud and make crazy noises. I didn't used to snore before all this weight gain. so, well see. I'm seeing I need to be a bit more organized. Thanks again!

Dr. Matthew Weiner - Detroit area
Did you end up going with Dr. Weiner? I've been watching his youtube videos. If I lived closer to Commerce/ Detroit, I would of gone with him.. But I am excited to meet the surgeon I did choose.

My Consultation
Not sure if I am posting this in the right place.... I'm excited and wanted to share... I have my consultation January 6th!! and I can't wait! I have new insurance effective January 1st. So, the two weigh-ins I did I guess are now void. lol. Now, I have 3 months of nutritional counseling. Which I am assuming is through the surgeons nutritionist. Anyone have to do that? Did you go through the surgeons office? With my new insurance requirements, I was excited for 3 months instead of 6 months of weigh-ins, but doing the math I still end up finishing the process in Mid April. Oh well, as long as it happens. I'm really hoping April is my surgery month. *fingers crossed* I have so many "what ifs" going through my head. But I'm trying to stay positive and focus on what I've accomplished so far in the process. Reading all these post on here have been so helpful, So thank you to everyone that contributed to this site. I'm so thankful I found it.

Federal BCBS paid for my sleeve 100%, minus the copayments for the hospital and my surgon!
thanks for this thread. I've been a bit anxious about getting the sleeve and which insurance to go with. My current bcbs MI pays for almost everything I started the process in Oct. I found out my insurance is changing for 2015 and now need to pick fed BCBS basic or standard. . But from reading post around the internet. It sounds like I should pick basic for less out of pocket expense. My PCP sent my letter out today! Next week I should hear from the surgeons office to set up my consultation. I can't wait! I already did the psych evaluation. I've had 2 weigh ins but only 1 counts and my 3rd one next week (I need 6). But with the new insurance I'll only need 3 months of nutritional counseling. So I need to look into that. Oh and it's mandatory by the surgeon to go to at least 2 support group meetings. I've missed the two available. So, I have to make Jan and Feb.. As long as everything runs smoothly and I do what I need to. I could have my surgery Mid-March. So now, I tap my toes until I get the call and thanks to everyone that posted here. Your information was helpful and eased my anxiety, a bit.
