    Eggs

It's so weird that doctors have different eating timelines. Some of you have been eating eggs 4 days out of surgery?! Wow! I was sleeved on 2/25 and can't have eggs until I'm close to a month.

    Coke / Pepsi

    Never ever again!

    Two weeks out

In addition to all of the above I do the soup broth that adds a bit more calories. And I drink vitamin water zero, which has more vitamins and electrolytes. Maybe give that a try.

    Two weeks out

I was also sleeved on the 25th. I also do two primer drinks, a cup of broth, and over 30oz of water. I lost 11pds the first week and then stalled for 4 days. As of yesterday I started losing again. Just stay strong.
  5. I'm too interested in what others have to say. I'm 26 years old and was sleeved a week and a half ago. Before getting the surgery I too feared I wouldn't enjoy food/life after surgery. But from what I hear from many of the veterans is that eventually I will be able to eat everything I did before surgery but just smaller amounts. Obviously I would go for protein and healthy options first. This eased my mind. I still want to enjoy cookouts, dinner with friends, dates. And it seems all of that will be possible.

One week post op and then I stall

Give up after a week?!? Please just relax. Before having the surgery, I read up on stalls from the board so I was expecting it. A week out of surgery I too hit my first stall. I didn't even sweat it. Because I knew it would pass. After five days of weighing the same weight the scale finally moved. Please just relax and follow your eating program.

    Soft Foods Help

I was allowed strained cream soups in my full liquid stage. I was instructed to strain out any chunks, but I ate pretty much every cream soup my grocery store sold! The variety kept me sane. As for hummus, I was able to eat that during my soft food/puree stage. Thanks this sounds like my diet. I will stick with Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and cream soup next week.

    Soft Foods Help

I'm moving to full protein/mushy phase next week. When everyone says they are having soup, what kind? Are you eating the food in the soup? So far I am only drinking the broth. And would I be able to have hummus during this phase?
  9. For months I have been President of the Cool club when it came to getting my sleeve. Now 6 days before surgery the freak out is here. The thoughts of death and complications have me worried. I try to assure myself that I will be ok. I am doing my best to stay positive. I'm 26 with a 40BMI, I hope my age and weight is a positive for the healing process (mostly age). How is everyone coping with the scary part of surgery? Tips and advice would be highly appreciated.

    Day 3

The IV fluids, your new swollen gut, and the lack of moving your bowels contributed to the weight gain. It is normal for some. I'm on day 7 and I feel much better. The first 3 days are rough. Speedy recovery!
  11. Do I have to space my Protein out throughout the day? Or can I finish my protein intake in the morning and focus on other liquids? I'm still on liquid stage. 5days post up. I purchased whey protein, and 2 scoops of powder equals 60gram of protein. So I could potentially make a 10oz glass of whey in the morning and be done with my protein? Drinking shakes is still difficult at this stage so if I could just finish my Protein shake in the morning and then focus on Water and Vitamin water that would be easier for me. Still the goal at the end of the day is to get 65oz of fluids. I'm currently at 55oz working up.

  13. Tomorrow is my Sleeve surgery. Today I met with my primary care doctor for final clearance. She has never been supportive of the surgery. I asked what does she know about the sleeve, she said that we have less complications then the bypass but most people just gain the weight back... Def not what I wanted to hear the day before surgery.
  14. Hi all, Since everyone in the preop forum has been so great to me over the past few months, I thought I would put my post op story here as a check in. Today makes 3 days since surgery. I'm still in the hospital. I'm being released in a few hours. I'm only in the hospital because my first two days I wasn't getting in as much liquids as they would have liked, but by day 3 I corrected that..The only pain I feel is the pain from the incision and gas pains. I've never had true gas pains until after this surgery. Both of my pains are being managed through medication and walking around the hospital. After surgery, I feel that I walk like a mummy but hopefully that would soon change. In the hospital im drinking broth, Apple juice, and Water. I can't imagine me having anything more than that. I'm so stuffed after a few sips, but I'm sure as time goes on that will change.. I am interested to see how I will tolerate my Protein drinks that I have at home. Anyways, I can't think of anymore. Again, I want to thank everyone for their support and let you all know I'm fine.. For those who have upcoming surgeries coming up Good Luck and Best Wishes!

    3 days post op

I had mine with Dr. Binetti. Albany Med took care of me. I had my own room which was nice. The doctors/nurses were in no rush to discharge me and I was in no rush to leave. So I spent 3 days there. Those days really helped me with recovery. Good luck tomorrow!

    Unsupportive Primary Care Doctor

Yeah she seemed uninformed. I want to prove her wrong!
