  1. HI all, I had my surgery Dec 15th - band to sleeve. So far I have not struggled too much. I was up and walking in the PACU. Water is my greatest issue- I hope its just because my stomach is still tender but its almost like i can feel the water just hanging out in my stomach then gurgling down :/ hope that changes soon. Good luck to everyone who just started their journey and those still waiting!!!!

I had surgery the 11th and I have the same issue with feeling gurgling in my stomach. Mine does it with anything I drink :/ weird! But I can do water I just like it cold!

  2. I found these at my local health food store and they are a life saver. Each packet has 15 grams of Protein and 5 or less grams of carbs depending on the flavor. I add a scoop of Syntrax unflavored Protein for an extra 10 grams. (25 total)

They have been a real lifesaver for me on the liquid phase post op. If you can find them or order them, they are definitely worth trying. ( relatively low sodium also)attachicon.gif image.jpgattachicon.gif image.jpg

How do you like the Syntrax unflavored? I have it but can't seem to mask the taste!

  3. I used Premiere Protein pre op and I use it post op. Pre op I added 4oz of 1% milk to cut down the sweetness. I also had to do this for a few weeks right after surgery. I now can drink them without the milk just fine.

I also used unflavored Protein powder and put it into a Progresso light French onion Soup, I strained out the onions and just drank the broth. I couldn't take all that sweet everyday.

    What brand was your unflavored?

  4. Made it to the other side. The gas pain was so bad felt like so.eone was sitting on my chest. But other than really bad nausea my stomach is fine. I am sleeping alot. Walked 2 laps so far. How long does the nausea last anyone know? It's the only thing holding me back.

I had really bad nausea my first day but they gave me a iv of nausea meds and then I felt great.

  5. I had surgery 12/11, discharged on 12/12. I have a question about sipping. I know in the hospital it was 1 once every 15 minutes. How long does that last? I'm having a hard time sipping and drinking my 1 ounce normally. I have been drinking about 2 ounces every 15 minutes and I don't know if that's bad or ok. And don't know how long I need to sip rather than drink normally (not gulp). Thanks :)

  6. Same here. I want to drink without being scared of an air bubble. I want to lay down without being scared I'm going to pop a stitch lol.

I haven't had trouble sleeping until last night. I finally found that it was easier to sleep on my right side. My back has hurt from the hospital bed. I also feel like I'm going to pop a stitch when I raise up out of bed

  7. I'm so mad/sad with myself right now. I cheated on my preop diet. I'd been doing pretty well up until now (lost 10 pounds in 4 days as well), but my workplace just received the annual giant basket of goodies from a regular client for the holidays, and I caved and ate a shortbread cookie and a burbon ball. These are the best cookies/burbon balls I've ever had (they send the same assortment every year so I knew what they tasted like too). I was hoping that the darned gift basket was going to wait to show up until I was out of the office already because I am unable to resist those things.

And this was with a rather liberal preop diet too: two meals with meat/veggies allowed and two Protein shakes a day and sugar free jello/popsicles allowed. So stupid to slip up like that. I'd been doing so well. The carbs and sugar are the main issue and I just went and ate over 50 carbs in like 2 minutes! (and holy moly I never paid attention to carbs before - that is scary how high in carbs small things can be!!)

I'm going to go strictly liquids for Tuesday/Wednesday (which should be easier as I'm off work too) and hope that I can undo the damage. :(

My surgery is the 18th (Thursday).

I slipped a couple times and even 2 days before my surgery. The pre opt diet was hard for me. But don't beat yourself up everything is ok!
