  1. @@froody , I did this too and gained quite a bit, it's now coming off since I started the preop diet and I've stuck to it to a tee. Enjoy these indulgences, but remember, you will be able to eat these things again eventually, just in very small portions and occasionally. @@smileygal , great to hear you've lost so much already, you must feel fantastic, hopefully your wounds won't take to much longer to heal up, are you able to feel the stitches poking through? I'd find that so irritating
  2. Best of luck! Hope it goes smoothly for you
  3. That a horrible thing to put in a childs report card! Good luck with the upcoming surgery, I hope for you to have a safe surgery and a smooth recovery
  4. Awesome!!! Congrats on the surgery date! Good luck on the optifast, I start it tomorrow, it's gonna suck, but light at the end of the tunnel, surgery after it!
  5. Hang in there! Not long to go now! I start my liquid tomorrow, so I'm here if you want a support buddy
  6. My dietician suggested adding flavoring to the shakes, like add coconut essence to a chocolate shake and you have coconut rough or a tsp of instant coffee and you have mochacino. Maybe try experimenting with texture too, blend your powder with ice and it'll be a frappe
  7. After starting this journey nearly a year ago, I finally have my surgery date! November 20th I am booked in and I can't wait! Anyone else with this date?
  8. I'm needing to do 4 weeks of optifast. It's a little unusual that your not required to do the liquid diet, not unheard of but a little odd, the point of the preop liquid diet is to make surgery safer by shrinking the liver so the surgeon can have better visibility and access to the stomach
  9. I live south west Sydney (Camden) I'm getting sleeved on the 20th of November, starting optifast fast on Friday, my surgeon wants me to do 4 weeks of it because I'm on the higher side of BMI. I can't wait! Congrats on your weight loss so far!
  10. Cottees Coola reminds me of childhood, I think nearly every kid had a bottle in their their lunch boxes. I quite like the diet rite fruit cocktail
  11. 4 weeks of pre-op is harsh! At least with the heat turning up you can have chilled shakes. Worst case, blend them with ice and make a smoothie Have a last glass of champagne for me on Thursday! Yeah 4 weeks is a long time! Luckily my dietician modified it a little and wants me to add 100g lean protein and lots off low starch vegies, so I can still have a small meal which I think will keep me a little sane! And great tip with blending them with ice, perfect for the hot days that are bound to be coming up. And I will definately have a glass of champagne for you on Thursday, and maybe a margarita for me!
  12. Hey! I don't mind you joining in! Cordial is a flavouring to add to water, usually very sweet and sugary unless you get the sugar free
  13. Just before me! Good luck and let me know how you go
  14. Using your super is a great option, especially if you don't want to or can't wait to be covered. December 5th is only 2 weeks after me, it'll fly by in no time. It's great that you and your husband are doing this together, it will be such a great support for each other. Good luck to you both
  15. I had to wait a year to be covered by my health fund, in Australia a lot of people don't bother with health insurance because we are very lucky and it's not really necessary. But for things like the sleeve its best to have insurance because they then pay for the bulk of surgery, but you need to wait a year for your health fund to cover pre existing conditions, which obesity is classified as. Even though I had to wait a year to be covered, I am still grateful, I didn't have to go through all the testing, supervised dieting and evaluations like people in the US need to to get covered for the surgery. You will be surprised how quickly the time will go, looking back the year flew by for the most part. Good luck
  16. I got my date today! I'm booked in for the 20th of November. I can't wait. I am needing to do 4 weeks of optimist, so I start that this Friday, anyone else around this date?

    Facial Hair

I am currently pre-op and I get a lot of facial hair on my chin and upper lip. For me it is a medically diagnosed hormone imbalance and was wondering does anyone else have this that has already had surgery? Did surgery affect it at all? Did it make it better or worse? Thanks

    Facial Hair

Recently went back on my medication (metformin and aldactone) and it is really the only thing that has helped me
  19. I too am pre-op, I once had a dementia patient rub my belly and ask when the twins are due. I couldn't really get angry with her considering she had dementia
  20. I'm south west sydney, Camden

    Why is protein so important

It also aids in muscle building which helps burn fat.
  23. Sounds like your doing really well, keep up the awesome work!
  24. Congrats on your surgery and all the best for a smooth recovery, keep us informed on your progress!
  25. Hi! I'm Sydney too, I'm getting sleeved in early November. I too am a nurse so like you I know the worst case scenarios which play over and over in my mind. Good luck with your surgery, let me know how you go!
