Protein Bars?
ridingrae replied to Luv`n_all-of_Me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Think Thin bars are awesome, too -
I am 3 1/2 months post op and have lost 50 pounds. I have started socializing with people that have not seen me since before surgery and do not know about the surgery. Literally, not one person has commented at all. Not even a you look good. I didn't do surgery to get compliments, but now after working so hard, I just wish someone would notice. Anyone else experience this?

No one is noticing:-(

THANK YOU for all the posts and kind words. I have donated all of my clothes as I went from and size 18 to almost a 14! Guess it will come. I see it and feel it and that's what matters. -
Magnesium Citrate (Calm) and keep track of when and if you are going so the terrible event doesn't happen again.

You had major surgery and it is hard in the beginning. Good news is after day 3 you will get better and better until you forget you even had surgery and can just enjoy your weight loss. Chin up! -
Terrified I can eat to much
ridingrae replied to Books's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3 months out and the honeymoon is over. This is hard work and very mentally challenging. We didn't get fat because we did have some sort of emotional eating issue. I try to look at every time I struggle as an opportunity to improve my eating issues. They didn't come in one day and they won't go away quickly either. You can do this. Just keep forging ahead! -
How do you get enough protein in? I eat 2 meals a day, 2 oz each and mostly protein. Then a 23g protein shake for lunch and another 23g shake before bed. So maybe 50 g per day. I read people are getting 60-80g?!

I was told after week 4 it's ok. Ask your NUT

Have lost weight but body looks the same
ridingrae replied to eveangel22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, thank you so much for posting this and everyone's comments. I am nine weeks out and have lost 40 pounds and no one has commented. My old clothes all fit now but I see the same shape in the mirror as well. My body looks the same to me as well except my legs and butt look thinner. I really feel better now that I am not the only one. I guess if we stick with the plan, and keep our bodies moving, we will eventually see the results. Chin up (lol) -
I noticed I'm slouching more. I think the surgery affects your stomach muscles and/or core and you have to work at standing tall. I just try to pay attention to it and straighten up!

Thanks but how do you eat enough real food to get that much protein? I had the sleeve 8 weeks ago and can only eat 2 oz per meal. 8 oz of protein shake. The food alone doesn't give me enough protein.

March 2015 Sleevers...How are you? Poll
ridingrae replied to readinva's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery: 3/31 Start weight: 227 Today: 193 Down: 34 lbs Everything has been extremely easy. Never needed pain meds, started walking week one and getting my vitamins in. Concerns: I am not getting enough water. I work on it everyday. I am starting to get hungry, especially on exercise days, and I think some of it might be dehydration. The other concerns are social settings and dating. How do I date and not look like a psycho?!? -
So I'm 5 weeks out and doing really well health and weight lose wise. However, I am struggling with mourning over my old, unhealthy, binge eating habits. I'll be hungry and excited for the food but then bummed out that I only get 2 oz., which makes me depressed and not even want to eat. I want the whole package! I knew my psychological issues would be the toughest and I am so glad I got surgery! Thanks for listening.

@"Recycled" thanks for the comment. That was exactly what I needed...a reality check and some tough love.

FORGIVENESS. Without it weight lose surgery will just be another temporary crutch. Change your perspective. You CAN do this.

I started a list of motivational sayings and thoughts. I add to it whenever I think of something good. I read it everyday. I thought I'd share and encourage you to do a list of your own: 1. If I can take it than I can make it. 2. A goal without a plan is only a wish. 3. I got this, come hell or high water! 4. White jeans, heels, tankini and a dress.. 5. Take control of food and your life. 6. Live the life you dream of! 7. Crossing my legs, being comfortable on a plane, less jiggly while running and more stomach space while riding. 8. Climbing!!! 9. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a new result, is called insanity! 10. How's that working for you?! 11. This is the beginning of making all your dreams come true. 12. You are braver than you know and stronger than you think. 13. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels. 14. FOCUS 15. Be kind to yourself. 16. PATIENCE 17. You can train yourself to be disciplined. 18. It's just a habit, it's ok to break it.

New idea for protein...and it tastes GOOD!
ridingrae replied to CanyonBaby's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 7 days post op and feeling great. I do have an issue with smells really turning me off. I found Isopure to be too stinky so I bought Unjury unflavored powder. 21 g per big scoop. It truly does not have a taste. So far I've used it in soy milk and V-8 juice which my NUT suggested we drink 6-8 oz of daily for its hydration/electrolyte benefits. Best of luck to you! -

HAD SURGERY 3/31/15
ridingrae replied to Butterfly85's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi all, I was sleeved on 3/31/15 as well. It went super well. Had some naseau day 1 but that's to be expected. The tough part is chasing hydration. Today started Isopure protein drinks. Just shooting for 2 ounces per meal. They smell and taste bad but I'm going to suck it up! I also feel hunger but am guessing it's head hunger since the thought of getting food down is not appealing. Well, I'm excited for everyone and am glad to have everyone to share the journey with!!! -
I am having sleeve surgery tomorrow at 4:00 pm. I'm 5th surgery of the day which is freaking me out. Starting last night at dinner and my realization that it all starts tomorrow, I had a mini panic attack and another at 3am. I'm so scared of failing or not being able to do this. Like everyone on here, it's been a lifetime of dieting and failing. Thanks for listening and I'd love any kind words of wisdom!

Just keep at it!

Hi there, I have read a lot of posts about a pre op diet. What are you doing? I am not sure if my surgeon gives me one or not. Thanks!

Hi all, I am set for sleeve surgery on 3/31. I have read many posts about people having regrets and getting depressed after surgery. I already struggle with depression and am concerned about post-surgery depression. I would appreciate any suggestions for things to do pre-surgery or post. Thank you!!!
