  1. I was self pay in the US. I used my HSA. But I did have to go to the hospital afterwards because I over did it and got dehydrated. I did not have to pay for that hospital bill. Good luck- LA
  2. I only mentally keep track of Protein and Water. Been at goal 2 years. I am also a workout junkie who is not into tracking every bite I eat. You can be successful and everyone is different. So You Do You Good luck- LA
  3. No I am over 2 years out and have only puked once. But I can't eat Ivars Clam Chowder it makes my stomach churn. I do sometimes over eat and get the slimes and then I am in pain for an hour. Usually Chineese food. Ugh one would think after two years I wouldn't over eat but it still happens. I hope things get better

    Smooth Move Tea

I can't do that tea either. It about killed me. Sorry but it will be a day or two before your back to normal. I used Miralax and had no problems. After I got to goal I started eating old fashion oatmeal probably every other day now to stay regular. I cook a bunch of it up at the start of the week and just reheat it. I am lazy and was used to the packets. Good luck- Lorie

    Pizza that is the ?

I had pizza at 4 months out. I love Pizza and I eat it probably at least once a week. But you know what- I can only eat one slice. Don't beat yourself up over a slice of pizza ~LA

    A vain NSV story.

Haha I loved your story!!! It's sad that there are so many toxic people like that. I have always been the yoyo dieter so I am sure that there are plenty of family members and friends that are just waiting for me to put the weight back on. I did not tell any of them I had this done and now I've been at goal for about 2 years. Losing weight is HARD and Maintaining is HARD. I don't care how much it is or how you did it. Everyone should be proud. Suck it Shelby!! Keep going with your goals. ~LA

I felt like an ex smoker today

Ahh yes I too have had these thoughts. I just don't have the energy to get on my soap box if they aren't willing to help themselves. I have however talked to 4 patients from my surgeons office that were on the fence so hopefully I paid it forward with them. ~LA

    Genepro Protein?

I have been using it and I've been at goal for almost 2 years. I didn't like unjury. In fact once I found GENEPRO I threw it away it was so bad. I use Genepro in my coffee every morning. It's my CYA in case I don't get enough Protein throughout the day. But I do try to always have protein with every meal. I also add it to my old fashion oatmeal so that I am getting a balance of carbs and protein and I need the oatmeal to keep me regular I have also added it to pancake mix as sometimes I crave banana pancakes. So in order to equal out the carbs I mix in the protein and you can't even tell. Good luck on your journey. I found a lot of useful information from this site along the way. ~LA
  12. I have done a few half marathons but I am thinking about doing a full. I am nervous and wondering how you manage your food intake on long run days? or during the race? I run in the mornings so I usually just have a cup of coffee with GENEPRO in it. And then if I do 8-10 miles I might have a few gel chews. Thanks so much. ~LA

    Any Marathon Runners?

I went to the sports nutritionist and some of the things she recommended were dry fruit like bananas, blueberries, cherries and nuts. Also Chia Squeeze, Nuun active tablets and then of course the regular gels and chews. She recommended trying to hydrate and do these every 15 min. But of course try it all before race day. Also try to make sure your having some fat with your Vitamins. Apparently they absorb better if you do. Avacado, chia seeds, nuts etc I haven't tried any of these yet but I did buy some. I will keep you posted as the gels are so sweet I want to try the others. ~LA
  14. I think around 6 weeks you will be able to do more. Don't over do it. I think at 8 weeks I started lifting again. Good luck-

    Any Marathon Runners?

Thank you for the tips. I had not seen the 100 calorie fuel ratio and I like the idea of dried fruit. Banana and PB. I do the same thing with my oatmeal ~LA

    Any Marathon Runners?

The Bod Pod is a machine you wear your bathing suit in and it measures the composition of your body. % of Fat, Fat Mass etc. It was $40. I liked it because the whole BMI measurement isn't specific to body type. I am not looking to lose any more weight but I need to know what I should be eating and how often when I do longer runs so that I can sustain my run. I will keep you posted on what I find out. The marathon I am thinking about doing is in Eugene Oregon in May. I have a half in Feb. Good luck- LA

    Any Marathon Runners?

Bariathelete responded to me but they charge and I went to my 2 year follow up apt and they have a sports nutritionist that my insurance will cover so I have a meeting on Dec. 8. I will keep you all posted. I also had the bod pod and RMR test done while I was there. Pretty cool. I had to pay for it. 17% Body fat and MRM is 2300
  18. That is amazing. You should feel really proud! ~LA
  19. The time has gone by so fast. I can't believe I had the sleeve 2 years ago today. I had a lower BMI so I had to pay for it myself using my HSA in the US. I had been a yoyo dieter for years. I always loved to workout and would lose the 50 lbs but then I'd always be hangry and get tired of logging my food etc and eventually gain the weight back. I am so happy I decided to make this lifestyle change. It's not an easy way out. I still eat 5 small meals a day focusing on Protein, drink my Water, take my Vitamins, and workout 6x a week. I weigh myself 2-3x a week and focus on staying within a 3-4 lb range. When it creeps up I cut out the carbs and go back to the basics. This Group has been so Wonderful over the last two years. I have learned so much. The 3 week stall, my favorite Protein Bars, favorite shakes, etc. I also learned that even at 2 years out I make mistakes. Sometimes I will over eat and feel miserable for about an hour or not drink enough water and get a headache. Don't beat yourself up but also never give up! You will gain confidence and courage. Here's me on my trike before surgery and then this summer rocking 2 wheels. If you ever have questions I am happy to help. ~LA

    Any Marathon Runners?

I will look into the bariathlete info. Thanks I 've been at goal for over a year and a half so I eat carbs now. I am just wondering what a good way to plan what to eat to have enough energy. I figure it will take me anywhere from 4-5 hours to finish and I do eat every 3 hours. I'll let you all know what I find out and if I do actually do it. I haven't signed up yet. ~LA

    Metabolism after VSG

    It's been 2 Years already

I actually have only thrown up once when I overate. Most of the time if I eat to much I just feel uncomfortable. Even now and again I have a meal like that. Maybe once a month. I also get the hiccups if I eat a lot at once. ~LA

    Metabolism after VSG

I am having mine tested on Nov. 18. I have never done it before. I will let you know what I find out. I had my surgery 2 years ago and have been at goal weight for 20 months. ~LA
  24. I can't believe I never thought of this. It's cold, rainy and yucky in Seattle right now. Go figure. Anyways I made Green tea and then added a squirt of the Water flavoring to it. Today I added peach mango. Super Yummy. Now I can experiment with all the other flavors. Happy Halloween.
