Sigh! If folks can't see the problem with downing multiple alcoholic beverages just 2 weeks after surgery then they will never see the light.
Our posts were not from a judgmental state it was more from a shock and concern state, maybe a bit of anger too. But hey it's your body, do you!

The problem is not that the person veered off course. We will all do that. The problem was the person consumed a dangerous amount of alcohol/food days after their surgery, which could have seriously danger that person's recovery, health, and life. Although im glad that person is fine, I do not want anyone reading this to think that person's actions are acceptable. Some people read this form to see how far they can push their surgery. Someone reading that this person consumed xyz and was fine means they can do the same and be fine.
Again what is done is done but I felt the need to respond out of concern to the future sleevers.

Just because one can drink 6 glasses of alcohol weeks after surgery and be "fine" after does not mean one did not cause damage to their sleeve or self. This is when the slippery slope begins. Oh I had 6 glasses of alcohol and I'm good so it's ok! Let me try again! Oh I can have 6 glasses of alcohol and still lose weight so that means I did good today.
Some of these post are concerning indeed. Trust me I'm no alcohol police. I'm 3 months out and have had a glass of wine twice. And plan to certainly drink A glass of wine during special occasions and social gatherings in the future but I wouldn't have dare compromised my healing process by downing alcohol 2 weeks after surgery which is a critical part of healing.
My post is not to judge or make anyone feel bad because what is done is done this post comes from pure concern of some of the dangerous actions taking by some.

I'm definitely going to wait a bit longer. But I do need some wiggle room here. To tell a 26 year old to never drink again is tough. I've never been a big drinker but having a glass of wine with friends on the weekends would be worth the calories. That day I would hit the gym harder.
I think these type of strict requirements should be based on the individual. For some, alcohol is a slippery slope.. However my slippery slope is ice cream and chips, which im staying away from like a plague.

So all is going well with the eating. I love that I'm eating less and losing *clap* *clap*. But now 7 weeks out, I need an alcoholic beverage. I have one of the most conservative programs and they advise no drinking EVER again. Well that's not going to happen. I meet with my dietitian next week and we need to set a realistic goal. I'm at the bar right now with friend as they sip on their wine and I just can't watch them weekend after weekend. If I'm allowed one glass of alcohol a weekend that would be amazing! Of course I would choose wisely and log the calories etc.
Sorry I needed to rant as I sip my Water in the bar.

Really 22pds in 2 weeks and you think you are not losing enough??? That is one of the fastest weight loss Ive heard of.
I wonder are doctors not giving patients realistic goals or are the patients setting unrealistic goals.

I'm interested in this topic. I'm also interested hearing from people who actually drink. At 26 years old it's unrealistic to say I will never drink again. Yes it's high and calories and carbs but you log it and adjust your diet for that day. Currently, I'm a month out and I plan to have A drink on weekends once I get about 4 months out.

Yeah I've never been one to throw up so I'm happy I don't but spitting for 30mins sucks too. Luckily every time this has happened I've been home alone. In the next week or two im going to start eating with friends. I must learn to slow down.
